Here for your consideration is a lovely blonde vintage Madame Alexander 21 Cissy Doll dressed in her minty tagged navy blue Cissy outfit from 1955. This outfit is often referred to as “Navy with Bolero 1955″. Dress (Mint): The dark navy blue dress and matching bolero are in mint condition. The taffeta is crisp. There are no rips, tears, holes, stains, or odors. There are five snaps running down the back of the dress and they are all present and attached. The armhole tulle is there. The little white grosgrain bow is attached as is the snap. Hat (Mint): The hat is in mint condition. The elastic that secures the hat under Cissy’s chin is present and not stretched. The wire within the brim of the hat is flexible and allows the hat to be molded. I dipped the brim in a bit just because I liked the look but I flatten the brim out when I removed the hat. Slip (Excellent) : The slip is vintage and there are no rips, tears, holes, stains, or odors. I took the waist band in a little bit because the elastic had stretched. This slip is exactly the length of the dress so if it is not tight on the doll’s waist it can slip down and reveal itself. The rick rack is a little larger than I’m use to seeing on Cissy’s slips. I don’t know if larger rick rack was used back in 1955 or if the rick rack was added later. Regardless, the slip is beautifully full and works perfectly with the dress. Panties (Not Original): Cissy is missing her original panties. She is wearing a sweet vintage girdle instead. (Perhaps she thought she needed the support). Stockings (Excellent) : The stockings are in excellent condition. They are vintage but were not made by the Alexander doll Company. I say this because the top elastic is brown rather than pink. The nylons have retained most of their elasticity. Shoes (Not Original) : The navy blue shoes are not original but they go nicely with this outfit. Gloves (Very Good): The vintage white nylon gloves are in very good condition for their age. There is a little staining on the seams of the fingers from the thread. Hat Box (Excellent): Pink Madame Alexander hat box with the. Fashion Academy Awards medallion attached to the elastic. The box is in excellent condition and empty. Two strand pearl necklace and two pearl bracelets. Doll (Excellent) : Cissy has beautiful facial coloring, full lashes, and crystal clear blue sleep eyes. Her blonde hair is thick and almost in its original set. Both of her knees bend with ease as do her arms. There are no cracks or splits. She will come to you wearing a hairnet so that her hair stays in place. Her only drawback and it’s minor is that her head has a tendency to tilt back a little when you lift her up but it’s easily put back into place and it will stay where you place it.
