Vintage 1956 Madame Alexander Cissy Takes A Trip HTF Outfit FAO Schwartz Trunk

Most of the original items were in the trunk, including this signature “Cissy Takes a Trip” outfit. The outfit includes the houndstooth skirt, white shirt, tagged black jacket, red cotton slip and hat. Note that the material on the edges of the sleeve opening of the shirt are a variation as they are NOT edged in lace. CONDITION: The outfit appears to have been well taken care of by the original owner and is in nice condition overall. Some wrinkling from storage. The hat may need a bit of re-shaping and the chin strap has lost much of it’s original stretchiness. There is maybe just a touch of general soil on the top and jacket and, if you look closely, there’s just a tiny bit of faint color transfer on the right side of the collar of the top (most likely from the original red bow tie which is no longer present). There is a small mend to a side seam of the jacket. The skirt and slip both look very nice. Waistbands still have stretchiness. I’ve been questioned about the flowers on the hat. All I can say is they’re the flowers that were on the hat when I acquired it and I have no reason to think they are not original. If they vary from what is commonly recognized for this outfit, please remember that, as mentioned above, the edges of the sleeves of the shirt are also a variation. Madame Alexander DID have variations in her clothing and accessories. In my opinion, if the flowers are different from what is commonly found, then they’re a variation, not a replacement.
