Madame Alexander Dolls

MADE FROM A VINTAGE PATTERN AND FABRICS. Will also fit the 20 Miss Revlon, Dollikin and like dolls. This ensemble is constructed in the style of and with the same attention to detail as Cissy’s originals… Many of my items are made in the likeness of Original designs.. My torso gown pattern was obtained from a tattered original which I took apart stitch by stitch to create a copy as close as possible to the original. Cissy models my version or copy of the #2100 mauve taffeta torso dress seen on page 33 of Madame Alexander’s Ladies of Fashion book. Not sure if this gown was meant to have the sleeves facing out as shown in this book, but I’ve seen it displayed both ways and really prefer them inside as usually seen on the velvet gowns. This allows the beautiful style of the bodice to be at it’s best. The fabric is a lovely mauve linen with a silk texture and backing. It has a nice weight and feel. The perfect shade braided trim was placed along the bodice edge and the inner sleeve edge. The gown bodice is lined with taffeta. I believe all these fabrics are vintage. The book speaks of this trim being caught on both sides with a circle of pearls, so I used what I hope will represent this look. I also created a petticoat much like the original of vintage taffeta. Vintage ribbon edges the fine tulle and vintage lace trims the attached panties. I pulled them inside out for the photo so you can see them. Of course the gown has the attached bra inside so Cissy is well covered… !! Starting price of my auctions reflect what is invested in the ensemble… !! I have been sewing for nearly 50 years for Dancers, National level figure skaters and many brides and bridal parties… I take a lot of pride in my work. Throughout the years I have developed some individual techniques… My “hand made” charm is inside every one of my creations.
