For your consideration is this beautiful vintage Madame Alexander. From 1954 in a tagged pale blue organdy lace trimmed gown with puff sleeves and white pearl like buttons in the back. Under her lovely gown is a very lovely pale pink taffeta half slip with pale light blue ribbon woven around through the lace trimming and matching pantaloons. Both slip and pantaloons fit her nicely around her waist with elastic that still holds up well. She wears her original rayon socks and black velvety side snap shoes with fuzzy bottoms. Her straw hat has florets on the side and is tied under her chin with a pale blue satin ribbon. This lovely doll is shown on page 28 of Patricia Smith’s book, World of Alexander-kins. ” There are other similar Southern Belle variations or “types, but the others usually have a crocheted hat. This doll in my pictures has the harder to find straw hat and longer sleeves. She has sweet bisque like color to her plastic and original facial coloring with pale eyebrows and very rosy cheeks. Even more special are her bright clear green-eyes and soft brunette curls. – She has a tiny beginning of a crack at the top of each leg at the hip inside the cavity. Her walker mechanism doesn’t work. Her dress, slip, pantaloons and socks were very gently cleaned to remove years of settling dust that came with her when she was sent to me. She is marked ALEX on her back and her gown is tagged Alexander kins. She is a SLW or straight leg walker with her original banding. Her eyes blink and sleep as shown. Madame Alexander Southern Belle Sharlene 48390 Cissette 10 2008, NRFB. Southern Belle Sharlene is a 10 Cissette doll. Cissette wears an elaborate white pin stripped dress accented with blue stitching and ribbons and underlying hoop. She wears a matching white and blue hat (hat is packaged under her skirt in the box) and white lace gloves. Southern Belle Sharlene has blonde hair and blue eyes. Released in 2008, Southern Belle is a part of the Arts collection and is a limited edition of 500 pieces; her included COA says that she is #209 out of 500. This Madame Alexander doll carries on the tradition of The Alexander Doll Company, which has been known for its elegant and beautifully costumed dolls for over 90 years. This pretty vintage Margie/Marjorie by Belle Doll & Toy Co. Is 20 inches tall and was made to compete with Cissy and other 20-inch fashion dolls of the late 1950s. She is all hard plastic except for her soft vinyl face. She’s often called a Cissy look-alike. She appears to be a walker, as her legs move forward and backward like a walker doll, but her head does not turn. She has joints at the head, shoulders, hips and knees. Her face coloring is original, and her blue eyes open and close well. All lashes are present. She has pierced ears and wears her original pearl earrings (no green ear). Her dark blonde hair is rooted and in its original style. Her fingernails and toenails have their original paint. She wears a wonderful dress of vintage fuschia faille (so pretty) done in a simple high-fashion style with dropped waist that is banded and accented with a fabric bow. Plain neckline that opens toward the bust, dolman sleeves with small inside openings. The skirt is box pleated and hangs so nicely. The bodice is fully lined in fuschia taffeta, and four square snaps close the back of the dress. It was custom made by “Brambletwig” and is tagged. A real work of art in my opinion. The hat was custom made especially for this dress by rtrorich (Richard Originals). It is a bucket style with vintage fuschia flowers and raspberry-colored veiling, which can be worn over the face or pushed up. Under the dress, Margie wears a vintage Premier slip that was modified somewhere along the way to fit wider hops like Margie has. It has a pretty satin inset in the back that opens all the way down with snaps. The elastic straps are just a tad long, but stay up fine. A petticoat could be added for more fullness, but I liked the look with less fullness to show off the pretty pleats of the skirt better. Margie wears vintage pink nylon panties and vintage seamed stockings with no issues save a tiny pinhole at the top of the left one. She wears vintage high heels with black bases and replaced elastic in fuschia. Other accessories include a three-strand vintage pearl necklace (which I think was actually a lady’s bracelet) and vintage nylon gloves in dark pink. The lace trim is more reddish in color. They are in good condition. The 20-inch Belle Margie/Marjorie dolls are not easily found, especially in good condition. Her wonderful costume was actually made for Cissy, but I liked it even better on Margie, so she has worn the outfit in my glass doll cabinet for quite some time. Downsizing now, so will be offering some of my favorites as I can bear to part with them. My home is non-smoking, and I thank you for viewing this listing. G’day from Down Under….. Hope all my doll friends are keeping safe. I’m getting old (sigh) and it’s time to pass on the last 56 of my much loved alexanderkins. I know when I depart this mortal coil that none of my kids or grandkids would be interested in these dolls so they could end up in the trash!!! , so I’m hoping there will be a collector who will want and love them as much as I have. First on offer is this all original Little Southern Belle Type from 1955. I think she is stunning!!! She is featured on page 38 of Patricia Smiths MA book, and is a straight leg walker. Her dress has inset lace in the skirt, and also features a flower corsage at the waistline, and tiny rhinestones – two on corsage and one on front skirt. The pictures tell the story, but I will outline any details that the photos don’t show. Her straw hat is original, and is in very good condition, with a band of flowers featured on the brim, flowers that are repeated at the waistline. The tag on the dress doesn’t appear to have been washed, and both studs that close the bodice back are intact. Half slip elastic has relaxed and a previous owner used a pin to ensure that it stayed in place. Panties are in good condition, but shoes are a little worn. When I unpacked her (all dolls were boxed for a house move) I noticed that the band holding her arms in place was broken, so – with what I had – I did replace the rubber band but her arms are still loose, so I would expect the new owner might choose to replace it. I need to mention that there is a tiny spot of rust on the hem of the skirt which you can see in the pictures. I don’t do this unless the whole garment is affected, since I prefer my dolls to be as original as possible. Doll stand comes with the doll. Lots of hugs, Lorraine. This girl is just lovely…… 1956 SLW wearing her blue formal gown, in blue striped taffeta with amazing sleeves, and featuring stylish layering and a huge bow and “train” in back. She is wearing black shoes, and unusual black straw hat trimmed with fruit and flowers. Black loop earrings studded with “diamonds” – but what really stands out with this doll is the incredible and unique hair-do. It’s a special hairdo that is up-swept with curls on each side of her face and forehead. Check out her hairstyle from the back….. Every hair in place. Particularly, this girls hairdo is in original and beautiful condition. Doll stand comes with the doll. Lots of hugs, Lorraine.
