Available are two lovely Madame Alexander dolls, a boy and girl, I believe from the very early Friends from Foreign Lands collection. Both are dressed in their original clothing with hats, socks and shoes. The clothing is in good condition, some fading. Both have tags that read SWISS Madame Alexander, N. Each doll has its original blond mohair wig. They are made of composition in good, although not perfect condition Please see the photos for details. Both are marked on the back. I could not believe my eyes when I realized she had an Alexander tag on her cute dress. I later discovered, with much research, that she was a 24 Betty. Like many Alexander composition dolls, she is not marked. She has her original human hair wig in its original curls, placed over a slightly molded head. Her eyes work smoothly and I love her pouty mouth. I wonder if Alexander was trying to compete with Patsy as this is the same era! The dress has no major flaws and has matching panties. Adorable all original Madame Alexander “Tiny Betty” composition doll from the Birthday series, representing March in her yellow organza tagged dress and bonnet. She measures about 7 inches tall and I’d say that she is in very good condition for her age. I’m offering her exactly as I found her. Her stringing is a bit tight but I believe it is original. Rare little gem that dates between 1937-38. Since she is composition, there is crazing… But no missing pieces or lifting. Delightful mohair wig is meant to resemble those powdered during the time of Marie Antoinette in the 18th century. Note: photos are enlargable. The delicate dress is crisp and remarkably colorful in spite of its age. I see no holes or fraying. The organza center panel has that typical darkened “tea stained” effect from age. I think the black lace she holds is supposed to be a fan because purses weren’t this size in that period (and Mme Alexander was always accurate with her costumes). She’s just wonderful and I have loved her; I’m just downsizing. She comes from a smoke free home and I have displayed her away from direct sunlight. This is one of the most beautiful and adorable, Madame Alexander, jointed composition, (Betty face) “Princess Elizabeth” (1937 deluxe model) dolls we have had the pleasure to offer. Betty has been washed and scrubbed. Has a few marks.. But no cracks and no odors. Original wig has been cut off and carefully. Shaved so there is no old debris on the head. New old stock vintage wig has been added. Wig was shampooed and conditioned and is soft and lovely. Eyes that have all lashes, great lids and they open and close. Eyes are clear and bright. Left eye shows some color loss but is mostly seen at “very close range only” as is shown in. Head moves up, down, and side to side. Arms hold a pose and she can sit or. Stand by herself but…. Belongs in a stand for safety. Legs are walker legs but do not lock. Arms have new elastic stringing. Betty is marked “Alexander 1959″. On her neck under the wig. Body, head and limbs have all over same and even color… She is a very pretty dolly. More photos available if needed.
