She was made this way—she appears to “walk” with posing. But has a very different factory body than the 1953 Winnie Walker Doll shown in the background, for comparison. THIS BINNIE IS A ONE-OF-A-KIND BINNIE WALKER DOLL because I have added several accessories: a “NEW BLUE” AQUA CARDIGAN SWEATER w/ PUSH-UP SLEEVES—tagged “The Doll Clothes Store—Silverton, Oregon”. This doll originally wore a white jersey cardigan sweater so “I have to have a new blue sweater” she whispered shortly after arriving in my Doll Room. “To match my new blue hairbows”. And she has—TWO NEW AQUA GROSGRAIN RIBBON HAIRBOW CLIPS, one on each side. This doll did not come with brass barrettes like Winnie wears. I added a VINTAGE “MADE IN JAPAN” TAGGED “PEARL” NECKLACE with ORIGINAL METAL LOBSTER CLASP—the only necklace this longer length that I have ever seen! Perfect for This Lady! I designed OOAK MINI-PETITE “PEARL” BRACELETS made from MARVELLA PEARLS to be worn on either side of a NEW “DIAMOND” BRACELET. Worn over PEACH PINK LACE OOAK FINGERLESS GLOVES (made my yours truly) to protect her vinyl wrists from “metal marks” from bracelets. (my 1961 Jacque dolls have vinyl wrists that are forever “tatooed” from their original silver bracelets). Miss Binnie carries a OOAK MINI-ROSE & LILY BOUQUET made by yours truly from imported parchment florals—IN WHITE & PINK & BLUE HUES! MISS BINNIE HAS BEEN RESTRUNG but not too tight SO SHE HAS EXCELLENT HEAD TILT & LOVELY “LIFTING” ARMS. THIS BEAUTIFUL BLONDE CISSY BINNIE IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE LIKE HER IN MY COLLECTION. I make no claim that she is “mint”—SHE IS NOT MINT—SHE DOES HAVE SOME SIGNS OF “AGE” as mentioned earlier, repairing her by filling cracks and reinforcing the stress point at her knee and across her bottom. She also has a few small marks (like little dots) on her arms between her gloves and sweater, and minimal “rubs” at hip joints, with a few tiny “nicks” on legs—she has ORIGINAL PINK KNEES! As far as I can tell her dress has not been washed—the fabric appears to have original patina and texture and fits well but not tight—this fabric will shrink with washing as it is 100% cotton. She has been on display in my SMOKE FREE, PET FREE DOLL ROOM protected from sunlight & temperature extremes. I can send you additional photos upon request. This doll is not photographed but is described in detail on page 117 of the book MADAME ALEXANDER COLLECTOR’S DOLLS by Patricia Smith, under the paragraph “Binnie Walker”. She is listed as being 25″ tall—the doll is 24″—her original white cotton jersey stocking cap would have made her 25 tall, it is not included. She came to me without her original hat and sweater. Vintage 50′s high fashion Madame Alexander 20 Cissy doll in OOAK ensemble. Please view the last photo. The outfit on the right is a Christian Dior dress totally covered in flowers, and the ensemble on the left shows the same type of 50′s style with a flower encrusted bodice only. Cissy’s outfit is a two part bodice and skirt. The skirt is a full length lavender fluid charmeuse circle skirt that is fully lined with a lightweight tulle. The bodice has an inner lightweight crinoline and a cotton batiste outer shell, covered with vintage silk flowers and then lined. It snaps up the back with 3 square snaps. Under the ensemble is a full length satin 1/2 slip, a pair of Cissy panties with new elastic at waist, a pair of vintage nylons with a few small holes, and a pair of newly made lavender shoes. Please note that in the nude pictures of Cissy, you see a clear stone bracelet. It is not included, just the multicolored one. Also included is a matching hair clip made with same type flowers of the bodice and a pair of lovely purple gloves to accent her many colored flowers. Cissy herself is a show stopper! She has lovely, full long red hair that is tied up at the sides and pulled back into a long chignon. Her face has had a full spa treatment. All new painted lashes, brows, lips and blush. A matte finish/sealer was applied. She has new lashes in her gorgeous blue eyes. Her arms are nice and have no rips to the rubber. No odors or stains. No split repairs and very minimal inner thigh rubs. There is a small hairline split on the top of the right leg. So thin and not seen unless the leg is tipped out. She felt it was made in the late 50′s. It was made for her Cissy doll by a neighbor. The neighbor made the dress primarily from her own wedding dress. She had no children, and apparently was close to the little girl next door, so she made this amazing dress for her. I don’t know if she was a professional seamstress, but she certainly knew her stuff! The detail in this outfit just goes on and on! The dress and slip have been carefully cleaned and steamed/pressed. So, let’s start with the dress. The dress is satin and it has seed pearl encrusted appliques sewn on it. The dress is not a bright white but has turned a soft ecru color with age. The satin is in pretty nice condition for being 60 years old, with a few bruised areas to the fabric, but no major staining or holes. The bodice is heavily covered in seed pearls, string pearls, and lace. Look closely at the pictures and see the detailed buttonhole stitching that was sewn over every dart and seam of the bodice! Same detail at the sleeve edge. The bodice closes with loops and small buttons and a metal zipper. The bodice fits Cissy absolutely perfect. The skirt of the dress is expertly darted and pleated to accommodate the large wire and horsehair made cage underslip. The back has a long train of looped ribbon. Lace is sewn in layers around the hem. The slip is made of heavy white polished cotton. It is simple in style, but not design. It too is expertly designed to fit over the cage underslip. Note the detailed gussets sewn into the back of the slip. And then, there are 29.5 yards of lace around the bottom! The slip is pretty enough to display by itself! The wired underslip is a work of art in itself. It is the only item I did not hand wash, as the cage is actually made of wire covered with thread and I was afraid the wire would rust. There are a few small rust spots on the part that goes around her waist, but of course, none of that shows when on a doll. The cage is held on with 2 snaps and a ribbon tied around her waist. The wire has become bent and twisted a bit from age and storage, but although it is not the prettiest part of the ensemble, it is workable to make the dress stand out exactly where it is supposed to. The cage also has a nylon puckered bustle sewn across the back. The veil has a heavily encrusted headpiece of pearls, looped satin cording, and lace. It fits my Cissy doll with the updo beautifully. However, the doll that it came with had the shorter Cissy type of casual hairdo. It still looked lovely on her too. The tulle of the veil is in nice condition. The ensemble will also come with a pair of pink Cissy panties. They have new elastic and some repair done at the leg edge. A newly made blue garter, some vintage Cissy nylons, a pearl necklace and a pair of plastic shoes with satin ribbons decorating them. A new bouquet was also made for Cissy with vintage flowers. (stand nor doll are included). This wedding outfit is so unique. I hope someone can envision their beautiful Cissy doll decked out with this gown fit for a queen! I have packed this outfit as carefully as possible to ensure you will not have to endure hours of pressing once you receive it. Please check them all out to select the correct method for your area.
