Madame Alexander Dolls

Baby is made of rubber open and close eyes. Cloth body has some staining she picture. This wines up in the back to play music it still works perfectly. There is a small rip were the box is but not bad considering her age. She rubber head, arms and lids, green eyes. I think she is from the 1950s but that is a guess. She is wearing a beautiful lavender gown with hat and booties plus a pamper cover, dress is silk, lace, and pearls. Comes from a smoke free home.

Active Antique Dolls from a Haunted Town/House! 50s Madame Alexander Kathy wet drink baby. 30s-40s cracked porcelain sleepy baby (see photos for details). We live in a Historical Town with a lot of supernatural activities throughout the decades. From notorious haunted highway canyon where the White Witch appears that leads into historical town where the 1st Hollywood Film Embassy. Our home was built in 1903. It can be seen in Embassy Film photo taken in the 1910s (see photo). Recently, I had a experience with these two dolls. I kept hearing a muffled conversation between these two in the next room over (to my wall where I sleep). These two must find another loving home. This Cissy doll by Madame Alexander has been with me for more than 12 years now. She has been displayed in different outfits during that time, but the ensemble she is listed in is the one she has been wearing for a while now and was intended to be her forever outfit. The aqua taffeta dress from 1957 is tagged and has the longer waltz-length skirt that stands out so beautifully. The taffeta is very crisp. This dress would have been worn under a black velveteen bolero in the past, which caused some wrinkling of the cap sleeves and the tag to not lay flat. Not sure I ever had the bolero. The dress closes in the back with four square snaps, which are all working and secure. The vintage corsage made from Alexander-type flowers was added by me. Even has the wrapped stems like a real ladies corsage from the 50s era. It is tacked on and can be removed, but I don’t know why you’d want to. Tacking is not my forte, but it has been secure for display. There are no spots, stains, holes, open seams or other problems with the dress. The taffeta has such a beautiful sheen, as you can see in the photos. Underneath the dress, Cissy wears a pretty white taffeta can-can slip trimmed with tulle and rick rack (not a Cissy item, but better), white taffeta lace-trimmed Cissy panties with good original elastic, and Cissy seamed stockings with no holes or runs. Her shoes are awesome Premier high heels with gold elastic and pearlized bases with heels that are encrusted with tiny rhinestones in various colors. So perfect for this dress. These shoes had not been used before dressing Cissy in this costume. Her frilly tulle hat with excellent flowers is original to a different Cissy outfit (#2146 from 1957), but ties in so well with the dress corsage. It does not have a chin strap, but rather a hatpin to use. I never used the pin. Just placed the hat on Cissy’s head once she was situated for display. Cissy’s accessories include a three-strand pearl necklace with spring clasp, “diamond” stud earrings holding pearl drops, vintage white nylon gloves, stretchy pearl bracelet, blue stone ring (not a Cissy item), and a gold metal purse with chain handle. This charming little purse is weighty, but Cissy’s arm has no problem supporting. The purse doesn’t snap shut at the top, but has a spring hinge at the bottom which closes it. A really pretty and unusual item. Although Cissy is an exquisite display, she has some flaws that need to be noted. She was sent for a spa treatment not long after I got her. Her blushing was refreshed and hair redone. Can’t recall if anything else was done. I believe her brush eyelashes are the original ones. What was not repaired (and I suppose it was not requested) were the two splits at the tops of her legs where they go into the body cavity. The one on the left leg is not visible on the outside; the one on the right leg is visible about 1/4 inch outside the body cavity. The other thing which cannot be repaired is a “nip” out of her lower left arm where it joins the upper portion. If her arm is bent at the elbow, it shows (but it is in the back so not seen from the front). If you push the lower part back up under the upper, it closes and is not seen. The last two photos show the nip if the elbow is bent and not seen when the arm is straightened and pushed up with a slight twist. You can also see it is not visible in the back view photo. I can say that during the many years I’ve owned her, these issues have not changed. But if any of this bothers you, this Cissy is not for you. Her hairdo has stayed very nice, but the curls drawn back at the nape of the neck have developed a little frizz. Nothing distracting, in my opinion. Due to the limited number of pictures that can be posted, I did not include those of the splits/cracks, but they are available upon request. If you are seriously considering her, I would want you to be able to see those. I could have changed out her arms at any time, but elected to not do so since the skin tone of her original body parts matched well. I did undress Cissy to let you view her blushing and skin color. Doubt that I will undress any doll in the future. Have to be so careful. And getting those gloves off and back on was a painstaking process. I need to add that her stringing is good. Her eyes seem more blue in person, but the camera sees green, also. Cissy will be available for 30 days, but will not be relisted after that time. Although needing to downsize, keeping her would not break my heart. I have many different pictures that can be supplied. Have some good close-ups of the hat you might want to see. Come Have Tea with Cissy! Cissy is dressed in a rose-hued tea formal for a delightful afternoon with You! Its a bit big on her and has some minor flaws, but Cissy is clever and pinned it so it fits! Shes not going to pass up the perfect dress just because it might be a bit big. Her vintage undies are authentic to the time-period. The satin bra is very nicely and cleverly mommy-made, while her garter belt is machine made, although rather stretched in the elastic area and has aged in color over the years. Her silky thigh-high nylons are perfect with her vintage and period-authentic Cissy-styled high-heeled sandals. The elastic is relaxed over the toe area but they perfectly compliment her undies and dress. A vintage faux pearl necklace completes her beautiful ensemble. She is as ready as roses for tea! Cissys golden blond Saran wig is authentic to this time period and looks darling on her. It may be an MA original Cissy wig, but Ive had it for so long, I honestly cant authenticate it. I have woven a vintage pink satin ribbon through it and attached vintage flowers. The wig retains its original pins and is in a beautiful factory-original set. Cissys head is a Binnie that was placed upon a more modern Cissy body. Her arms are straight plastic, not vinyl, and do not bend, but her legs are jointed and do. Her clear blue eyes open and shut, she has all of her black brush lashes, although the eyelids do have rubs in the paint, and there is a nick above one eye. There is also a nick above her cute little nose. Her face paint looks good, but the cheek blush is faint and her face is pale. Please look at the photos carefully to assist you in your purchasing decision. If you need more photos, please ask. Like most of us, Cissy isnt perfect and comes with the aforementioned imperfections. She IS 70, but she looks fabulous! Would you expect her to look any less?
