Madame Alexander Dolls

This is one of those times when pictures say a thousand words. Here is the Alexander Doll Company’s very rare yellow version of boxed extra item #22-60, the dotted Swiss tulle gown from 1959, also catalogued by FAO Schwarz as item #25-21-2. With an extremely critical eye, I must say this gown is in as near mint condition as mint can be – I reserve awarding that title only because it does not have its original box. This bright & crisply tagged gown has a cotton organdy underskirt; there is not a single spot of soiling or as much as a snag anywhere in either the organdy or the yards of overlaying tulle. Closure is at the back with four square snaps. Usually seen in the more familiar red version, both the yellow and the blue gowns are extremely rare and a favorite among collectors. Underneath Cissy is wearing vintage hosiery, and the gorgeous silk taffeta & tulle yellow slip (with matching original panties) is a perfect replica of the slip originally seen with this spectacular gown. Cissy is wearing a topaz set of rhinestone jewelry and an original Cissy “diamond” ring, and she carries yellow vintage gloves and an original vintage white & gold hatbox. Her vintage original gold sandals make the outfit complete! Cissy is exquisite, an early 1956 painted girl with gorgeous features, her blush & lip color have been lightly refreshed. She has a beautiful thick russet wig in the perfect style for the occasion, with curls at both the crown and nape of her neck. Her eyes are a literally spectacular ocean blue with full thick lashes. VINTAGE Madame Alexander Cissy doll with rare green tulle gown. She is a nice brunette with her original band and nylons. No shoes with this gown. The gown is from 1957-58 and is NOT perfect but quite rare if you collect these dolls. The gown has the original roses and rhinestones but some stains as I’ve showed. The gown is tagged. I will include an extra slip underneath if you wish to puff out the dress a bit. No underwear with this doll. The dress also has a little shawl I guess you can say attached to it. Again the dress is not perfect, several stains but the color is quite nice for the lime green. The doll is in very nice condition, her eyes do stick when closed but they open easily. This beautiful doll is clean and bright, ready for your collection. This vintage Cissy has a tagged tea-length gown of pink tulle. With flocked flowers dotting the pleated skirt. This is a 1959 Cissy Bride wearing her voluminous pleated tulle gown and she is ready to add to your collection. Beautiful blue sleep eyes. She may have had work on her eyebrows, but it isnt discernible to me. Cissy has had cheek color added to her face, and has been professionally sealed. She has a porcelain-like finish, so clean and fresh! Excellent body with no apparent seam splits or repairs that I can see. Clean, odor free, well strung doll. Cissy wears her original tulle gown, slip, panties, stockings and shoes. She even wears her garter on her leg! One stocking has a tiny 1 run at the knee and the elastics have been replaced on the shoes since the old ones were all stretched out. Original beautiful headpiece and veil and replaced bridal bouquet. Two or three tiny nips in the veil and one 1 tear in the tulle skirt that disappears in the pleats. Vintage 1950′s Madame Alexander Cissy doll. Hard plastic/ jointed vinyl arms. Tosca hair, stitched part, in curls. In 1950′s taffeta and tulle net gown. Presented here is a stunning Madame Alexander 1950′s Cissy doll. She is 20 tall, hard plastic with jointed vinyl arms, no splits. She has lovely high coloring, red mouth, blue sleep eyes with hair upper lashes and painted under lashes. Her hair is in lovely curls with bangs, tosca color. Marked Alexander on the back of the head. She is wearing a fabulous original 1950′s gown of tangerine taffeta covered in net tulle with self ruffle trim and rhinestones straps. It has a full circle skirt. Comes with a cotton petticoat with tulle flounce and white panties. Please read description for flaws. This is a hard to find dress made of sheer printed nylon with Val lace trim on bodice, cuffs and collar. Three rhinestone buttons accent the bodice. Four smaller rhinestone studs accent the cuffs. The dress unfortunately has wear, tear and soiling. There is spotting and staining throughout. Lace trim has yellowed from age. There is a tear to the right side of bodice near sleeve seam as well as one on the bottom of the dress. Please see last two photos. The Dress has a Cissy tag which is worn most likely from washing (not by me). The dress most definitely could use a soaking to see if some of the stains would come out. The dress comes with a beautiful pale pink lace and ruffled tulle slip. The elastic waistband is stretched. It really flounces out the dress. Despite all of the flaws of the dress this would still display nicely on your Cissy doll. Comes from smoke and pet free home. She’s wearing a gorgeous Lemon Tulle dress that is wrapped at the waist to create an attached sash. It is accented with a garland swag of pink and white flowers at the waist and at the neck. She is wearing the original velvet ribbon in her hair which is in an updo with separate bangs. Cissy has pierced ears, a rhinestone bracelet and a ring. Everything that is on the doll is original, not replaced. The doll has no cracks, splits, or stains, not even at the knees or at the hip. She has simply gorgeous coloring with sparkling blue eyes and all her eyelashes. The hair is in original set and its lovely. The bow is just perfect and completes the hairstyle excellently. The dress was hard to photograph and it is actually a more vibrant yellow in person. The dress is just stunning and it sits out so nice and full. The flowers are excellent and show very little age. On the right side in back of the flowers are two areas of damage to the tulle. I believe that it is possible the wire of the flowers caught in the tulle when it was being stored which caused the tears. I’ve photographed this for you to see. Luckily, these areas do tuck into the dress nicely since the tulle is so full. Unless you pull the tulle out and look for it, the tears will never be seen when displaying this lovely doll. I’ve also shown a close-up of how this looks folded in which is the next to the last photo shown. As stated above the yellow color is prettier in person. In the folds the color is a little brighter in some places but it is not overly. And does not detract from the beauty of the dress. Under the dress Cissy wears the correct yellow bloomers and slip. The elastic did relax with age so I have pinned the slip in the back and now it stays up perfectly. The bloomers stay up just fine with out the need for pinning. The hose are in great shape and Cissy comes with beautiful gold heels. The heels are in really good condition with just the slightest relaxation to the elastic. Lastly Cissy’s wears beautiful all original rhinestone jewelry. The earrings have a beautiful shine and are just so fancy! The ring is in excellent condition as is the bracelet and both have nice shiny rhinestones that have not dulled. All together this is such a stunning doll that will stand out in your collection. Up for your consideration is this beautiful all original Madame Alexander Cissy doll from (I believe) the late 1950′s. She measures 20 inches in height and is dressed in what I think is her original darkish green tulle dress, embellished with little fabric roses and rhinestones. The dress has an underskirt and bodice lining of a finely woven ecru colored fabric. There is a label in the back seam of the underskirt that reads: “Cissy” Madame Alexander. She also has a half slip in a sort of taffeta with the hem lined in a gathered length of the same green tulle as the dress. The elastic of the waist of the half slip has been gathered with an elastic thread, I suppose because the elastic appears to be loose. She is wearing a pair of panties with lace trim at the leg openings. The elastic at the waist of the panties has also been gathered with elastic thread. She has on a pair of nylon stockings. Held up by elastic garters accented with a shiny embellishment. She also is wearing a pearl “necklace” that looks like it is strung on a wire and pearl earrings. She has delicately painted eyebrows, lustrous eyelashes on her working green sleep eyes, a darling upturned nose and lightly painted pouty lips. Her hair may be in need of some styling, but is in pretty good shape considering her age. She is marked on the back of her head “ALEXANDER”. There is a metal “headband ” across the top of her hair which seems to be original. Overall I believe that she is in very good condition, but could probably use a good gentle cleaning. Her stringing is intact and all of her fingers are in good shape, with no chew marks of anything else. I have been asked about any cracks or splits on the doll. Ther are no cracks or splits on her. Her torso is fine (no cracking at the crotch seam) , as are her legs and neck socket. Her panties are so tight on the legs that i wont remove them for fear of damaging her stockings and garters.
