This rare and hard-to-find 8″ doll is “LA PETIT ARLEQUIN #45700, produced by the Alexander Doll Company for one year only (2007). She wears a spectacular costume of striped slate blue satin, trimmed in black, with an underskirt of black tulle, all “topped” off by her great hat. Costume is tagged “La Petit Arlequin, by Madame Alexander, New York, New York” on the back inside waist seam. Hat is also tagged — Madame Alexander, (c) 2000 Alexander Doll Co. Cute doll with black curly hair, blue sleep eyes and of course her wonderfully painted white face. A unique and special doll to add to your collection! I consider myself a lucky person to have owned such a rare & stunning example of Madame Alexander’s dolls. This beauty, one of the original painted Cissys manufactured by Madame Alexander in one year ONLY 1955, was nicknamed the “Waltz Doll, ” perhaps because when looking at her it’s easy to imagine her twirling around the dance floor, this luxurious blue satin gown flowing around & behind her. What a beautiful vision! Cissy’s tagged blue slipper satin gown is in very good condition for its age. The are no holes, rips or tears. Absolutely gorgeous but not mint; there is some faint staining & scuffing here & there, although you can see from her photographs how beautifully it displays. I mention these things because they can be seen with spotlighting, but on normal display these imperfections seem to melt away with the folds & beauty of the satin. It’s not perfect, but breathtaking none-the-less. The beautiful front decorative braiding is studded with both clear & blue rhinestones (all are present) and metallic silver thread. Closure is at the back with five square snaps. Underneath Cissy wears the original taffeta panties and original slip elastic at the waist has relaxed on both, and was re-tightened with elastic thread; there is some light age spotting. The slip has an extra-wide bottom flounce trimmed with the blue satin which matches the gown. Cissy has vintage hosiery and her original silver strappy sandals. This Cissy didn’t have pierced ears, but has small half rhinestones on each lobe. She wears her vintage “diamond” ring, and a silver & rhinestone bracelet made in the likeness of the original. Both her spectacular vintage floral bandeau & white feather fan with pewter fleur-de-lis were reconstructed with complete respect to the original design. I’m perhaps prejudiced, but I do believe this is one of the most beautiful Cissys Madame Alexander created. She is completely original and has only been re-matted to protect her gorgeous color & features. Several items given this doll were never again used on any other Cissy – the most prominent being her stunning thick light brown wig, with both longer bangs & longer curls tied at the back. 1950 21 Maggie Walker! This beautiful Maggie is wearing her complete original tagged outfit! Other than a slight fade on part of the bodice & on part of the right front skirt pleat, and as you can see this doesn’t at all distract from how well she shows off!! this dress is in beautiful condition. Cute white ric-rac & lace trim at the neckline are the perfect touches, and a deep pleat down the skirt at center front is a welcome addition, all tucked together with a wine-colored faux-suede belt. Closure is at the back with four white buttons. Underneath Maggie wears bloomers that match her dress, and she loves to show off her coordinated wine-colored center snap faux-suede shoes! Her nylon socks are never before worn originals. Completeing her outfit is a very cute vintage four leaf clover necklace with a blue rhinestone center, a vintage pearl bracelet, and Maggie’s vintage original pink beauty box with a comb & curlers inside.
