Made by Madame Alexander in 1951, this is Madelaine. She is a lucky girl that comes with a wardrobe as seen in the pictures. She stands 16 tall and is made of vinyl and hard plastic. Her body is unique and appears to be “ball” jointed. She is wearing her original pink satin slip that is tagged with matching undies, and a pink bow in her hair that has the original set. Her hair could use a touch up on her curls in the back but seems to be full and good other than that. She wears her original shoes and socks as well. She also comes with a pink satin party dress tagged “Madame Alexander 16″ doll. Included are printed top and red shorts, flower dress, green corduroy coat with scarf, handbag and hat, and long nightgown. (There is some staining on the back of the gown) She is really a beauty in nice condition for her age. Please look at the pictures closely and ask questions if needed. The stand is not included. She is a real sweetheart looking for a good home.

Here is a lovely beautifully preserved Madame Alexander Madelaine doll which ranged from 1950-53. Some sellers refer to it as “Madeline”, but the tag has the correct spelling. She is the first of her vinyl-headed dolls with a hard plastic body, jointed at the neck, arms, elbows, hips & knees. This one is a wonderful 18 example from 1952 (appears in this tagged pink outfit on page 49 of the reference book Madame Alexanders Collectors Dolls Price Guide #15, by Patricia A Smith, 1990) with dark blonde shiny curls a glued on wig fine facial color with no gouges nor scratches, & pale hazel sleep eyes with real lashes. Her expression is not just a blank empty look, is so pleasant & endearing. The tagged pink organdy dress trimmed with lace & pale blue ribbon has a white cotton petticoat & pink panties. The black real leather slip on shoes may or may not be original, but are definitely by the same age, are of super fine quality, marked The Halls, in a circle inside on the sole. Her socks have a pink stripe at the ankle. Of course, the hat has been added just for fun, made of woven vinyl? Straw, a pink velvet ribbon, & vintage silk velveteen flowersa good match for the outfit. There are no stains nor losses, repairs nor cracks to the doll nor her outfita very clean & well-preserved doll that does not appear to have been played with. Her body is securely strung but is a bit loose, in so far as she does not stand alone but responds to some posing, however not sloppyjointed as is. From a No Smoke Environment. Madelaine du Bain is from my personal collection. She is very nice example, made in 1938. She is 14′ tall and composition with human hair wig and has the Wendy Ann face. She was made exclusively for the FAO Swartz department stores. She is wearing a 1880 French costume. Her dress is light blue organdy with tiny flower print all over. Black velvet trim and bows on her dress. She has not been washed. Attached is her white cotton hoop slip and separate panties. White socks and side snap patent leather shoes are original with satin bows on each toe. Nylon straw hat with with black satin bows and and small bunch of straw flowers on each side of her bonnet. Her hair is in its original set, is a beautiful blonde mohair wig. She is a lovely doll for her age of over 85 years. Madeleines is in nearly mint condition, beautiful vinyl face, high cheek color, no marks, stains, or rubs, perfect eyelashes original blonde wig is in original set I love the braid and curls in the back! A very beautiful doll in her own right. Her body is like an antique ball jointed body. Only made for a year, I think. Her body is very clean with only a little black mark in the top of her left foot from the oilcloth shoe. With a little effort, and maybe soft scrub, it should come off but doesn’t show with socks. Stringing is original, arms good, legs or knees a tiny loose. She comes with wardrobe. First garment is a pink taffeta slip trimmed in lace, button closure, tagged Madelaine. Her pink panties match. There is black mark on back of slip (see photo). Her original costume is a pink organdy dress with short puff sleeves trimmed in lace and embroidered rose buds. Dress is clean and crisp. No holes, mends, etc. Matching Hat is natural straw trimmed with lace with pink satin ribbons and mini flowers. Shoes are pale pink satin, side snap, trimmed with bow, flat soles. Shoes have minor fraying along some edges. She also comes with clothing marked/tagged. 18 Tall Madame Alexander fashions, NEW YORK, USA including. Pale lavender wool coat with white collar and cuffs, lined in white taffeta. Lavender straw hat with pink ribbon. With slip on, it is difficult to snap shut. The hat I assume goes with this outfit is pinky/natural straw with blue straw band and pink velvet flowers. Looks smaller than other hats, but it all came together. Black oilcloth center snapped shoes in good condition, with some scuffing issues, velvet soles. Cute 2 piece swimsuit/ sun suit marked 18 Madame Alexander in green check with purple rosebuds print. Lace trimmed panties have tag, bra top has button closure. Clean and very cute. Terry cloth robe, pinkish terry, pale green? Satin collar and pocket with matching cord tie. Looks unplayed with, but may have slightly darkened with age. Hard to know but in nice condition. Pale pink cotton nightgown, trimmed at waist with blue ribbon. Looking close, after all these years, back of nightgown discolored and one brown stain…. Never noticed this before, but I’ve had huge success getting this type of stain out with oxiclean spray. If I don’t sell her, I’ll be giving this a try. This is also tagged 18 TALL Alexander. This is a RARE C1940 Madame Alexander Madelaine du Bain Doll Strung Composition 15 Inch Wendy Ann. Madelaine is a clean strung all composition doll with the Wendy Ann face. Her stringing is tight and she has brown sleep eyes (crazed) with all her fur lashes. There are painted lashes below her eyes and she has dark eye shadow. Her composition has a little bit of crazing. She has her original blond wig with blue hair bow. Her original dress is tagged Madelaine and includes a blue print skirt with pink roses, and sheer pink top. There is brown age staining mostly to the sides of the skirt with some in front. The pink organdy sleeves have a touch of aging. The ruching on the left sleeve has come apart. She is also wearing short pantaloons with an attached lace-trimmed hoop skirt. The shoes and socks are original with bows to the front of the black leatherette side snap shoes (both shoes are missing parts of the sole and heel).
