Madame Alexander Dolls

R 1948 Near Mint Madame Alexander Nina Ballerina. In Rare Tagged Yellow Tutu. This exquisite beautiful ballerina is one of the gems in my collection and is in near mint condition. She has her original stringing, which is still at exactly the right tension. Starting with her head, Nina has the lightest blond flaxen hair with her hair upswept into a top chignon with her headdress of yellow flowers and one cabbage rose. She should have two more. Her bangs could use a wee bit of curl – an easy fix. Ninas face is beyond exquisite and one of the best Ninas I have ever seen. Lovely matte peaches and cream complexion, high colour rouge, beautiful red lips and the bluest of eyes. Ninas rare yellow tutu is crisp with no wilting. Nina comes with pale pink ballet tights/stockings. Again rare for this line of Ninas. There is the tiniest of holes on her camera right leg. Her pink ballet slippers do show some age wear which is to be expected. Nina is an ex Lia Sargent Doll, though the paper work has been lost to time. No need to be concerned about packing. I use plenty of bubble wrap and packing peanuts or appropriate substitute. Make sure to look at all the pictures, THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. A beautiful doll with high color cheeks & lips, no rubs. Blue sleep eyes with all their lashes. Factory styled hair that still retains the original flower wreath. Her bangs are all there, just some pushed back from storage. Strung just right so she is easy to pose. Some white spots on back of her left leg, no unwanted hard plastic odors. All original tagged tutu with attached matching underwear that are brighter pink than the tutu. Mostly on back there are faded brown dots that look to wash out, some on right sleeve, as pictured. Front of the tutu has very few dots and they are hardly noticeable. Still retains original flower applique on waist and on left shoulder. Back of neck is marked “Alexander”. VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER 14 NINA BALLERINA DOLL Hard Plastic , Margaret Face , Floss Wig , Tagged Dress , All Original. Here is a lovely 14 hard plastic, strung Nina Ballerina doll. Her face has nicely painted features and original cheek blush. Sleep eyes work well and she has all original applied brush lashes. The dolls shiny blonde floss wig is in the original up-do hairstyle with curls and four flowers. There are just a few fly-aways. Curly bangs are at her forehead. Her body appears to be in excellent condition with minimal signs of play wear. Her head stringing is a little loose but it can be placed in position and stay there. The doll has an original, hard-to-find, metallic beaded choker necklace. Her tagged satin dress is trimmed with gold rick-rack and flowers that match the ones in her hair. The dress has layers of tulle on the skirt portion. I found some small holes in the tulle most in the second (underneath) layer. Theres only a tiny bit of age yellowing on the tulle; you have to look closely to see it. The dress has a stiff underslip and attached, lace-trimmed panties. Nina wears original satin ballet flats that might have never been removed. All clothes are in very good, gently worn condition. Please look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description. She does have a faint “hard plastic” scent that you sometimes find on old dolls, but it’s not at all sour or unpleasant and is not mold. She has never been played with or undressed, see her perfect shoe ribbons, hairstyle and flowers, and bright white coloring of her tagged tutu and underslips. She has her original wrist string that held her wrist tag as well. Jointed hard plastic body with perfect blue sleep eyes and high facial coloring with red lips and cheeks, clothing is like new, with original Nina Ballerina Madame Alexander tag. She wears the winter white tutu with silver rickrack trim with flowers at the waist and shoulder and in her hair, pink satin ballet shoes with ribbons that have never been disturbed, and her original bloomers with snap back and attached second net slip. She has her original curls in her bangs and her hairstyle has not been disturbed. Sleep eyes open and close freely, she holds a pose well with her neck and arms. The only flaw I can see is a tiny paint rub on her upper left lip (see pictures), and the shoe ribbons have a tiny bit of fraying on the edge but still retain their factory placement. Her larger underslip also has silver rickrack trim, and her long tutu is factory-pleated and like new. She wears a little string of beads as well. I did not undress her as I don’t want to disturb her perfect outfit. Her original box still retains its Madame Alexander face label and is numbered Style 4015, checked white for color and blonde for hair and blue for eyes. Box has some light discoloration overall and some creasing along a couple of the bottom edges but is quite sturdy and has its original pink tissues inside. This rare near-mint example of this sweet doll would make a wonderful gift for the advanced collector.
