1955 Alexander Cissy doll , 21″ tall, hard plastic doll, jointed elbows and knees, high heel feet, sleep eyes and wigged, clothes are tagged “Cissy. 1955 was the first year that Cissy dolls were produced. The petticoat identifies this doll as being from that y ear. The later Cissy’s did not have the upper arm joint. The lovely deep red “Tag” dress, decorated with rhinestones, and the doll itself, other than restringing, are in mint condition. She has been checked at the joints are there is no damage except for a minor crack on the leg near one knee. The eyes open and close. Her hair is in it’s original set with original hair clips, rosy cheeks, all of her eye lashes, beautifully painted. The shoes are damaged as you can see in the pictures. Original box not included. There is no doll included. The dress is yellow with vertical floral strips at the top of the dress and horizontal floral strips at the bottom of the full skirt. It also has 3 rows of small green rick rack at the bottom. There are 4 snaps that fasten in the back along with a pretty yellow ribbon around the waist. It is beautifully decorated with lace around the neckline and arms. There are also 5 rhinestones on the front that are in excellent condition. There are 3 in the body portion and 2 in the neckline. There is no fading, no stains, no holes or tears in the dress or lace. Also included is a stiff petticoat to help hold the dress out. The only thing that would improve this dress is a light washing and pressing. MADE FROM A VINTAGE PATTERN AND FABRICS. Will also fit the 20 Miss Revlon, Dollikin and like dolls. This ensemble is constructed in the style of and with the same attention to detail as Cissy’s originals… Many of my items are made in the likeness of Original designs.. My torso gown pattern was obtained from a tattered original which I took apart stitch by stitch to create a copy as close as possible to the original. Cissy models my version or copy of the #2100 mauve taffeta torso dress seen on page 33 of Madame Alexander’s Ladies of Fashion book. Not sure if this gown was meant to have the sleeves facing out as shown in this book, but I’ve seen it displayed both ways and really prefer them inside as usually seen on the velvet gowns. This allows the beautiful style of the bodice to be at it’s best. The fabric is a lovely mauve linen with a silk texture and backing. It has a nice weight and feel. The perfect shade braided trim was placed along the bodice edge and the inner sleeve edge. The gown bodice is lined with taffeta. I believe all these fabrics are vintage. The book speaks of this trim being caught on both sides with a circle of pearls, so I used what I hope will represent this look. I also created a petticoat much like the original of vintage taffeta. Vintage ribbon edges the fine tulle and vintage lace trims the attached panties. I pulled them inside out for the photo so you can see them. Of course the gown has the attached bra inside so Cissy is well covered… !! Starting price of my auctions reflect what is invested in the ensemble… !!
