This is a darling Madame Alexander 1956 doll and wearing a sweet kins tagged 1955 outfit called. “Wendy Plans Shopping Trip With Grandma”. She is a BKW which means she is a bent knee walker. This doll is in excellent condition with original dark brown triple stitched wig in curl set, bright face coloring with brown brows, green sparkle eyes that open and close easily, black under lashes. Pink cheeks and bright red lips. Her body is in excellent tightly strung condition and walker works. Alex is wearing her cotton navy and white dress, felt star tagged jacket, tagged kins undies. Smooth bottom shoes and rayon socks. Adorable doll comes with her kins beanie felt hat to complete her outfit. Dress is in good clean condition and ready to display with her Red and White Toy Bear. Most of the original items were in the trunk, including this signature “Cissy Takes a Trip” outfit. The outfit includes the houndstooth skirt, white shirt, tagged black jacket, red cotton slip and hat. Note that the material on the edges of the sleeve opening of the shirt are a variation as they are NOT edged in lace. CONDITION: The outfit appears to have been well taken care of by the original owner and is in nice condition overall. Some wrinkling from storage. The hat may need a bit of re-shaping and the chin strap has lost much of it’s original stretchiness. There is maybe just a touch of general soil on the top and jacket and, if you look closely, there’s just a tiny bit of faint color transfer on the right side of the collar of the top (most likely from the original red bow tie which is no longer present). There is a small mend to a side seam of the jacket. The skirt and slip both look very nice. Waistbands still have stretchiness. I’ve been questioned about the flowers on the hat. All I can say is they’re the flowers that were on the hat when I acquired it and I have no reason to think they are not original. If they vary from what is commonly recognized for this outfit, please remember that, as mentioned above, the edges of the sleeves of the shirt are also a variation. Madame Alexander DID have variations in her clothing and accessories. In my opinion, if the flowers are different from what is commonly found, then they’re a variation, not a replacement.
