Vintage 1953 Madame Alexander Queen Elizabeth Coronation Doll , WITH CAPE. In 1953, Abraham & Strauss, the New York department store, commissioned Madame Alexander to create a doll-sized version of Queen Elizabeth IIs coronation! With a desire to ensure the best outfits for these dolls, Madame Alexander worked with the British Museum of Costume to create 36 dolls that represented the queen and her court with supreme accuracy Scott 15. This rare doll is part of a collection, and has almost NEVER been handled or touched. Complete with satin lined red velvet cape with gold trim (very rarely seen) , petticoat, tights, shoes, crown, jewels, and gloves. Some age spots on gown and petticoat, and satin cape lining (as shown), this doll has been wonderfully preserved and cared for. What an ideal addition to any collection!
