Madame Alexander Dolls

These are two of Madame Alexander’s original Little Women dolls, Jo and Marme, c. 1948 and 1949, bought for me at the now-defunct Atlanta landmark, Rich’s Department Store, as a tacit reward/bribe for behaving at the dentist’s office. They are 14-inch dolls that were never playthings, so they are in excellent condition. Their clothing has the cloth labels on the back of the dresses. Each lady has an underslip, pantaloons, stockings and shoes. My only granddaughter has never been interested in dolls, so the sale will go towards her college education. These composition quintuplet dolls measure 7 tall and are well marked. It is embossed’Alexander’ on their backs and also on the backs or their necks you can see a marking. Their original clothing smells a bit musty – like they’ve been packed away for a long time. Two still has the cloth label attached to the collar. Three of the 5 have some degree of touch up paint on their faces. One doll needs her arms restrung. However, the composition is in decent condition with very slight paint wear on the backs of their legs. No cracking or breaks, or missing fingers. Very cute clothing – each in a different color. The two in dresses also have slips underneath. Amazing they all stayed together over the years. I believe these are in the early 1940s or older. FREE scheduling, supersized images and templates. This is an original vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll dress from 1958 known as the blue camellia variation print dress. It is tagged Cissy and is in excellent condition. All the snaps are present and the tag is sewn in the center back seam. I do not believe it has ever been washed since these dresses tend to bleed easily when washed. They were kept in a China Cabinet and not played with. They are in excellent condition, no cracks or chips and are approx 7.5 inches tall. They come with a 7 inch square wood Playpen. They all have their gold name tag pins. The only issues are Annette is missing one shoe and the dresses have slightly yellowed from aging in the cabinet. My belief is the clothes can be easily cleaned. THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ODOR and were NOT IN A SMOKING HOUSE. This is truly a great collectible set. International will be calculated. Each has original clothing and embroidered name tag bib. The pictured, original booklet comes with the dolls, as does the bag of name tag pins. Cecile was pictured without a sock but we found it later in her box. Each of the four dolls comes with her original box. They boxes do have some rips and tears and show age and wear.
