This is a Rare 1939 Madame Alexander Carmen Doll Composition 15 Inch in Original Costume. This rare 1939 all composition strung doll is marked Alexander to the back of her neck, and her clothing is tagged Carmen. This doll was made to capitalize on the popularity of singer/actress Carmen Miranda. She has the Wendy face and is a rare and hard to find doll. For reference, please see Rare and Hard to Find Madame Alexander Collector Dolls by Barbara Jo McKeon, page 23. Her stringing is tight and she poses nicely. There is little to no composition crazing and she has all her face paint and fur eyelashes. Her original clothing has some tan aging to her pink satin sleeve and the front of her peplum as well as the beautiful lace apron and pleated organdy skirt ruffle. She is wearing a stiff petticoat and white satin panties underneath the skirt, as well as red side snap shoes trimmed with red bows. Her Carmen hat is trimmed with flowers and fruit.
