Stunning 1951 Fashions of the Century Margaret Face 18 Doll Madame Alexander. This is one of the ultimate Madame Alexander rarest dolls! She is all original! Tagged gown is in fabulous condition. Has original wrist tag. Sleep eyes work well. Red hair is still in original set. Gown is in amazing condition. No rips, stains or tears. Has undergarments and shoes. The original owner told us that she bought this doll from the author of Madame Alexander An American Legend. I believe the outfit is Wendy Ann and the face to this doll is the Margaret face. She is in excellent condition and her face is just perfect (rarely seen) and her hair is perfect as well. She wears her original outfit which is mostly in tact. However, the lace around her arms has some issues as does the head piece (see images). Her stringing is tight and she closes her eyes nicely. She is hard plastic with no cracks or splits. Circa late 1940′s. She is from a smoke free home. She is a rare find in this condition. Check out my other nice Alexander 14 dolls from this same period. Fabulous composition, virtually no crazing on this doll, its really exceptional, all original costume including hair piece and shoes, there are however NO stockings or socks. Her coloring is exceptional, eyes function freely, a few missing lashes on one eye, lips need a little touchup. Ill leave that up to you if you want to fix it or not. She is wearing her original party style dress of aqua with tulle netting overlay trimmed with yellow flowers along the edgelines and also yellow rosebuds are sewn on to the body of the dress as well. Please note, there is some age damage to the tulle of this dress. It is delicate but still worthy of repairing. Still has her floral headband in her hair. She is free from smoke or odors. I just strung her for you so she is tight and you wont need to do anything to the body anyway. Focus on restoration lies with her hair and dress. She was not a collector, these were her childhood dolls. He said she could just never part with them, but she passed over a year ago and he decided it was time for them to find new homes. Research indicates that “ACTIVE MISS” was made with two bodies—the earlier 1954 dolls had the ball-joint bodies, and the later 1954 “PRE-CISSY” Active Miss dolls had the body of this Beauty listed here. If you compare her hard plastic jointed legs with the 1955 BINNIE doll, I also have listed, you will see they both have the same SLENDER JOINTED HARD PLASTIC LEGS with ORIGINAL PINK KNEES, and BEAUTIFULLY SCULPTED DAINTY “LIFE-LIKE” KNEES! It is my conclusion that this BEAUTIFUL ACTIVE MISS DOLL WITH CISSY FACE was a “TRANSITION CISSY DOLL”—A “MARKET TEST” DOLL—to try out the JOINTED VINYL ARMS on a CISSY FACE 18″ DOLL to confirm the investment being made to manufacture the 20″ CISSY DOLL IN 1955 with the same jointed vinyl arms, but with jointed hard plastic high heel feet. This Active Miss Doll is not an easy doll to find in reference books because SHE IS SO RARE. In 2009 & 2010, her book value was 850. This was one of the very first dolls I ever “adopted”—SHE SET THE BAR HIGH FOR MY VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL COLLECTION. Her jewelry consists of earrings, 2 bracelets, 2 rings. Cissy has full lashes, original blush, and a thick preferred dark brown wig. I could not find any flaws with her.
