Here is a vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll from 1958. She is very elegant, in mint condition and all original. This is a high-end very rare doll and one of the most sought after among vintage Cissy collectors who refer to her as Evergreen Cissy. The doll has never been touched. Cissys hair is rich and lustrous. The lovely burnished auburn wig is in its original formal set pulled up and back at the sides and falling into turned-under curls at the nape of the neck. Her face paint is lovely and totally original with no touch-ups and no repainting of any kind. Her eyes are crystal clear blue. I have many Cissy dolls that have had their blushing and hair re-done. They are lovely and I enjoy them, but having an all original doll that looks like it just came from the Alexander factory is a joy. It is difficult to believe that she is so mint and so pristine. Of special note, this doll is featured in Kiley Shaws book, The Cissy Files, on page 43. Cissys gown is spectacular, tagged and very rare. The bodice is constructed of dark green netting over an ivory organdy lining. Evergreen netting is gathered at the neckline to frame the dolls face beautifully. The neckline is further accented by ivory cabbage roses. The gowns skirt is constructed of gathered layers of evergreen netting over an ivory organdy under-skirt. This skirt is very full, keeping with the high standards that Madame Alexander used in those days to costume her elegant dolls. Yards of fabric were used to ensure fullness and a beautiful drape to the clothing. The gowns skirt also boasts a twinkling of rhinestones and ivory roses. Cissy wear the original slip and panties that came with the Evergreen Gown. The slip and panties are constructed with ivory taffeta. The slip has an evergreen ruffle to give further heft to the skirt. The elastic in the panties and slip has relaxed over the years. I ran a silk thread through the waistlines of both. Cissy also wears nylon stockings and brand new silver high heels with silver elastic. Cissys accessories include the Evergreen Gowns matching stole, diamond earring with a matching bracelet, and a new lovely rhinestone lucite evening purse. This doll is amazing in every way. Her outfit, her face, wig, shoes, custom-made stand, and hard specialty box. Her sleep eyes work perfectly and she’s in excellent condition. Note – there is some faint fading of the box edge which is only noticed when the box lid is removed. The stand uses Swarovski-type crystal medallions. The doll is wrapped in tissue and stuffed to maintain dress fullness. I did not tie her into the box for this reason. She is ready to remove from tissue and display — stand is already attached. I love this doll set, and have one of my own — the last pic shows two dolls: one is mine (without the hand tag) next to yours (with the hand tag). Madame Alexander Doll Company has been creating beautifully crafted dolls since 1923. Through the years, the attention to detail and craftmanship has remained top priority while creating dolls based on beloved child hood characters. Bertha “Beatrice” Alexander Behrman (March 9, 1895 October 3, 1990) , known as Madame Alexander, was an American dollmaker. Founder and owner of the Alexander Doll Company in New York City for 65 years, she introduced new materials and innovative designs to create lifelike dolls based on famous people and characters in books, films, music, and art. Among her notable creations were the Scarlett O’Hara doll, the Dionne quintuplets dolls, and a 36-doll set of the royal family and their guests at the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. During her stewardship, the company produced more than 5,000 dolls, many of which became collector’s items. Extremely rare 1 year doll, 1959 Miss Shari Lewis by Madame Alexander. Shari Lewis, the beloved ventriloquist puppeteer performer often appeared with her adorable puppet, Lambchop, on her television show that began in 1960. Shari’s original face, sculpted by Madame Alexander exclusively for the Shari Lewis doll, featured the signature upturned Shari Lewis nose. Her hair is shiny and stunning in the original style. This wonderful doll has the Cissy-style body with hard plastic torso, jointed bending knees, high heel feet, and soft vinyl arms. Please Note: The Doll Stand is Not Included. Also Please Note: The skirt appears slightly crooked in the photos because of the position of the doll stand clamps under the skirt. There is no flaw in the outfit, & it lies perfectly smoothly in reality. The original “Shari” tagged skirt is made from evenly colored brown satin fabric. The skirt is an authentic vintage factory-original tagged true “Shari”…. & it amazingly matches the color of her eyes & hair. A clue as to the originality of this doll’s colors are the doll’s scarcer-to-find brown eyes & gold belt. Other known examples of this doll wearing the emerald green outfit have her with blue eyes & a silver belt… Also with silver shoes, whereas this doll has gold shoes. She is wearing her RARE Tagged skirt in heavy nut-brown satin, gathered with snaps at waist & enhanced by pale yellow ruffled net lace & taffeta petticoat slip. Original corn yellow jersey blouse with button-down back (very minor slight discoloration spot on one upper side of arm of blouse) & pale yellow panties (panties’ elastic stretched but held in place by slip petticoat). She has clear brown outfit matching sleep eyes that open and close with ease, all of her upper brush eyelashes, well defined features and a perfect mouth! Her red hair is in the original set… Original Wide Gold lame’ belt to cinch her waist and that fastens at the back (belt a bit wrinkled in back but still nice & secure). Lace net frilled slip, original panties, original full leg length seamed hose. Gold high heels with gold lame’ straps (the elastic on the straps hold tight & firmly). Original Green Ring on her left hand, cute original watch pin at waist, original green glass beads necklace, and original pearl drop earrings! Research has shown us 3 different outfits for this doll…. & ours now making a fourth known example! Madame Alexander Blonde Margot in her Silver Lamé Ball Gown, Rhinestones straps! Original blonde Up-Swept Style. Margot #921 can be found on pp. “Cissette, A Complete Guide to the Vintage Alexander Dolls” published in 2007. Margot is jointed at her neck, arms, hips and knees. Her Facial Coloring is just Fabulous! She has full Dark Pink Lips, Vibrant Cheeks, Painted Upper and Lower Lashes with Blue Eye Shadow and Feathered Brows. Her Nails are Painted. The Gown does have a slight slight blemish. I dont think its a stain I think its the lame. Its in the front center please look at the photos. Margots Silver Lamé Gown is fully lined with white Organdy. Her Earrings are her original Rhinestone Clover Leaf not the typical three diamond earrings, but the hard to find Aquamarine in the middle of each setting, which matches her Blue Velvet Floral Brooch attached at her waist.
