This is an absolutely gorgeous Madame Alexander Wendy Ann doll made between 1938 to 1944. She has simply lovely coloring and clear blue eyes with full, thick lashes. She has hardly aged in her 78-84-year existence. She wears her tagged blue print dress with red rickrack trim, which closes at the back with 4 white buttons, neckline to hemline, and ties in a bow at the waistline with the same blue printed fabric. Her under-slip is of sky-blue taffeta, trimmed at the hem in crisp tulle, and edged at the sleeves and neckline with a sky-blue loop trim. It closes at the back with two white buttons and is also tagged. Her shoes and socks are original. I stitched together a hole that was in one sock, but it is not visible. The shoes are pretty perfect, but were missing their heels, so I gave them new ones. She came with a replacement wig to me, and I thought this red one, which I had in my wig “collection” would look better on her than the one she came with. This one combs so easily and looks so cute on her. I also had this darling red straw hat in my hat “collection, ” which fits her head perfectly and I added the daisies to the brim. Her purse is vintage – of unknown origin, and I added the red rickrack trim and a matching daisy to pull the whole outfit together. She has no crazing or lifting paint, but I noted some minor scuffs at her joints, which I touched up and sealed. She also had a manufacturing defect on her left pinky, which I filed down and touched-up with a dab of paint. Otherwise, I think she is very lovely and has been well cared-for for eight decades! It is unusual to find a Wendy Ann with as nice a finish and without clouded or “blown” eyes. I know that anyone wanting to add her to their collection would just love her! Thank you for looking!
