7 and a half inch tall Dionne Quintuplets from 1934. All with original clothing, Dr. Dafoe with socks and shoes. Quintuplets have their original gold name pins. The Dionnes were identical quintuplet sisters born in Canada in 1934. All original appendages included. Three of the quintuplets will require internal re-stringing. The Dionne quintuplets (French pronunciation: [dzjn]; born May 28, 1934) are the first quintuplets known to have survived their infancy. The identical sisters were born in Canada, just outside Callander, Ontario, near the village of Corbeil. All five survived to adulthood. The Dionne girls were born two months premature. After four months with their family, they were made Wards of the King for the next nine years under the Dionne Quintuplets’ Guardianship Act, 1935. The government and those around them began to profit by making them a significant tourist attraction in Ontario. The identical quintuplet sisters were, in order of birth. Yvonne Édouilda Marie Dionne. Annette Lillianne Marie Allard. Cécile Marie Émilda Langlois. Émilie Marie Jeanne Dionne. Marie Reine Alma Houle. Doctor Allan Roy Dafoe OBE was a Canadian obstetrician, best known for delivering and caring for the Dionne quintuplets, the first quintuplets known to survive early infancy. Dafoe was born in Madoc, Ontario, the son of a physician. He trained in the same profession and, in early 1909, he went into practice in Callander, Ontario, where he resided for the rest of his life. On 28 May 1934 he assisted in the multiple births of the Dionne family, that saw the survival of the mother and all the children. This got international press notice. He continued to help care for the children for years, and became something of a celebrity in the onslaught of media attention. The government of Ontario gave Dr. Dafoe full guardianship of the quintuplets. Listed for sale is a lovely antique original Madame Alexander doll, made circa 1930s. This doll stands 19 and is marked on her neck Madame Alexander. Her character is Princess Elizabeth a very popular child figure for the 1930s and eventually becoming Queen Elizabeth. Her composition is in excellent original condition, beautiful finish and coloring, having no crazing or breaks. (a 10 out of 10) Her eyes are clear and her eye lashes are full. Her human hair blonde wig is full and in its original style. (3 gold barretts) She is wearing her original organdy dress with lace trim and newer shoes/socks. The dress is in fair to good condition, no breaks and clean, however there are some age spots. This doll is in wonderful original condition and is a true collector’s item. This Doll is very rare and beautiful! I have never seen a more beautiful doll for her age. She is in her original state. I don’t think she has been touched at all. She looks like she was never played with. Her body is so clean. She has very little crazing or cracking. She has no lifting at all. Her eyes are crystal clear and perfect condition all her eye lashes are there. Very rare for a doll her age. Her clothes are custom made for her from vintage Cotton organdy dotted swiss fabric. This fabric is so hard to find these days and very very expensive! The lace is also vintage hand dyed swiss very very expensive! Her booties were hand crocheted to match the vintage French satin ribbon used on her bonnet. They were made by an original Madame Alexander dress slip and bloomers pattern. Her bracelet was also hand made for her! She will always have my heart with her. I love this doll she is truly a Victorian Treasure! I call her Princess Charlotte because she looks just the Royal baby Princess Charlotte. This is an ANTIQUE 1930S COMPOSITION MADAME ALEXANDER DIONNE QUINTUPLETS DOLLS, ORIGINAL CLOTHES, TAGS. This was a wonderful find! They are composition dolls with their original clothes, leather shoes, bonnets & name tags. 3 of the dolls have their bonnets. Each doll has her original dress, leather shoes, slip and bloomers. 4 of the dolls have their original name tags. The dolls are marked Alexander on their backs and each of the dresses retain the original Genuine Dionne Quintuplet Dolls – Madame Alexander cloth tag. One doll still has the original store price tag as well. The joints are somewhat loose, particularly the heads. The arms & legs are a little tighter. The dolls have some crazing from age. One doll’s bloomers have some tears & holes but the rest of the dolls clothes are in great shape and intact. The dolls have some expected age wear but are in VERY NICE condition for their age! Each comes with its own doll stand. The dolls measure 7-1/2 tall. These are FANTASTIC EARLY ANTIQUE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL COLLECTIBLES! Many items have been in storage and may be a little dusty or need a light cleaning. Please expect wear consistent with age and use.
