Yvonne, marie, Annette arms are detached. Yvonne, Marie, Annette and Emily have original bibs. Other clothes are hand made vintage but not original. Dolls have hairline cracks on faces shown in photo. Paint on some of dolls fingers and toes have come off, shown in photo. Overall good condition considering age. All legs and heads are attached. Vintage 1935 Alexander Dionne Quints Quintuples Toddlers 8 Doll Set in Basket. Scroll down for larger views. She was an only child who had wonderful dolls, carefully stored for many years. This is the set of Dionne Quintuplet Toddler Dolls, made around 1936, marked: Alexander on their backs. Made by Madame Alexander. Each doll is 8” high, all composition, jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips. The dolls have adorable faces, with bright coloring, original paint, painted brown side-glancing eyes, painted lashes & brows, red lips, and still rosy cheeks. The paint is excellent and there is no crazing or other issues on the faces. Each wears her original brunette mohair wig, still in the original set. The wigs are soft & clean, without missing or cut pieces. The bodies are also excellent. They have straight legs with cute toddler bodies. The paint is bright, with no re-paint or touch-ups. The knees and hands are still rosy. One doll has two small spots of chipped paint on the back of one foot, a second doll has a tiny paint rub on two finger tips. Otherwise all seem to be as they should. They have also been re-strung. The dolls come in their original hard-to-find wicker Picnic Basket with hinged lid, four metal fasteners and two handles (12 x 15” x 7.5” high when closed). It’s in nice shape with the original pink ruffled pillow inside the basket. The other side has the clothing, but no liner. Just a light water stain on the pillow. Included in the Basket: All 5 tagged organdy dresses and 4 matching organdy bonnets, 3 white organdy petticoats w/panties, 4 cotton pique rompers and all five matching bonnets, all five knit swimsuits (dolls are wearing these in photo), 5 flannel nightgowns (4 are pink, 1 is blue), 9 white oilcloth center-snap shoes, and 2 brass name pins (Cecille & Annette). The organdy dresses & bonnets are in very good to excellent condition. The petticoats/panties are fine, one has a little stain. The rompers & bonnets are in good to very good condition with only minor wear. The knit swimsuits are in good to very good condition. The flannel nightgowns are fine. The shoes do have play wear. Two shoes have a broken snap. The pins are in very good condition. It is rare to find this set in such excellent condition, with no hint of crazing. The clothing is also clean and unfaded. Madame Alexander dolls, the complete set of the five Dionne Alexander composition 7 1/2 baby dolls, circa 1936 Composition dolls. They are molded and have glancing brown eyes with eyelashes, eyebrows, natural looking hair and close bee sting mouths. They are named Emelie, Annette, Marie, Cecile and Yvonne. They have swivel heads and five piece baby bodies. They each have all their fingers and toes with no repairs or repainting. All the clothes are original, some with original tags and shoes and socks too. On the back of their heads are raised letters that say Dionne and Alexander. On their backs in raised letters say Alexander. I have added newer metal name tags so you will know them apart. They come in their original basket with their original pink blanket, very old also. I have enjoyed them for many, many, many years. I think they will make you smile as they are quite cute. They have been stored in my curio as dust and odors are not an issue. I do not smoke. We have a smoke free, pet free home. Here for your consideration is a wonderful composition doll by Madame Alexander. This is the very RARE RED HEAD Nurse for the Dionne Quintuplets. She is full body composition. I measure her at 13 inches tall and that is what the book says, as well. She has the “Betty” face. She is all original and will come to you in her original Box! She has beautiful sleep eyes. She is missing lashes from her left eye. She is all original and in beautiful condition. I do not see a tag, but that is not unusual with dolls of this age. It is very obvious she is in her original outfit. She is also wearing her original shoes and socks. Please note she even still has her Nurse’s Cap! She is in beautiful condition and I see nothing wrong with her. Her face paint, eyebrows, lower lashes and lips are absolutely beautiful. I just realized that there is a tiny hole in the back of her top (I just checked and it is visible in the picture) and the little safety pin that is supposed to fasten the back of her skirt is missing. That is an easy fix. Please view the pictures carefully, as they are part of the description. I could miss something that is important to you. I have a smoke free, pet free home. 7 and a half inch tall Dionne Quintuplets from 1934. All with original clothing, Dr. Dafoe with socks and shoes. Quintuplets have their original gold name pins. The Dionnes were identical quintuplet sisters born in Canada in 1934. All original appendages included. Three of the quintuplets will require internal re-stringing. The Dionne quintuplets (French pronunciation: [dzjn]; born May 28, 1934) are the first quintuplets known to have survived their infancy. The identical sisters were born in Canada, just outside Callander, Ontario, near the village of Corbeil. All five survived to adulthood. The Dionne girls were born two months premature. After four months with their family, they were made Wards of the King for the next nine years under the Dionne Quintuplets’ Guardianship Act, 1935. The government and those around them began to profit by making them a significant tourist attraction in Ontario. The identical quintuplet sisters were, in order of birth. Doctor Allan Roy Dafoe OBE was a Canadian obstetrician, best known for delivering and caring for the Dionne quintuplets, the first quintuplets known to survive early infancy. Dafoe was born in Madoc, Ontario, the son of a physician. He trained in the same profession and, in early 1909, he went into practice in Callander, Ontario, where he resided for the rest of his life. On 28 May 1934 he assisted in the multiple births of the Dionne family, that saw the survival of the mother and all the children. This got international press notice. He continued to help care for the children for years, and became something of a celebrity in the onslaught of media attention. The government of Ontario gave Dr. Dafoe full guardianship of the quintuplets. All the 8 dolls and hard to find wood scooter are in fabulous condition! All have their original tagged outfits, shoes and socks with original metal pins. All the faces, heads and legs are free of crazing and there are no rubs on the painted features, no repaint or repair. I have not taken off the clothes as it looks that they have never been removed so I’m guessing the bodies are just as nice as the faces and legs. They all seem strung just right. Wooden scooter still retains all their decal names, no breaks. The 2 back red wooden wheels have some paint loss, nothing major.
