Madame Alexander Dolls

Up for sale is this 18, Near Mint in Box, Vintage, Madame Alexander Picnic Day doll from the Glamour Girl portrait series. She is wearing her flawlessly tagged, stiff, cotton-candy pink, polished cotton gown, with black lace trim, unbelievably full gathered skirt, and green taffeta sash. There is no fading of the black lace trim or coloring in the gown. Her facial coloring is perfect as well— vibrant blushing, eye shadow, lips, eyebrows, etc. Her hair is in it’s original set in nearly flawless shiny curls. Her bold brown eyes, and very thick, long eyelashes open and close as they should. Her hoop-slip and attached panties are perfect and still rather crisp and white, with still tight elastic. Her original net stockings are as perfect as her shoes with flawlessly fuzzy soles. She wears a straw picture hat with flowers and black netting that ties under her chin (also has an elastic that holds the hat in place) It is in great condition with the exception of one place where it was bent in the box for years and has cracked just a little. Her box is in ok condition, as well, but not minty like the doll. NO odors– from a smoke free and pet free home. This is an amazing doll! This is a 1930s Madame Alexander Wendy Ann doll She’s 13 tall, all composition, with a swivel waist, blonde human hair wig and brown eyes, and all original outfit including purse, hat, socks and shoes She was found inside the vintage MA box but not sure if original, as it’s marked blue and the doll is dressed in pink; the style number on the box is 2200 B The doll has some discoloration and fading to her outfit and crazed eyes, but no major damage like chipped fingers or toes, and no deep cracking, crazing or lifting The doll’s eyes are crazed but she is not missing any eyelashes and her human hair wig is in good condition with original pins and barrettes intact The box is in excellent condition, the doll is tightly strung and poses well and the doll stand is included for display. Here is a near flawless Madame. Alexander hard plastic walker doll. She is in the “Glamour Girl”. Group and she is called. She has a “Maggie” face. She is completely original. She has never been played with. She has all hair. Dress it tagged and she has. He original little round box attached. Her body is super. She has no bad or sour. Her eyes will open and. Close as they should. All her eyelashes are present. Left eylelashes have a couple tiny. Parts in them but they dont. Appear to be missing any lashes. Her dress is in excellent condition. There are no holes or stains. To mention is her dress has a few. Areas where it looks a little. Areas where the pink looks a tiny. Bit darker than other areas. Doll is in excellent condition for. Rare 18 Vintage All Original Madame Alexander Glamour Girl Doll Godey Lady. She is one of 7 gorgeous dolls from the Madame Alexander Glamour Girls series – produced only in 1953. Please reference page 57-58 of book “Treasury of Madame Alexander Dolls” by Jan Foulke, C 1983, Second Edition, Hobby House Press, where the seven dolls in the series are pictured and described: A breath-taking series of seven ladies created by madame Alexander in 1953. All are 18 hard plastic dolls with walking mechanism…. All the costumes are of the Civil War Period Gone-With-theWind type…. Full skirts, tiny waists and hoop skirts. This beautiful 18 Glamour Girl Godey Doll is all original and very hard to find. These were high end dolls when made, and since they were made one year only, all seven are rarely found. She has the Maggie face, clear brown sleep eyes with all lashes intact, and is dressed in full length gown having apricot red taffeta skirt with white bodice and sleeves, over this she wears a gray faux fur stole lined with matching taffeta, ribbon ties. Matching bonnet has wide brim and gathered crown. She has wired crinoline petticoat with deep ruffled hem, ruffled bloomers, white thigh high seamed stockings and black shoes. Dress retains “Madame Alexander” cloth label – retains crisp lettering. She is a walker, head is a little loose, but turns smoothly when legs move. She has nice coloring – bangs are feathered and a little uneven but I believe that’s how she was made. There is no box or wrist tag, and no hat box. Shoes and stockings are in near mint condition. She will be a star addition to any collection of early Madame Alexander fashion ladies……… Or specialized collection of the 7 dolls that made up the Glamour Girl Series. Thank you for looking!
