1948 Madame Alexander Karen Ballerina 15 Doll Lee Sargent Museum Quaility RARE. Measures approx 15 tall. Looks like she was never played with. Make-up hair and outfit are mint! Based on the collector and where and when she bought this doll we believe it is from Lee Sargents collection and we. Think that this was the doll used on the cover of her book! This is a beautiful, Vintage, 18 Madame Alexander, hard plastic, Karen Ballerina in a tagged, very rare variation outfit. Her coloring, eyebrows, lips, blushing etc. Her mohair braids are in decent vintage condition, with some of the under strings showing through (as is often the case), and still adorned with roses. She still has her original black velvet ribbon at her neck and wrists. Her ballet dress still has it’s gold ribbon and flowers and roses attached. Her pink panties are still in fantastic condition as are her pink satin ballet slippers. I believe the tag on her dress hasn’t been washed, but does show some signs of fading in the lettering a bit from being displayed near sunlight by a previous owner. Karen Ballerina’s are somewhat rare and fairly sought after dolls, and this variation (with the pink trim around the neckline on the sleeves and at the waist) is VERY hard to find. She isn’t in mint condition, but is a beautiful example of a VERY rare variation doll. She comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Check out my other listings of minty and/or rare dolls. This doll is in un-handled condition, which is why she is still in mint condition. Gently lifting her net tulle from underneath, I see no major rips or tears, or anything remotely like that. Shiny, pink taffeta bloomers embellished with scalloped, Belgium Val Lace! Super shiny, red, mohair wig with braiding across the crown of her head and coiling at the sides! Her silk ballerina shoes are excellent. Vibrant feathered eyebrows, and lower painted lashes! Thick, upper sable lashes! Vibrant matte, cheek color and dark, Smokey eyes shadow! Also, beautiful palm and knee color. Composition is awesome due to the southern CA dry climate! I dont see any crazing which is very unusual. Please forgive light reflections showing as white spots. This beautiful rare vintage doll is Karen Ballerina, made by The Madame Alexander Doll Company, N. This is a hard plastic doll with a “Maggie” face that stands 14 inches (35.5cm) tall. She is a five-part doll and strung well enough to hold a pose and stand on her own. She is all original. Karen is wearing her original ballet costume in light blue. The bodice of the dress is blue satin, trimmed with metallic gold ricrac. The butterfly sleeves are two layers of gathered tulle, each trimmed with gold ricrac. There is a beautiful blue satin bow at each shoulder. The mid-length full skirt of the ballet costume is three layers of light blue tulle also trimmed with metallic gold ricrac. At her waist is a bouquet of pink velvet flowers, buds and leaf. Karen wears an elegant black velvet ribbon choker tied in a bow. There are black velvet ribbons tied in bows at both wrists. Her gorgeous strawberry blond hair is in perfect condition. It is styled in braids wound’round her head and at coils over her ears. There are four pink and blue cabbage roses adorning her hair, two on either side. Her ruffled light blue silk panties tie at the back with a satin bow. Her pink silk ballet slippers tie with pink satin ribbons wrapped around her ankles and tied with pretty bows in front. The back of the dress fastens with t three square snaps. The original label reads Ballerina, Madame Alexander N. KAREN is a collectors dream come true. She is an exquisite doll with a sweet “Margaret” face expression. She comes with her First Prize blue ribbon. This exquisite doll and costume are in excellent condition with the exception of several miniscule barely visible flaws depicted in pictures 10 and 11.
