Madame Alexander Little Women Set From 1949-50′s. 14 Inch Hard Plastic Dolls. Marme Meg Jo Amy Beth. Madame Alexander “Little Women” set. Five 14 dolls include, Marme, Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth. All 5 doll dresses are in FAIR/POOR condition. All dresses have holes, rips, tears, stains, fading, etc. Jo’s has a lot of holes-please see photos. All dolls socks are in very poor condition- they are stained, mismatched and have lots of holes. Megs hair is stiff. Amy has lazy left eye and gap in bangs. Beths eyes need a little help opening. One of Beths shoes is missing bow. The dolls, pantalets and shoes are in nice condition with the exceptions listed above. Dolls have been restrung with surgical tubing bands. Actually display surprisingly well considering the condition of the dresses. All clothing has been hand washed. All dolls have a slight attic/storage odor. Hard to find early hard plastic 14 Marme by Madame Alexander in tagged original costume complete including lace stole closed with original bar pin. Auburn looped curls pulled back into remnants of hair net/snood, ribbon finish. Full hair type eyelashes on top lid, painted lashes below, eye sockets appear incised. Tagged gold taffeta gown trimmed with black tiny loop braid at hem and sleeves, black velvet bodice. Attached petticoat and matching lace trimmed pantaloons. Rayon socks, original side snap shoes with bows on toes. Gown has some age spots and a 1/2 tear near the bottom which hides well in the folds of the dress (see photos). The sleeves are becoming detached from the bodice but can easily be re-attached. A snood or hair net is still with the doll and is included. The doll stand is not included. This is a vintage doll. I have tried to fully describe the condition of the doll and clothing after thorough examination. Pictures should be considered part of the description. 1951 Madame Alexander Little Women MARMIE with original J. Hudson box, Detroit, Michigan with receipt and price tag. I’ve been told doll was shown in the FAO Schwartz catalog and the Alexander Doll Company Catalog, also told that department stores repackaged items in their own boxes back in the day, hence the J. Hudson box and receipt (see photos). Doll is in excellent condition, face coloring is excellent, looks like it has never been out of the box, with the exception of one of the black bows on one of her shoes is missing. Doll has original gold wristband that says, FASHION ACADEMY AWARD on one side and FASHION ACADEMY AWARD, MME. Vintage complete set of Madame Alexander Little Women 12 dolls, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy with Marme and Laurie. Dolls are new and still in the original packaging. Boxes show wear from storage. This is a beautiful set! Amy in yellow with white polka dots. Laurie in blue, double-breasted jacket, houndstooth pants and a blue cap. Meg is in a purple and white plaid dress with white pinafore. Beth is in pink frock with white pinafore. Jo in a red frock with white pinafore. Marme in a burgundy dress with lace on the bodice and a matching bonnet. They have only been out of their boxes to check on them and then to photograph them. True colors and hairdos, fabrics, petticoats, bloomers, shoes and boots still like new. Gorgeous vintage 14 Marme doll. Eyes open and close as they should. She is super clean. No bad or sour smells. She has a small area on the right side of her head where you can see her scalp. I dont think this is a bald spot. I think the scalp is visible because if the way her hair is styled. So I believe all hair is present. I think her hair in the back should be covering the spot but its not. You can see that the hair is pulled back a little further on that side in the photos.
