Vintage 1938 Madame Alexander Composition MISS AMERICA DOLL. 14 doll has blonde mohair wig and green eyes that close when she is laid down. Her outfit consists of a. Red and white striped dress and a blue felt hat. She is wearing a petticoat underneath her dress as well as underwear. Red shoes finish the outfit. She is missing her socks and a red flag that is placed in her right hand. All-composition with a socket head and jointing at shoulders and hips. Her condition is vintage good– composition is intact and in good shape. Her petticoat has a rip in the lace, and her left shoe has some wear on the sole. All Original 1939 New York World’s Fair 14 tall Miss America from Madame Alexander. She has the Betty face, which was very popular at the time. She is complete with her hat, original flag which is so fragile and her World Fair 1939 red, white and blue metal tag. She is dressed in her red and white stripped dress which has not faded in the least and her navy blue belt completes the dress. Under the dress is her nylon slip trimmed in lace. Her auburn mohair wig is in its original curled set with the barretts on either side of her head. This is one the rarest all original dolls in my collection. I have kept her all my life as I was born in this year and was given her as a gift by my grandmother. We are a non smoking home. She will make a special. Addition to any doll collection. Her body is clean without stains, cracks, splits. This doll is a BEND Knee, However, It is not walker! As you can see in the Madame Alexander’s catalogue. However, the catalogue shows her skirt as being bluish, yet her hangtag (attached to her wrist) shows it white. If you compare her hard plastic jointed legs with the 1955 BINNIE doll, I also have listed, you will see they both have the same SLENDER JOINTED HARD PLASTIC LEGS with ORIGINAL PINK KNEES, and BEAUTIFULLY SCULPTED DAINTY “LIFE-LIKE” KNEES! It is my conclusion that this BEAUTIFUL ACTIVE MISS DOLL WITH CISSY FACE was a “TRANSITION CISSY DOLL”—A “MARKET TEST” DOLL—to try out the JOINTED VINYL ARMS on a CISSY FACE 18″ DOLL to confirm the investment being made to manufacture the 20″ CISSY DOLL IN 1955 with the same jointed vinyl arms, but with jointed hard plastic high heel feet. This Active Miss Doll is not an easy doll to find in reference books because SHE IS SO RARE. In 2009 & 2010, her book value was 850. This was one of the very first dolls I ever “adopted”—SHE SET THE BAR HIGH FOR MY VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL COLLECTION. Up for sale is this amazing near mint 18 Vintage Madame Alexander Active Miss (same body as Sweet Violet). The active miss and sweet violet dolls have different bodies than the other Madame Alexander dolls. They are jointed at the wrists, elbows and knees, and all of her joints work well. Their eyes are a lovely deeper blue than other Madame Alexander dolls. This active miss is in extraordinary condition. She is wearing her crisply tagged party dress of pink organdy, white lace trim, and pink satin ribbon sash. She has a perfect lace trimmed slip with matching panties, also trimmed in lace and adorned with little pink bows. Her white socks and black patent leather side snap shoes are flawless as well. Her pink bonnet is trimmed with lace, ribbon and stunning original flowers. There are a few tiny spots of discoloration from age. As for the doll herself, she is breathtaking. Her eyes are that deep blue, eyelashes thick and long. Her original eye-shadow, brows, blushing and lips are all stunning. Her hair is in nearly perfect original curls.
