Madame Alexander Dolls

This set of Madame Alexander Dionne Quintuplets are from the 1930s. All are composition with swivel head, jointed hips and shoulders. They have bent limb legs, molded hair, painted eyes and are 7in long. They are in there original outfits with socks and shoes and all 5 original name tag pins. As you can see from the pictures the dolls are in good condition but 2 of the dolls have a small crack on the side of there head. Three shoes, 3 socks are missing and 1 shoes strap is broken. Two of the outfits have falling apart with time (see last photo) but the. Other 3 outfits are faded but in good condition. Dafoe And The Nurse (Who Took Care Of The Dionne Quintuplets). The dolls have very nice composition with some light crazing. Dafoe has painted eyes and the nurse has working eyes, not crackled. The height of the doctor is 14″ and the nurse is 13″. The doctor and the nurse dolls are not marked and their clothes are not marked. The blush color is on the knees, elbows, and top of their hands. The shoes, socks, and nurses hat (all original) were not taken off by me. The nurse has a one piece outfit with skirt, and the doctor has a one piece with a top. The dolls have stringing that has stretched over the years. She told me when she was 4 years old. She was sick with scarlet fever. She received the dolls and was not allowed to play with them. Small crack on inside upper arm. Small paint rub on back of left leg and left rear. Nose of glasses looks bent but, I believe that was the way they were made. Slight crazing on face. Light stains on hat. Small black spots on back of skirt. Tiny stain on front of skirt. Light stain on back collar and left sleeve. Right eye lid has missing paint. They come from a smoke free home. RARE Composition Madame Alexander Dr. Dafoe and Nurse Yvonne Leroux. Dafoe doll is 14 and represents the famed doctor of the Dionne Quintuplets. He was made by Madame Alexander in 1935 and unmarked, although his uniform is tagged. Nurse Leroux is 13 and also unmarked. Each have swivel heads, and jointed arms/legs with painted eyes (except Nurse with sleep eyes). The doctor has grey mohair wig and highly characterize smiling kindly expression. The nurse has a sweet disposition and blond wig. Condition of each is good to very good for age. Some usual wear with composition dolls, outfits a bit yellowed, socks may be original on each but shoes look to have been replaced. Some minor crazing or nicks may be in some places, joints a little floppy or loose on each, but poseable. The stand is included with the Nurse. This is an ANTIQUE 1930S COMPOSITION MADAME ALEXANDER DIONNE QUINTUPLETS DOLLS, ORIGINAL CLOTHES, TAGS. This was a wonderful find! They are composition dolls with their original clothes, leather shoes, bonnets & name tags. 3 of the dolls have their bonnets. Each doll has her original dress, leather shoes, slip and bloomers. 4 of the dolls have their original name tags. The dolls are marked Alexander on their backs and each of the dresses retain the original Genuine Dionne Quintuplet Dolls – Madame Alexander cloth tag. One doll still has the original store price tag as well. The joints are somewhat loose, particularly the heads. The arms & legs are a little tighter. The dolls have some crazing from age. One doll’s bloomers have some tears & holes but the rest of the dolls clothes are in great shape and intact. The dolls have some expected age wear but are in VERY NICE condition for their age! Each comes with its own doll stand. The dolls measure 7-1/2 tall. These are FANTASTIC EARLY ANTIQUE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL COLLECTIBLES! Many items have been in storage and may be a little dusty or need a light cleaning. Please expect wear consistent with age and use. They were given to her as a gift, when she was 13 years old, in the 1930′s. She felt she was much too old to play with dolls, and they were put away in the attic; so, they are completely original, and have only been removed for cleaning. They have been stored all this time and have suffered a little age related wear, to the clothing and basket; but, still in pretty good condition. Everything is as follows. 8 Composition Dolls- Have been lightly cleaned. The composition is in amazing condition, for the age, and having been stored for so long. Dolls still have their original face paint and blushed cheeks, elbows, and knees. There is very minimal paint loss, to the painted hair, from storage. The dolls have very little crazing. The original stringing is stretched and they will need to be re-strung. Original Wicker Basket-The basket does show storage wear, the wicker is very dry. I have put the handles back on with cotton string and never recommend picking it by those handles. Brass & Leather closures still work. Basket Interior-The pink satin pillows, w/ lace trim, are still intact, on the bottom and inside top. Clothing-I carefully hand-washed all pieces. A couple of the Romper sets will need repair to the organza collars and satin ribbon ties replaced, on the bonnets. The Party Dresses are in good condition, with just a little staining; but, I was afraid to get too aggressive, in my washing. Also, the matching Bonnets will need the satin ribbon ties replaced also, if desired. Their oil cloth shoes are largely in good condition and only 3 need repair, where the snap pulled away from the straps. All nylon socks are in good condition. Dolls & Clothing are marked “Alexander” and the original hang-tag, is still present. They are a lovely find and a bonus to any collection. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
