Madame Alexander Dolls

A truly beautiful tagged dress from 1955. It looks much prettier in real life than my pictures show. Sometimes called the “Dorothy” dress by collectors. Comes with original black velvet belt and bows on shoulders. This example is in the harder to find darker blue. Organdy sleeves of dress have just begun to pull away from shoulder in small spots. This is not noticeable unless one looks for it and dress makes a beautiful display. I bought this dress in a lot of clothing so I do not know if it has been washed. It is very slightly wrinkled; it had been stored for many years. Shown on page 56 of Shaw’s Cissy Files book. This doll can be seen on p. 28 of Smith’s “The World of Alexander-kins” although it is shown with a different hat. This beautiful doll is a strung, non-walker. She has no cracks, stains, or seam separations in her hard plastic. Her all original facial coloring is spectacular! She has clear eyes and beautifully blushed cheeks. One eyebrow is light but I don’t think it detracts in any way. To me her coloring is just fantastic and she is even prettier in person. She has a very pretty triple stitch wig in original set and is a beautiful red color. The outfit itself is just beautiful. It consists of the dress, hat, slip, panties, socks, and absolutely perfect white top stitch fuzzy bottom shoes. The dress is a lovely shade of light blue. The organdy has held up nicely and still looks very good. The white net arms are still very white and the elastic is still nice and tight. There are no holes or stains in the dress. Under the dress is an beautiful perfect pink taffeta slip with a perfect pair of matching pink pantaloons. The slip has nice tight stretch and the pink color is still so pink. The pantaloons are equally as nice and the color is fantastic on them as well. The matching hat is very pretty and the white straw and flowers are in terrific shape. Lastly she has on a perfect white pair of top stitch shoes. These shoes show no wear, are still very white and are just outstanding. All together she is one special Alexander-kin! This doll is truly precious with a darling pink coat, pants and matching hat! Under the coat there is a light pink dress and underclothes (see photos). All clothing appears to be original. The coat has an original Madame Alexander tag on the inside. Also, “Alexander” in raised letters appears on the back of the neck. The overall condition of this 80+ year old doll is very good. The “sleepy” eyes have some typical damage, but they are still pretty. We do not know if the eyes are original. The face has only slightly visible crazing or cracking near the hairline and the molded head looks like new! The doll also includes adorable little moccasins and socks. Since I acquired this doll I never removed the shoes or socks. The doll wears an “Yvonne” pin on her coat – I do not know if this is original. The coat has just a few tiny moth holes (see photos). All in all this doll would be a treasured addition to any vintage doll collection!! Marked Alexander on back of neck. Walker type doll with jointed legs and jointed arms that are like vinyl or rubber. Beautiful face, eyes open and close. Doll has a ring on as you can see in pic. Do not know if outfit is original – no tags. Also has panties, slip, and stockings that look like they may be original. Stockings have a hole on the bottom of each foot. Net on hat ripped and hat attached by old hat pin. Beautiful doll in nice shape, I did not try to clean, I will leave that to you. Add to your collection!
