Madame Alexander Dolls

This is a vintage red brocade, 3/4 length gown with matching wrap and white flower at the waist. The wrap is sewn on at waist with a visible square snap and the flower is attached with a brass safety pin. 3 snap closure on the back. On the front left side of this dress, there is some light color/sun fade in the folds, shown in the images. The white lining has several stains, also shown in the images. Over all this dress is in good condition. There are no holes or tears. According to The Cissy Files book, this gown is listed as Hard to Find and from 1956. She’s wearing a gorgeous Lemon Tulle dress that is wrapped at the waist to create an attached sash. It is accented with a garland swag of pink and white flowers at the waist and at the neck. She is wearing the original velvet ribbon in her hair which is in an updo with separate bangs. Cissy has pierced ears, a rhinestone bracelet and a ring. Everything that is on the doll is original, not replaced. The doll has no cracks, splits, or stains, not even at the knees or at the hip. She has simply gorgeous coloring with sparkling blue eyes and all her eyelashes. The hair is in original set and its lovely. The bow is just perfect and completes the hairstyle excellently. The dress was hard to photograph and it is actually a more vibrant yellow in person. The dress is just stunning and it sits out so nice and full. The flowers are excellent and show very little age. On the right side in back of the flowers are two areas of damage to the tulle. I believe that it is possible the wire of the flowers caught in the tulle when it was being stored which caused the tears. I’ve photographed this for you to see. Luckily, these areas do tuck into the dress nicely since the tulle is so full. Unless you pull the tulle out and look for it, the tears will never be seen when displaying this lovely doll. I’ve also shown a close-up of how this looks folded in which is the next to the last photo shown. As stated above the yellow color is prettier in person. In the folds the color is a little brighter in some places but it is not overly. And does not detract from the beauty of the dress. Under the dress Cissy wears the correct yellow bloomers and slip. The elastic did relax with age so I have pinned the slip in the back and now it stays up perfectly. The bloomers stay up just fine with out the need for pinning. The hose are in great shape and Cissy comes with beautiful gold heels. The heels are in really good condition with just the slightest relaxation to the elastic. Lastly Cissy’s wears beautiful all original rhinestone jewelry. The earrings have a beautiful shine and are just so fancy! The ring is in excellent condition as is the bracelet and both have nice shiny rhinestones that have not dulled. All together this is such a stunning doll that will stand out in your collection.
