Of the more rare Me & My Shadow series, Agatha is one of, if not the very most rare and hard to find doll in that series. She has a very ornate outfit. She wears a pink, tagged, taffeta gown with purple and yellow eyeloop trim, blue velvet forget-me-nots, gathers, flares etc. It is fitted from the bodice to the hips, with gathers accentuating her hips, and very full gathered skirt. In the back there is bow-like bustle, with wings that extend beneath and a LONG decorated train. The sleeves have ruffled tulle on the underside. The tulle is a little brittle with a section partially broken off on her left arm. Her bonnet is in lovely condition, with no breaks in the straw. It has a lovely pink moire ribbon weaving across the top with bows and tying in a bow under her chin. It has lovely blue and cream velvet forget-me-nots, and a couple perfect cabbage roses as well. She wears a very detailed light cream, taffeta under-slip, with ruffled tulle and trimmed edges. Her taffeta pantaloons with pink bows are in fantastic shape as well. Her original light cream stockings are still fitted to her legs and her purple velvet snap shoes are lovely as well. She has a pink taffeta “parasol”, and pink madame Alexander hat box. She has beautiful dark brown hair in smooth hairdo with curled under ends pinned sleekly in the back. She does have some vintage glue residue at the top of her forehead just past the edge of the wig. It can best be seen the photo of her laying down. Ive heard it can be removed, but I will let the new owner decide if they want to do something about it. She has blue eyes, bright pink lips, and two stroke brows. She has the lovely classic Cissy face so many love. Overall she is a Lovely sample of a VERY rare and hard to find doll. She comes from a smoke and pet free home, with no odors. Up for sale is the 21 Dazzling, RARE vintage Madame Alexander Kathryn Grayson of the 1951 Fashion Academy Mystery Portrait series. The Mystery Portrait series were all exceptional dolls—only a small amount of each doll was made. She has elaborate “make-up” and facial paint — around the eyes, lashes (top eyeliner, bottom lashes and side dramatic lashes), lovely blushing and rosy full lips, blue eyes, full, long, thick eyelashes. Her hair is a rare shade of red, in lovely original set. Her hair is adorned from ear, around the back, to the other ear with lovely flowers, leaves etc. Some with prong-set rhinestones. Her crisply tagged gown is truly outstanding! The entire bodice of the gown is tulle netting, unique floral lace covered in still rather SPARKLY prong-set rhinestones. There are a few little white dots on the tulle near the top of the lace bodice, which appears to be perhaps a small repair to the netting there. It is small, and not very noticeable. The outer layer of tulle is crisp and in excellent condition. It has a under layer of very fine, silky tulle, which has a few ragged edges and holes near the hem, but is hidden under the top layers of the skirt. Lastly her inner-most layer of her skirt is creamy satin, as are her panties, both are in fantastic condition as well. She has a black lace bracelet with prong-set rhinestones, pearl tear-drop earrings, and lovely lace and retecule/ handbag covered in light cream lace that matches the bodice of the dress. The lace on the bodice and handbag are both still rather light cream/ haven’t darkened much with age. She wears stockings, and flat satin snapping shoes in nice condition (both shoes have soles, but one is missing a heel). Comes from a smoke and pet home, and is without odors. Overall, she is in fantastic condition, with complete outfit and accessories, original, and a beautiful rare piece of history! She definitely keeps Madame Alexander’s legacy of excellence burning bright! I try to list everything I think of, but may have missed something important to you! Up for sale is this 18, Near Mint in Box, Vintage, Madame Alexander Picnic Day doll from the Glamour Girl portrait series. She is wearing her flawlessly tagged, stiff, cotton-candy pink, polished cotton gown, with black lace trim, unbelievably full gathered skirt, and green taffeta sash. There is no fading of the black lace trim or coloring in the gown. Her facial coloring is perfect as well— vibrant blushing, eye shadow, lips, eyebrows, etc. Her hair is in it’s original set in nearly flawless shiny curls. Her bold brown eyes, and very thick, long eyelashes open and close as they should. Her hoop-slip and attached panties are perfect and still rather crisp and white, with still tight elastic. Her original net stockings are as perfect as her shoes with flawlessly fuzzy soles. She wears a straw picture hat with flowers and black netting that ties under her chin (also has an elastic that holds the hat in place) It is in great condition with the exception of one place where it was bent in the box for years and has cracked just a little. Her box is in ok condition, as well, but not minty like the doll. NO odors– from a smoke free and pet free home. This is an amazing doll! She has a lovely peaches and cream complexion with original high color blushed cheeks, soft eye-shadow, three stroke arched brows, lashes etc. Her eyes are bright sapphire blue, her lashes are thick, full and long. Her auburn-red hair is pulled back in a lovely (I think original) set, with purple velvet bow at the top of her head, and hair pinned into a cluster of shiny, soft curls at the nape of her neck. Her crisply tagged gown has a VERY full gathered skirt with a couple layers of pink-lavender tulle and organdy underskirt. The MOST STUNNING thing about this Cissy, is the LONG cascading bouquet of PERFECT pink cabbage roses, nestled in off white velvet forget-me-nots, and matching flowers at her shoulders. She also has a taffeta petticoat (elastic waist still tight), and panties (elastic waist still tight), stockings (one stocking has a hole in the inner thy area), and pink heels. She also has pink finger-less gloves, and amethyst ring. She comes from a smoke and pet-free home, with no odors. The body has red stain on breast. See pics, I tried to clean it off. It was the best I can do…. The body is not loose but it is not tight either.. I think these bodies become loose after playing with them. Her wig is not glued on. I added 2 wigs, blonde and red head. No smells, non smoking home. I consider myself a lucky person to have owned such a rare & stunning example of Madame Alexander’s dolls. This beauty, one of the original painted Cissys manufactured by Madame Alexander in one year ONLY 1955, was nicknamed the “Waltz Doll, ” perhaps because when looking at her it’s easy to imagine her twirling around the dance floor, this luxurious blue satin gown flowing around & behind her. What a beautiful vision! Cissy’s tagged blue slipper satin gown is in very good condition for its age. The are no holes, rips or tears. Absolutely gorgeous but not mint; there is some faint staining & scuffing here & there, although you can see from her photographs how beautifully it displays. I mention these things because they can be seen with spotlighting, but on normal display these imperfections seem to melt away with the folds & beauty of the satin. It’s not perfect, but breathtaking none-the-less. The beautiful front decorative braiding is studded with both clear & blue rhinestones (all are present) and metallic silver thread. Closure is at the back with five square snaps. Underneath Cissy wears the original taffeta panties and original slip elastic at the waist has relaxed on both, and was re-tightened with elastic thread; there is some light age spotting. The slip has an extra-wide bottom flounce trimmed with the blue satin which matches the gown. Cissy has vintage hosiery and her original silver strappy sandals. This Cissy didn’t have pierced ears, but has small half rhinestones on each lobe. She wears her vintage “diamond” ring, and a silver & rhinestone bracelet made in the likeness of the original. Both her spectacular vintage floral bandeau & white feather fan with pewter fleur-de-lis were reconstructed with complete respect to the original design. I’m perhaps prejudiced, but I do believe this is one of the most beautiful Cissys Madame Alexander created. She is completely original and has only been re-matted to protect her gorgeous color & features. Several items given this doll were never again used on any other Cissy – the most prominent being her stunning thick light brown wig, with both longer bangs & longer curls tied at the back.
