A Very Special Christmas Doll. Last year I introduced you to my “Cissy” doll in a memoir of when I grew up in the 1950′s. The story was written at the request of a lovely young lady who I hoped would be the recipient of “Grace” the name I gave my Cissy doll when I was ten. Hence last year I wrote that I was reticent to sell her and put a steep price for her. Well, my young friend (during the brief weeks I advertised “Grace” and told her wondrous history) decided that her real love was technology – specifically – the study of drones and their many potentially useful applications – a very smart 10 year old – but all her interest in dolls had vanished. My wish is for this lovely doll to go to one who would truly like and enjoy her. One who like me – so many years ago – delighted in the almost magical and joyful qualities she offered. NUMBER OF ITEMS OFFERED? GENERAL COMMENTS: This is a Composition Madame Alexander 14 W. She is complete with only one clothing exception, her hat insignia is not with her. She has light crazing on her face and her hair set could use a bit of re-sprucing one piece has fallen but is still intact. But overall a really nice composition doll with lovely color. A hard to find doll, which often is missing her hat, her bag is no longer with her. Fingers and legs look great, will eventually need restringing but not overly wobbly at this time. MADAME ALEXANDER Jane Withers doll. Jane is a little harder to find, but very easy to identify as she is a very specific celebrity doll with a head mold only utilized for her.. Child actress contemporary to Shirley Temple. She has been restored by a competent restorationist. What that means: The doll is not my work and has been restored by someone else. Restorers all use their own favorite methods for repair and have very individual styles of paint work. The facial features on this doll are expertly painted. Jane has green sleep eyes, and wears her original wig. She wears a darling reproduction doll jumper, blouse, hat & onsie that was created by the restorers Mother. She has real leather shoes.
