Madame Alexander Dolls

From a recent estate sale here in the Dallas area, here’s a very cute Sweet Violet doll by Madame Alexander. The doll has blonde hair and sleep eyes. She is wearing five pieces of clothing which include 1 a lavender coat, 2 the hard to find white dress with purple details, 3 under pants, 4 hat with flowers and 5 a pair of shoes and socks. She does not have her muff. The lavender coat is tagged in the back as shown in the pictures. The bonnet is purple velvet and has its original flowers and pink ribbon tie. The dress is in excellent shape has some light age stains at the top of the dress which I think will clean up, but I have not tried to clean the dress in fear of damaging it. The dress is not tagged. The purple shoes have their front flowers. The face is similar to Cissy and Binnie Walker. Her hair is in lightly played with condition and her eyelashes are in excellent shape. The coat and dress have their original buttons. The doll measures about 18 inches tall. The doll itself is in played with condition with one split one the left wrist, one slit at one the right elbow and chipping on the back of the upper legs. The purple coat has a few snags to the fabric on the back left side which are visible in the picture. There is also a tiny mark on her nose. She works as expected. Her coat is tagged. This stunning vintage tagged Alexander Cissy dress is the very rare lavender model of the dress pictured in Kiley Shaws wonderful Cissy book, on page 60. This dress has very pale polka dots which do show up more pronounced in my picture than they do on the actual dress. The lavender is very soft, when I put it next to a pink dress you can see its evenly pale lavender all over. When I put it next to Elise little purple hat, you can still see its pale lavender. You can see in my picture of the slip that the dress is a lavender next to the quite pink slip, so I do not believe this dress to be a pink faded, I believe this dress to be what I have presented it as. You will need to make up your own mind on that of course. It ties in back with a wide soft bow of the same material, and does up in back with 4 square snaps. No rips, holes or tears in this dress, and I have not washed it. Im fairly certain it would have been gently laundered at some stage in. Its 65 year life, its hard to tell because the tag colour still looks clean and clearly read. Sleeve elastic still holds firm, Im not sure if this has been replaced at some stage, if so its been very well done. At some stage, the petticoat has had extra elastic cord added to tighten a loose waist line. And ask questions if I have left out something important to you. This is really a gorgeous Cissy doll. She has wonderful original face color and lashes and even her eyeshadow. Pretty blonde hair and she has a replaced hair bar. Aside from the leg cracks her body is excellent and her knees maintain the blush. One of the wig sides could use a little glue. Her lavender organdy dress, slip and panties are very crisp. DRESS HAS CRISP TAG as well. She wears vintage hose and newer heels. Thank you and have a nice summer! Vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll in lavender tagged dress, panties, and stockings. Doll has no breaks she is soft vinyl and hard plastic. Marked on back of head “Alexander”. Her right eye lashes are partially missing. There are some black marks on her neck at seam with her head. Dress is not torn or stained, it needs pressing for wrinkles, missing small flower at neckline. Dress is 2 pieces dress & shrug. Included are her stockings which are good no holes or runs, and her panties which are also in good condition with no rips , elastic seems to have loosened I don’t know if they are the original ones. Gorgeous, rare Elise doll by Madame Alexander, from the 1950s-60s. She needs restringing but is in excellent condition as you can see. All original makeup, nice blush cheeks with a flawless porcelain complexion color… And beautiful red lips. Pierced Ears with Original Rhinestone drop earrings. Lavender Afternoon gown has original tags inside. Silk Taffeta Pleated Gown (dress) has the Bolero jacket, nylon petticoat and tulle underskirt, panties, and thigh high back seamed stockings, with lavender purple high-heeled sling pumps The lavender straw hat is decorated w/ Veil with Floral trim. She still has Original Purple Rhinestone Ring, a Pearl Bracelet. Her Pearl Necklace is flaking & peeling from age? (as are most of the ones you see) ============= I cannot see any cracks or breaks in her body. Her head tilts slightly back (it may need to be adjusted in a mild restoration) Her skull cap is not glued to her head anymore, it looks like it may have been previously. She has been displayed on a stand, (stand included) so she may need a little light clean up… Her dress does have some light spots on close inspection.. Barely noticeable from a distance. Flowers in trim show wear from age and veil is pulled loose in spots in close inspection….
