Madame Alexander Dolls

Up for sale is this 18, Near Mint in Box, Vintage, Madame Alexander Picnic Day doll from the Glamour Girl portrait series. She is wearing her flawlessly tagged, stiff, cotton-candy pink, polished cotton gown, with black lace trim, unbelievably full gathered skirt, and green taffeta sash. There is no fading of the black lace trim or coloring in the gown. Her facial coloring is perfect as well— vibrant blushing, eye shadow, lips, eyebrows, etc. Her hair is in it’s original set in nearly flawless shiny curls. Her bold brown eyes, and very thick, long eyelashes open and close as they should. Her hoop-slip and attached panties are perfect and still rather crisp and white, with still tight elastic. Her original net stockings are as perfect as her shoes with flawlessly fuzzy soles. She wears a straw picture hat with flowers and black netting that ties under her chin (also has an elastic that holds the hat in place) It is in great condition with the exception of one place where it was bent in the box for years and has cracked just a little. Her box is in ok condition, as well, but not minty like the doll. NO odors– from a smoke free and pet free home. This is an amazing doll! This is outfit #376 of 1953 and one of the first 8 Wendys. She can be seen in Pat Smith’s World of Alexander-kins on Page 14. This Wendy is a SL- straight leg non walker. Her back is marked Alex. It is hard to believe she is 63 years old, and she is so precious. She is a blonde and her wig is triple-stitched. Her facial color is very nice and her sleep eyes work well. Wendy is wearing white organdy pantaloons, a half slip with lace at the bottom hem, white socks and white side-snap shoes. Her pink and white check cotton dress has small white rick-rack trim and it is very full. It has whit satin ribbon straps over the shoulders. She is wearing a white cotton pique jacket which has a flared peplum, cotton lace trim, and ties in front with white satin ribbon. There is a slight stain on the left side of the skirt which may come out. It hasn’t been laundered. I have shown it in the pictures. It isn’t too noticeable because of the fullness of the skirt. The hat is not original, but it is cuter than the original – at least I think so. It has a chin strap. I have included a picture of the original. Other than the stain on the skirt, I see nothing wrong – no rips, tears, holes, etc. She is in an Alexander box but it is not her original. Smoke and pet-free home.
