I do not smoke. We have a smoke free, pet free home. Here for your consideration is a wonderful composition doll by Madame Alexander. This is the very RARE RED HEAD Nurse for the Dionne Quintuplets. She is full body composition. I measure her at 13 inches tall and that is what the book says, as well. She has the “Betty” face. She is all original and will come to you in her original Box! She has beautiful sleep eyes. She is missing lashes from her left eye. She is all original and in beautiful condition. I do not see a tag, but that is not unusual with dolls of this age. It is very obvious she is in her original outfit. She is also wearing her original shoes and socks. Please note she even still has her Nurse’s Cap! She is in beautiful condition and I see nothing wrong with her. Her face paint, eyebrows, lower lashes and lips are absolutely beautiful. I just realized that there is a tiny hole in the back of her top (I just checked and it is visible in the picture) and the little safety pin that is supposed to fasten the back of her skirt is missing. That is an easy fix. Please view the pictures carefully, as they are part of the description. I could miss something that is important to you. I have a smoke free, pet free home. 7 and a half inch tall Dionne Quintuplets from 1934. All with original clothing, Dr. Dafoe with socks and shoes. Quintuplets have their original gold name pins. The Dionnes were identical quintuplet sisters born in Canada in 1934. All original appendages included. Three of the quintuplets will require internal re-stringing. The Dionne quintuplets (French pronunciation: [dzjn]; born May 28, 1934) are the first quintuplets known to have survived their infancy. The identical sisters were born in Canada, just outside Callander, Ontario, near the village of Corbeil. All five survived to adulthood. The Dionne girls were born two months premature. After four months with their family, they were made Wards of the King for the next nine years under the Dionne Quintuplets’ Guardianship Act, 1935. The government and those around them began to profit by making them a significant tourist attraction in Ontario. The identical quintuplet sisters were, in order of birth. Yvonne Édouilda Marie Dionne. Annette Lillianne Marie Allard. Cécile Marie Émilda Langlois. Émilie Marie Jeanne Dionne. Marie Reine Alma Houle. Doctor Allan Roy Dafoe OBE was a Canadian obstetrician, best known for delivering and caring for the Dionne quintuplets, the first quintuplets known to survive early infancy. Dafoe was born in Madoc, Ontario, the son of a physician. He trained in the same profession and, in early 1909, he went into practice in Callander, Ontario, where he resided for the rest of his life. On 28 May 1934 he assisted in the multiple births of the Dionne family, that saw the survival of the mother and all the children. This got international press notice. He continued to help care for the children for years, and became something of a celebrity in the onslaught of media attention. The government of Ontario gave Dr. Dafoe full guardianship of the quintuplets. All the 8 dolls and hard to find wood scooter are in fabulous condition! All have their original tagged outfits, shoes and socks with original metal pins. All the faces, heads and legs are free of crazing and there are no rubs on the painted features, no repaint or repair. I have not taken off the clothes as it looks that they have never been removed so I’m guessing the bodies are just as nice as the faces and legs. They all seem strung just right. Wooden scooter still retains all their decal names, no breaks. The 2 back red wooden wheels have some paint loss, nothing major. Wonderful set of Dionne Quintuplets dating from the 1930s when the girls were at their most famous and the whole world was fascinated. The perfect set to grace any doll collection. I have been told that the maker was Madame Alexander however I cannot see any markings to this effect. They are however very rare and precious. Condition – All of the girls have suffered from crazing to their composition which you would expect given their age. They all have little painted faces and their legs cross over like little newborns. They have all had little outfits handmade for them and have been lovingly looked after by their little owner. The babies are in a wicker basket with little cots fashioned for each of them with tiny quilts and pillows. At the bottom of their cribs there is a section for their clothes and accessories. There are various little belongs in each of these sections. At the bottom of their cribs is homemade name tags for each baby which have been pinned in place. Yvonne, Annette, Marie, Cecille and Emille. Their basket has been well preserved along with the contents but condition is consistent with the age of this rare piece. They are extra charming as you can tell that they were very much loved and their little owner must have had the most amazing fun with them. I travel all over on my quest, my trouble is I find it hard to part with most of my finds, having said that needs must and all that so keep checking in for my latest delights. Set of Madame Alexander Dionne quintuplets complete with nurse and furniture. Identifying mark – raised lettering that reads: Alexander. Complete with painted white furniture. Crib, playpen, highchair, low potty-chair, and a scooter. 13 Composition nurse with no identifying to labels or marking. Has very sparse light blonde human hair wig, glued to head. Head has very light crazing and has three relatively large cracks and one small crack around eyeholes. Green sleep eyes (tin), with one eye opening with sparse lash, the other good. Body in relatively good condition with some crazing, thumb paint chipped and feet with damaged toe areas. Appears to be wearing cotton nurse outfit and hat. (#1) Quintuplet – Composition bent limb baby, with molded painted hair. One eye has paint loss and head has very light crazing overall. Body is good but needs restrung. Wearing original cotton taffeta short dress, bib that reads embroidered in pink Emelie. Complete with slip and original diaper, missing bonnet. (#2) Quintuplet – body in good condition, except face has major crack through center. Wearing original dress, slip, diaper, booties, and bonnet. (#3) Quintuplet- in overall good condition except right arm, shoulder has small crack through paint. Wearing original bonnet, dress (no slip), diaper, booties, bonnet, and bib embroidered Annette. (#4) Quintuplet – Composition in good condition except for toe rub. Wearing original dress, slip, diaper, bonnet, booties, and embroidered bib with Cecilia. (#5) Quintuplet – Composition bent limb baby in relatively good condition, except for small crack under nose and two cracks extending through center of lips. Also, cheek area with paint loss.
