Up for sale is this GORGEOUS and Rare 18 Mary Louise from Madame Alexander’s Me and My Shadow series from 1954, with rare yellow gloves. She is A very rare and hard to find doll. I have been told much, much more rare is finding her with her Yellow striped gloves! She is a beautiful doll, with a Cissy face, and amazing golden yellow braids that are pinned up with shiny perfect curls at each cheek. Her eyes are a lovely blue, she has full eyelashes, lovely eye shadow, two stroke brows and pink lips. Her blush is pretty too, though she does have a “rub” on her left cheek. She is wearing a full-skirted burnt orange taffeta dress with crisp tag, black trim at neckline, bust and at her wrists. Her original olive green wool jacket and hat with cream trim, rickrack and adorned with a few tiny metal flowers at the small of her back and on the top of her head, are in excellent condition as well. No moth holes that I can see. Her hat is kept on her head by a lovely mustard yellow velvet ribbon which wraps around her braids and over her head. Her yellow gloves with black stripes match the yellow ribbon nicely and are in excellent condition as well. Her light cream taffeta underskirt/hoop-slip is still crisp, as are her pantaloons. Her black velvet shoes are in excellent condition with fuzzy soles. She also has her black and gold hatbox in lovely condition. She comes from a smoke and pet free home. Here is a vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll from 1958. She is very elegant, in mint condition and all original. This is a high-end very rare doll and one of the most sought after among vintage Cissy collectors who refer to her as Evergreen Cissy. The doll has never been touched. Cissys hair is rich and lustrous. The lovely burnished auburn wig is in its original formal set pulled up and back at the sides and falling into turned-under curls at the nape of the neck. Her face paint is lovely and totally original with no touch-ups and no repainting of any kind. Her eyes are crystal clear blue. I have many Cissy dolls that have had their blushing and hair re-done. They are lovely and I enjoy them, but having an all original doll that looks like it just came from the Alexander factory is a joy. It is difficult to believe that she is so mint and so pristine. Of special note, this doll is featured in Kiley Shaws book, The Cissy Files, on page 43. Cissys gown is spectacular, tagged and very rare. The bodice is constructed of dark green netting over an ivory organdy lining. Evergreen netting is gathered at the neckline to frame the dolls face beautifully. The neckline is further accented by ivory cabbage roses. The gowns skirt is constructed of gathered layers of evergreen netting over an ivory organdy under-skirt. This skirt is very full, keeping with the high standards that Madame Alexander used in those days to costume her elegant dolls. Yards of fabric were used to ensure fullness and a beautiful drape to the clothing. The gowns skirt also boasts a twinkling of rhinestones and ivory roses. Cissy wear the original slip and panties that came with the Evergreen Gown. The slip and panties are constructed with ivory taffeta. The slip has an evergreen ruffle to give further heft to the skirt. The elastic in the panties and slip has relaxed over the years. I ran a silk thread through the waistlines of both. Cissy also wears nylon stockings. Cissys accessories include the Evergreen Gowns matching stole, diamond earring with a matching bracelet, and a new lovely rhinestone lucite evening purse. Prized by collectors because of her rare outfit, this Cissy is one of the most pristeen high-end dolls I have ever come across. This doll is original to her outfit she came from the Madame Alexander factory wearing this ensemble. The original owner never undressed her and she was stored in a cabinet for years and years. Her hair and her face have not been touched no air-brushing, no re-blushing, no re-painting. This is very rare to find in the current world of vintage Cissy dolls. Her body is perfect, as you would expect, since she was never played with. Cissys golden blonde hair is styled in the formal way with the sides pulled up into a cluster of curls on the crown and cascading down into another cluster of curls at the nape. Her eyes are a sparkly blue-green color. She is a gorgeous doll one of Madame Alexanders most elegant! Cissy is wearing her tagged, original RARE evening gown that is known to collectors as the Camellia gown. This lovely gown is constructed of silk printed with camellias and roses. There is a small bow at the waist for accent and the skirt falls into graceful folds from the box pleats at the waist. The bodice has capped sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and there are tiny tucks at the bust and the shoulders. This ensemble has a matching velveteen stole lined in same fabric as the gown. There are two variations of the Camellia evening gown the variation on this Cissy is the rare version in fact, you hardly ever see it come up for sale. Cissys silk gown and the stole lining are not faded and the print is as bright, lovely and minty. The velveteen on the stole had faded, so the stole was de-constructed to save the lining and then re-constructed with vintage velveteen that exactly matched the non-faded part of her old stole. She still retained her original ivory taffeta panties and hooped taffeta petticoat. They are both in great condition just like her gown, but the petticoat elastic has relaxed, so I ran a thread through it. Cissys veil had pretty much disintegrated into nothing. Her high heel elastic was shot, so they were re-made with new insoles and new silver elastic to replicate the originals. The dolls original tear drop clear rhinestone earrings were still sparkly, but her necklace had blackened over the years and had no sparkle or shine left, so it was replaced with a new one. Her ring is original to her and is one of the non-adjustable rings so sought after by Cissy collectors. It is big and gorgeous. You dont see these rings very often. Cissy is wearing a new bracelet made of rose Swarovski rhinestones but best of all, she is also able to flirt because she carries a lovely little fan with a cherry blossom motif just the right accessory for this gown. This Cissy is just….. Special in so many ways. She is elegant by herself, but since she is dressed in a rare and beautiful outfit, she will be a very high-end, lovely addition to any collection. This is a 1957 Madame Alexander Cissy doll. She is dressed in her original tagged navy blue dress with a ruffled white cape, both are crisp. The straw hat needs blocking. The original watch is still attached at the waist. A pearl choker has been added. She is in very good condition Her facepaint is still bright if with tiny age spots (see closeup) her hair, a little flyaway No Alexander box. This is a very unique and extremely hard to find collection from the 1994 Madame Alexander Doll Club Convention. The owner of this doll was a table hostess and a frequent attendee of these events. This doll hasn’t been out of the box since the convention. It has been stored in a pet-free and smoke-free home. She is in excellent condition. Her eyes work perfectly fine on their own. The following paragraphs describe each of the photos. First is the doll herself. Shown with her wrist tag, clothing, and jewelry intact. She is shown with a little clay pot decorated in the Navajo style. She also has a guitar. The second photo shows the entire collection of items. The third photo is the 10+ collection for this year. This was only given to people who had attended MADC conventions for 10 years or more. It comes in a plastic box labeled 10+ Luncheon. Included is a drum with a decorative stick, cactus pin marked Arizona, small bag marked 10+ with wood chips, and a clay coyote figurine inscribed with MADCC’94 on the bottom. Fourth photo is the Madame Alexander Banquet collection. There is a doll stand in the eighth photo that should have gone in this picture (will describe the stand in that photo). White box with blue ribbon handle labeled Doll Stand Workshop MADCC 94 Treasures and Superstitions. A horse that stands about 7″ to his back (8″ to his ears). As seen in the 11th photo, he is marked on his belly with MADCC 1994. The horse was a part of the table centerpiece that the hostesses got to take home. A horse pin is included. Little booklet that describes treasures and superstitions. 4 small pieces of crystal stones of some sort. Doll sized basket with blue fabric. Small card with a miner figurine (maybe pewter) and a piece of fool’s gold… The card says MADCC banquet. Doll sized set of leather sandals. Fifth photo is the Doll Club Convention book in excellent condition. It contains details of the convention, some history of Madame Alexander, room to glue some convention souvenirs (which was never done), some blank pages to glue photos to (again, never done), and some paper dolls that could be cut out (including a paper horse). The book is 100% intact and in excellent condition. There is a paper doll of the Navajo Woman (which was not part of the book). There is also a photo of the Navajo Woman doll. There is also some sort of little treasure map. Sixth photo is the official Madame Alexander accessory kit. Included is the box, a blanket, a sheep, and a certificate of authenticity. The accessory kit is numbered 85/835 and it matches the doll. The box is in very very good condition with only minor scuff marks. Seventh photo is from the All in a Row Legends of the Phoenix breakfast. You were only allowed to attend this breakfast if you had attended two or more convention years in a row. There is a Phoenix brochure which is a list of convention members and years they had attended along with a story about the Navajo Indian cradle. There is a Phoenix pin. Small Arizona state flag. The baby in the Indian cradle was the gift for this breakfast. The 12th photo shows the label on the back of the cradle. There is a small card with a stone arrowhead. The card is marked MADCC 94 Breakfast. There are also three small stones turquoise? , a tiny turtle, and a tiny frog. The eighth photo contains the stand. This was part of the doll stand workshop. It was from ACT designs. There is a small engraved plate on the stand that says Treasures and Superstitions. The cactus on the stand is marked 94. Also shown is the guitar and pot from the first photo. The Navajo Woman pin is shown here attached to the business card of the company that made the pin (Forest View Enterprises). Lastly, we have a Kachina which is a supernatural being that helps native Americans in their every day lives. This was the table centerpiece that hostesses got to keep. The 12th photo shows his bottom and what he’s marked with. The ninth photo shows a bag that was given away during the convention. It is labeled Dolly Bears Annual Doll Artist Show. There is also an item from another workshop. It is a kit to assemble beaded moccasins for your doll. This kit has never been assembled, so all the parts and instructions appear to be there. The tenth photo shows Navajo Woman with her box, certificate of authenticity, and a story about her. The box is in very very good condition with a few rubs from being stored, but no tears. The box is marked #85, and the CoA shows 85/835. The eleventh photo shows the markings on the horse’s belly. The final photo shows the markings on the bottom of the Kachina, and the tag on the baby cradle.
