Up for your consideration is a 14 Madame Alexander Amy doll from the Little Women Series. I believe she has the rare Margaret face. She has a wig cap for hair that is in good shape. Also, she has sleep eyes that open and close freely. She has high and clear coloring. All fingers and toes are accounted for. She is hard plastic. Her dress and shoes are not original to her, however her under garments are. They are all in good shape. A beautiful doll for, your collection! Doll stand not included. Such cute faces from long ago… Complete set of “Little Women”. These are some of the harder to find, earliest beautiful cloth character dolls by Madame Alexander , circa 1930. The set of, 16″ tall, “Meg, Beth, Amy & Jo”, from the storybook, ” Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is based on the literary classic. They are all early cloth Mme. Alexander (cloth tagged) dolls in very good, original condition with completely original costumes. See further description of these super rare character dolls on pages 62-69, ” Alexander’s Rag Line “, Hunter. They are all pink muslin cloth with swivel head s and molded and flocked mask faces having painted, brown or blue side-glancing eyes , painted eyelashes and eyebrows, very well shaped and painted mouths and original thick, soft red/brown or blond hair wigs. They each wear their complete, crisp organdy dress with printed designs, white ruffled organdy collar, apron, long white cotton slips with attached long pantaloons and silk hair ribbons. They have floppy limbs with mitt-type hands with separate thumbs and shaped feet including original shoes & socks. They have no damages or fading, no stains or holes. They have no moth damage and no odors as they are from a smoke free home. These are two of Madame Alexander’s original Little Women dolls, Jo and Marme, c. 1948 and 1949, bought for me at the now-defunct Atlanta landmark, Rich’s Department Store, as a tacit reward/bribe for behaving at the dentist’s office. They are 14-inch dolls that were never playthings, so they are in excellent condition. Their clothing has the cloth labels on the back of the dresses. Each lady has an underslip, pantaloons, stockings and shoes. My only granddaughter has never been interested in dolls, so the sale will go towards her college education.
