Here is a Madame Alexander Little Women Journals Jo doll with several of her outfits. The whole set is near mint, very crisp. The set includes her doll dressmaker’s figure, sewing basket with lots of accessories, petticoats, sleepwear, her day dress, ballgown and the nice dress she comes in. She still has a hairnet over her very neat and excellent hair. There are shoes to match the outfits, hair ribbons, and her wrist tag is present but no on her. This is a fabulous set of Madame Alexander Little Women. They are the 15 hard plastic walkers from the late 40′s–early 50′s. All of the dolls except Beth came from the same collection. Marme is a bending knee walker! Left to right: Beth, Marme, Amy, Jo, and Meg. Beth is the only one whose clothing has been washed. Hair ribbon replaced with vintage. The heels are missing from her shoes. Eyes open and close nicely. Marme is missing heels off her shoes, and eyes don’t quite close all the way, but they close easily. Amy is missing heels from shoes, eyes work nicely, otherwise mint. Jo is also missing heels from shoes, eyes stick slightly—clothing is mint. Meg has heels on shoes—was missing a black bow from one shoe in the photo, but I found it and re-attached it. Her clothing is mint. Marme and Meg still have hairnets. Marme and Jo have the metal bars across their hair. This is an exceptional collection of dolls. Your chance to get the whole set at once and not have to piece it together! No bad hard plastic odors! I received this doll for Christmas in 1954. It was a “Little Women” doll, but I can’t remember which sister it was supposed to represent…. I think it was Meg. I was not allowed to play with it. It sat on top of my dresser for many years and then in a box in a closet. The condition is amazing considering she is 60+ years old. There is slight discoloration on the body, but the arms and legs are still fairly tight and she holds a position with no problem. The hair is nearly perfect. The clothes are all original, with an attached tag on the dress. Her underpants are attached at the waist to the petticoat (it is one piece). The boning in the petticoat has gotten stiff so does not make a perfect circle, but the skirt still stands out well when she is dressed. Her dress has the original cotton sewn into the bodice to create breasts (see photo). Her nylon stockings are still good…. There is a hole in the foot of one but it does not show when she has her shoes on. The dress is about as perfect as you could expect and has been washed (the petticoat, too) because it smelled musty. Her black bonnet is a little discolored (the black has faded) and the elastic at the back is not tight, but it still looks ok. The hat originally had a pink feather and she had black lace half-gloves on when I got her, but unfortunately the feather and gloves are gone. Her face is beautiful. Her eyes open and shut when she is laid flat, and when she “walks”, her head moves from side to side. I believe she is rare. Someone from Australia informed me that this doll is not a Little Women doll. She says they only came in the 14 size. She said this doll is from the Madame Alexander Edwardian Glamour Girl 1953 series. I was only 8 years old when I got this doll and my mother always said it was a Little Women doll. 2 VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER ALEXANDER-KINS LITTLE WOMEN DOLLS -bent knee +boxes. There two minty Madame Alexander-Kins dolls from the Little Women characters are in really nice shape with the gorgeous hair and pretty high color faces and nice outfits and these were really put away and not played with. The boxes show some wear but the dolls smell fine and have really nice detailed layered clothing. One is MEG #609 & the other is Beth #609 and the original boxes are not taped and only one has the head insert. Both of the dolls hair-dos are intricate stitched glued on wigs that are in fine original shape with the original hair ribbons in the original bows. All of the clothing on both dolls are clean and both have their shoes. They each have a “bent” knee legs and each have the “walking head turning” motion when the legs are moved. Perhaps these are a memory from your play past or nice items to add to your collection. The bodies are clean and nice with no breaks or skin surface problems.
