This perky and very sweet 14 Alice was produced in 2001. She is one of five dolls I will be listing from Madames 2001 Storybook Collection. Her dress is crisp and like new. Her big eyes are blue and she is made of hard plastic. Her platinum blonde wig is shiny, curly, and full. She is flawless beneath her brand-new-like clothing. She stands nicely on her own. This 21 Madame Alexander Alice doll is just spectacular! This particular size was made for only one year – 1948 to 1949. She has the Margaret face and is made of composition. The fancy key she holds in one photo and her kitten WILL accompany the doll. Her dress was faded considerably, so I have re-dyed it to its original cornflower blue. This fabric took the dye beautifully and evenly.. The white collar and hemline trim were removed and re-sewn to the garment. Her pinafore crinoline apron is crisp and white, with one small hole and snag on the bodice, down in photos. This girl has all her original pieces, including socks, shoes and bloomers. She has a blonde mohair wig in very nice condition. Her eyes are clear and blue, they open and close properly, and they have full lashes. There is some crazing on her face which I have treated with craze control and have sealed, See photo. , however she has no crazing or lifting of paint anywhere else on her body. ? She is in absolutely remarkable condition for her age. The crazing on her face is hardly noticeable, as you can see in most of the photos, except for the one close-up I took, which you can zoom-in on. I have restrung her and she can hold a nice pose without a doll stand. It is difficult to find the 21 composition Alice in either the Margaret or the Wendy Ann face because of the limited time of their manufacture. It took me a LONG time to find this doll, and she would be a treasured addition to someones collection! Thank you for looking! Madame Alexander “Alice in Wonderland” Doll. Hard plastic head, body, legs arms. Head, Legs and arms move. Legs are a bit stiff. Eyes are clear, open and close (sometime stick), no fogging and have real eye lashes. Hair has a style that looks to have been. Played with but with still the same style and a white bow in her hair. Original outfit dyed pink-tagged. Alice in Wonderland dolls: Although their dresses were originally blue, all of the taffeta versions fade to lavender and sometimes pink. Madame Alexander apparently used an unstable blue dye during this period, as the same thing happens with the blue taffeta used on other dolls, such as the 1959 Sleeping Beauty Elise. Vintage 1940s 21 Composition Alexander Dressed Alice in Wonderland Doll She’s a Beauty! Pretty Margaret faced blond Alice in Wonderland wearing her original tagged costume. 21 composition Alice with mohair wig, clear blue sleep eyes and pretty painted features. She has a very nice condition body and pretty face. She is all composition, jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. Clear and sparkly blue sleep eyes with thick brush lashes. Highlighting her eyes grey shadow, single stroke eyebrows, and below painted lower lashes. Right cheek blush, and closed rosebud lips. Her wig is all mohair in a nice set although it looks to have been combed. It is thin on the bottom. In her hair, a vintage black velvet ribbon. Alice wears her traditional blue dress with black velvet neck bow, white organdy lace trimmed apron, long white stockings, black side snap shoes, eyelet trimmed slip and panties. Around her neck, she has a Disney Alice in Wonderland watch on a chain with white rabbit and umbrella charms. Marked: Madame Alexander on her head and back. Because of her size, she will need a 24 box and the Post Office is now charging for volume as well as weight. Rates have gone up. Good, carefully played with condition. Her painted facial features are all in tack and appear original. Her lips are missing tiny amounts of paint. She has working, clear sleep eyes with thick brush lashes. Her vintage wig is mohair in a nice set although her hair looks to have been combed. It is thin and short. Even skin tone with original paint. Excellent fingers and toes. She wears nail polish. I do not think it is original but it is very professional looking – so it could be. She has light to moderate over all crazing. Paint wear to joints. No cracks, chips, lifting or flaking paint. Her costume is tagged but illegible. The dress has faded to a pale blue. The underwear, apron and stocking appear to be original. Her side snap shoes seem to be replacements. One snap is broken. Other than the fading of the blue, her costume is in good displayable condition. Please read the description and examine the photos – both are an important part of the description.
