The product is a vintage 1940′s Madame Alexander Wendy Ann Doll Bride in a pink gown. This antique fashion doll, measuring 14 inches in length, features auburn wavy hair, blue eyes that open and close, and a light complexion. The doll comes with an outfit and is an original piece from 1950, making it a collector’s item for fans of vintage dolls and classic fashion. The doll is a representation of the character Wendy and falls under the category of adult and youth collectors, with a theme centered around fashion and beauty. Made in the United States, this doll is a piece of history in the world of classic doll collecting. You will be purchasing this doll “as is”. There are imperfections- the dress lightly stained. Her hair needs some TLC. Her head needs to be fixed. Her skin and eyes look beautiful though. Looking forward to finding her a loving home.
Captivating composition Wendy Ann was made with a twist waist, a right bent knee and arms held in two positions – left extended and right with a bent elbow, allowing her to achieve many delightful positions when posed. She is all-original, with her dress tag nice and bright, suggesting no laundering of her garments. They ARE clean, though, suggesting little-to-no display of her. The molded straw hat w/narrow black velvet embellishment was used on a number of the twist-waist dolls, so you might see it on more Wendy Anns like this one which complements this darling little pink floral dress with the same black velvet ribbon trim. She has no crazing, no lifting paint, and no tiny cracks around the eyes like many composition dolls of this age get through the years. Her hair – blonde human-hair wig – is in its original set, her brush eyelashes are all intact, and her eyes are blue and while they have not crackled, the left eye appears to be darker with age. I fell in love with the twist-waist Wendy Ann my mother had in her collection and they became the first vintage doll that I began purchasing when I began my own collection. Made between 1935 and 1948, she is about 10-15 years short of becoming an antique. She is a very lovely and un-flawed example of this doll which came in a vast variety of clothing. Absolutely beautiful 20 Maggie has the most beautiful wide-eyed face I’ve seen on a doll produced from 1945 to 1952. Her hair is simply untouched perfection and her features have the original and fresh high color they had the day she was removed from her box by some very lucky child. She wears her original tagged dress and bloomers of a blue and white print that Madame used on other dolls during those years. I have added a petticoat edged with white ricrac. Her socks are clean and her faux suede red shoes are in very good condition. I added her red hair bow that matches the dress’s original belt as well as her shoes. Her walking mechanism works perfectly and her head moves side-to-side as her legs move back-and-forth. Except for some slight fading of the dress which is uniform front-to-back, Maggie looks nearly brand-new. The only way you realize there has been fading is if you take peek at her bloomers whose same print retains its original brightness. Maggie has no unfavorable hard plastic odor and would just love to come to your house! Thank you for looking at and for reading about this lovely doll, and please feel free to peruse my other listings.
