Madame Alexander Dolls

Here, for your consideration is a 20 inch Cissy from 1957, based on the information in my book. She is called “Black A-Line” Cissy. She is all original wearing her black velvet/velveteen A-Line gown. There is beaded trim at the top. She wears her original earrings, which have turned some from age. She also wears black fingerless gloves. She wears a black slip, black panties, black shoes, with back seam stockings. Her face is absolutely gorgeous with bright coloring. Her head is a little loose. She looks to have all her eyelashes. Her hair is in the original set with the RARE side curls. Her hair is ultra shiny, in my opinion. I see no crotch or knee cracks. She has her original fur stole with the little animal face showing. I have to tell you that age is taking a tole on it. It is shedding pretty badly. I’m sure you can see some on her gown. Also, on the lining in the picture, you can see where someone has tried to do some repair work. If it were me, I would get a vintage Madame Alexander stole that is “fake” fur and use that. Although, of course that is your decision. Notice the blue showing in her eyes. Based on everything I have been told and have learned, this is the original doll in her original gown with matching slip. Cissy does not appear to have any crotch cracks or knee cracks. She seems to have all her eyelashes and her face paint is just beautiful. Her coloring all over is just lovely, in my opinion. This is the way she came to me. Such cute faces from long ago… Complete set of “Little Women”. These are some of the harder to find, earliest beautiful cloth character dolls by Madame Alexander , circa 1930. The set of, 16″ tall, “Meg, Beth, Amy & Jo”, from the storybook, ” Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is based on the literary classic. They are all early cloth Mme. Alexander (cloth tagged) dolls in very good, original condition with completely original costumes. They are all pink muslin cloth with swivel head s and molded and flocked mask faces having painted, brown or blue side-glancing eyes , painted eyelashes and eyebrows, very well shaped and painted mouths and original thick, soft red/brown or blond hair wigs. They each wear their complete, crisp organdy dress with printed designs, white ruffled organdy collar, apron, long white cotton slips with attached long pantaloons and silk hair ribbons. They have floppy limbs with mitt-type hands with separate thumbs and shaped feet including original shoes & socks. They have no damages or fading, no stains or holes. They have no moth damage and no odors as they are from a smoke free home. He is all tight, recently re-strung after years of being in a box. He has yellow blonde caracul wig. Has BLACK PUPILESS EYES. He wears a mint pink satin outfit and matching hat with white pompons. Satin ribbon tie shoes with fuzzy soles. Along with him is his inseparable dark brown “reindeer” his outfit’s tag: Alexander-Kin. These are two of Madame Alexander’s original Little Women dolls, Jo and Marme, c. 1948 and 1949, bought for me at the now-defunct Atlanta landmark, Rich’s Department Store, as a tacit reward/bribe for behaving at the dentist’s office. They are 14-inch dolls that were never playthings, so they are in excellent condition. Their clothing has the cloth labels on the back of the dresses. Each lady has an underslip, pantaloons, stockings and shoes. My only granddaughter has never been interested in dolls, so the sale will go towards her college education.
