Madame Alexander Dolls

Offered here is an early Cissy dress (1956, I think) by Madame Alexander made of dimity fabric. I think it is sometimes referred to as the “Devon Rose” dress, although there was another Cissy dress made in the same fabric, but in a different style. This dress appears unwashed, but the fabric background and lace around the puffed sleeves has aged in color over the years. The flowers and greenery in the fabric still have nice color, as does the velvet ribbon encircling the waist and the streamers. The streamers may have been tied in a bow in the past, but they have not been pressed, which is a good thing for the velvet. They could be steamed to straighten them out a bit. The four rhinestones on the bodice and one on the right puffed sleeve are all present and sparkly. The original corsage is stapled in place. I think the factory could have stapled it a little higher, as it almost hides one of the rhinestones. The sleeve elastic had stretched over the years, so it was reinforced with doubled elastic thread to fit Cissy’s arms nicely again. Half of one side of the middle snap needed reinforcing, which has been done. The other side still has the factory thread, which is a little loose, but didn’t want to disturb it. The other two snaps are secure. Tissue has been placed in the puffed sleeves to hold them out pretty. There is an area on the hem (right side of dress) that I thought was a shadow I caused when taking the photo. Went back to check, and it is something that is on the fabric. It doesn’t go past the hem and looks like it would rinse out, but can’t be sure. I think the dress would benefit greatly from a soak, but it would necessitate removing the corsage, and I’m not sure how the velvet would fare. So, if you’re not bothered about the white being aged, it could remain in its original state. Or you might want to go the soak route. This dress is one of those that is harder to find. My Cisy is modeling it for you in the last two pictures, but she, her jewelry, shoes and stand are not included. Comes from a smoke-free home. Shes 21 inches tall and is strung tight from top to bottom , we all have our issues and Cissy is no different Shes has a couple of issues, for one thing she missing eye lashes and her hair needs styled she has some rub marks on neck not too bad. Wonderful set of Dionne Quintuplets dating from the 1930s when the girls were at their most famous and the whole world was fascinated. The perfect set to grace any doll collection. I have been told that the maker was Madame Alexander however I cannot see any markings to this effect. They are however very rare and precious. Condition – All of the girls have suffered from crazing to their composition which you would expect given their age. They all have little painted faces and their legs cross over like little newborns. They have all had little outfits handmade for them and have been lovingly looked after by their little owner. The babies are in a wicker basket with little cots fashioned for each of them with tiny quilts and pillows. At the bottom of their cribs there is a section for their clothes and accessories. There are various little belongs in each of these sections. At the bottom of their cribs is homemade name tags for each baby which have been pinned in place. Yvonne, Annette, Marie, Cecille and Emille. Their basket has been well preserved along with the contents but condition is consistent with the age of this rare piece. They are extra charming as you can tell that they were very much loved and their little owner must have had the most amazing fun with them. I travel all over on my quest, my trouble is I find it hard to part with most of my finds, having said that needs must and all that so keep checking in for my latest delights. This doll remains in good used condition. Doll has been played with , she could used a good cleaning I can see her arms and legs have light dirt on them. The dolls hands and feet are all in good condition no chew marks or ink spots. I would like to note that the jewelry that the doll has is a bit green and tarnished in spots both the earing s are green on the metal. The neck of the doll has some black dirt spots I think from the necklace that was once on the doll. The doll is missing the necklace and stockings. The dolls head has some movement and may need restrung. The dolls hair is in used condition it looks like she has been in a windstorm. The doll measures 20 inches long from the bottom of her feet to the top of her head. The lace that wraps around the doll is in very good condition its not torn or damaged from what I can see, it has come a bit loose from around the doll. The doll has the original black shoes and one extra red bow that goes some where on the dress. The dolls red dress is tagged cissy please see picture. If you don’t see something in the pictures that this doll originaly came with then its missing and not included in this lot. I have here a beautiful vintage Madame Alexander 20 Cissy doll in excellent condition. Cissy has no cracks, splits or bad odors. She is hard plastic with poseable jointed vinyl arms and stands alone once positioned. Cissy has sleep eyes which open and close on their own with full upper lashes although some of her lashes appear to be shorter than the others? She has rosy red lips and blushed cheeks. Beautiful wig/hair with lots of curl. Cissy wears an Rare & HTF “untagged” vintage outfit of black velvet pants which snap at waist & lace blouse with rhinestone buttons. The outfit is in excellent condition with the exception of the pink sash which has a small stain or discoloring on the end(see last picture). She wears stockings with seams in back, taffeta panties and replaced heels. She wears a vintage rhinestone ring on her finger and I’ve included two(2)vintage Cissy hats. The pale pink hat has a defect on the back rim of hat(see picture) and the black velvet hat doesn’t have a chin strap. Both hats are also untagged and in very good condition. 18 Madame Alexander Hard Plastic Maggie from the 1950s. Update from description- I did pull the bracelet off of the wrist and Cissys wrist is just fine (see last picture). Listing another Cissy from my personal collection. This is a 21 beautiful Madame Alexander Cissy doll. She is from the 1950s I think 1956. She has on her rare viole clover tagged dress. The dress has pink clover flowers with green rick rack trim, rhinestones and lace on the bodice and a green satin ribbon sash. This dress is very hard to find and usually fragile but this one in crisp and minty. She has on her pink lace slip, (I think the undies are replaced) nylons and white with red heel strap shoes. She has a beautiful pink straw picture hat with flowers and netting. Long ago I felt she needed some jewelry to wear with her outfit so I made her the necklace and bracelet, the necklace is fine but the bracelet has melted onto her wrist(see picture) I think it will pull off but I thought I would let the new owner decide. I guess that wasnt a smart decision on my end. She does have her ring. She has the most gorgeous face with beautiful blue eyes, all her top and bottom painted lashes, brows, pink lips and rosy cheek color. She has shiny blonde hair in original set. I have had her for a very long time and have never undressed her but every thing looks good, no cracks splits, stains, tears or repairs. A truly wonderful Cissy doll. She is over 60 years old so she cant be expected to be brand new but is a really nice doll. John Robert Powers Model Doll by Madame Alexander. It is my understanding that John Robert Powers ran a modeling agency in New York City in the early 1950s. In December of 1951, he started a fashion line, and he commissioned dolls from Madame Alexander as part of the promotion to attract fashionable mommies and their little girls. The Powers Model Dolls all had the Maggie face like this one. These dolls are very rare today. This Maggie doll is wearing the Powers outfit with the grey skirt, blouse, and red hat. Beneath she wears a white petticoat, panties, and nylons. Her red shoes have tiny heels that I have never seen on another doll – maybe because she is a model? Her skirt is decorated with a lock and key chatelaine-type accessory, and her blouse has little rhinestones. She carries her original oval John Robert Powers hatbox with her little grooming accessories inside. Inside the box are little hair care accessories. Her eyes do not close; they are stuck in the open position and I don’t know how to fix that. The left eye has some tiny white residue around it, and I don’t know what it is. She has nice eyelashes. Her hair has some flyaways. It’s in sort of a half-updo, with part of it pulled back from her face with a tiny bun at the top, but hanging down in the back. There are no weird or unpleasant smells. There is no “sour milk” smell or any weird smell that I think indicates “hard plastic disease”. This doll is not perfect!! She is not mint!!! I have not done anything to change this doll. I have never taken off her clothes. No weird or unpleasant smells. The grey doll stand is NOT INCLUDED. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS, BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!!!
