Madame Alexander Dolls

Lovely Vintage Madame Alexander redhead Cissy with tagged outfit. I will start by saying I know very little about vintage MA Cissy, so please feel free to ask questions as I may overlook something of importance. The doll is in very nice, played with condition. First, the doll is very clean with no odors. The body is a healthy peach color with blushing on the hands and knees. Body seems to be tightly strung, but the head is a little loose and doesn’t want to stay in position when moved. I do see a small split on her left leg at the knee, but I do not see any other splits. The body does have some very, very faint marks on the back of her calves. Her lovely red hair is in it’s original set with lots of curls and hardly any flyaway hair. The face does look a bit more yellow than the body. Her blue/green eyes open and close properly. Cissy retains lots of blush on her cheeks. The lips are a salmon color and full with no missing color. I do see a pin dot mark near her nose and another pin dot mark on her left cheek. These marks are very small and hard to see. Cissy does have a few light scratches on her left eyelid. I see no missing eyelashes. The top of her outfit is faded, but clean. I see no issues with the skirt marks, rips, stains, etc. The petticoat seems to be really big on Cissy, put her panties fit well with no noticeable issues. The stockings are rip free and stay up nicely. Such a pretty Cissy who needs a suitable wardrobe and some attention! From a smoke free home. This lovely vintage doll is from Madame Alexander and was made in 1951. She represents Kathryn Grayson and is one of the Fashion Academy Mystery Portrait series dolls. She is made of hard plastic. Portrait series dolls were all exceptional and only a small number of each doll was made. She has elaborate “make-up” and facial paint – around the eyes, lashes with top eyeliner, bottom lashes and dramatic side lashes. She has lovely blushing and rosy full lips, blue eyes, and a very rare shade of red hair in her original set. Her bangs are straight, but her hair is combed back at the sides into captured rolls, with curls that tumble onto her shoulders. She has her original flowers in her hair. Her gown is truly outstanding with three layers in the skirt, a beautiful lacy bodice and rhinestones for sparkle. There is illusion tulle to her neck and a built in necklace. The outside layer of her skirt is tulle and quite crisp. Beneath that is another layer of very silky, soft tulle, and the final layer is cream satin that matches her underwear. She has her original underwear, stockings, garter, and center snap shoes. She has her original earrings and bracelet. Condition: Her outer tulle skirt is in good condition with a few small tears around the bottom. The soft, silky tulle inner skirt is damaged and has some small and some larger holes scattered throughout. The satin inner skirt is in quite good condition with only normal age 68 years! No significant stains or damages. The bodice is in excellent condition. Her face painting is beautiful, but please examine the photos carefully. They serve as the most complete description for this doll. Remember, the photos are often bigger than life size, and whatever small issues you might see definitely do not show when the doll is displayed. This doll definitely keeps Madame Alexander’s legacy of excellence burning bright! Her hand painted features are very sophisticated, as is her dress. I’m sure she could use a good cleaning after 68 years “shelf life”, but I will leave this to her new owner. The item “21 MME. This is a 20 Madame Alexander Cissy doll from 1956. She was the last doll I received in my childhood. She comes with her box which has some damage, but the label on end is perfect. Cissy is #2012 with bright blue taffeta dress, white pillbox hat & white gloves, which have a tiny slit on each one. She has a bra & girdle plus her original white panties & half slip. Her stockings are original. Her original shoes in black & turquoise, which are included, have stretched elastic, so I have given her a new pair of black heels. Cissy also has her original pearl necklace & bracelet. Her garters have stretched elastic. A few of her lashes were missing, so I glued some new ones over original lashes. Her hair is in original set. Cissy also has a faux mink stole which is not original. No splits or cracks. She holds a pose well, & walking mechanism works well. I have mainly displayed her in different outfits, with her original clothes being packed away. It’s time for someone else to enjoy my Cissy. Please check out my other doll auctions.
