Madame Alexander Dolls

This beautiful vintage Cissy doll by Madame Alexander looks much like she would have looked when removed from her box in 1956. She is Style #2012 according to Shaw’s Cissy reference book. The doll came in either a peacock blue taffeta dress, red taffeta dress, or the rose-colored taffeta dress that this doll wears. A tulle-wrapped pillbox hat with pale pink roses tops off the dress. It is not easy to find the dress in good condition, but this one is REALLY nice and wonderfully crisp. And has a nice tag. The dress has never been washed, and please note the beautiful three-quarter banded puff sleeves with no creases. The dress closes with five secure square snaps. When going over it for the listing, I found one very light and short vertical mark up in the gathers. If I can find it again, I will take a picture of it. It is really inconsequential, though. Her little pillbox and flowers are perfect. She wears what I believe is her original Cissy slip, which has had the elastic replaced at some point, and her white taffeta lace-trimmed panties that have their original elastic, but it has relaxed some. No problem staying up. Both items are white and crisp. She wears her original seamed stockings (very slightly relaxed at the top) and NOS Premier off-white strappy high heels. Their insoles, which were cracking, were removed and replaced with hot pink insoles from a pair of Cissy shoes that were stretched out. Her original stretched-out black strappy shoes with hot pink insoles will be sent with her in the accessory box. She is wearing her original faux diamond ring, and it is a sparkler! I have added to her a double-strand faux pearl choker, a faux pearl bracelet, vintage white nylon gloves, and a white Madame Alexander accessory box in very good condition. I don’t think she originally came with an accessory box or a necklace, but could be wrong. There are no cracks in her hard plastic, no damage to her vinyl arms. I didn’t even notice any rubs at the top inside of her legs and no neck rubs. There is a little mark of some kind on the back of her right knee joint. Looked like it might come off using my fingernail, but didn’t. There is a picture of it, and I have no idea what it is or how it would have gotten there. This doll has obviously not been played with. She is jointed at the head, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. The stringing in her legs is tight, and I can hear the springs “flexing” some when I move her legs. I don’t think she had ever been put in a sitting position until I checked her joints. Her right hip joint was easier to work than the left one, but it finally did with careful perseverance. Knee joints worked more easily. Her eyes are a nice blue, and they open and close. I think her brush lashes are original. In the picture of her eyes closed, it looks like there is something a little amiss with her left eyelashes which I had not noticed before. The painted lashes seem to confuse the issue. I don’t notice anything when her eyes are open. Lip color is good. She may have had cheek blush originally, but not now. Her blonde wig is still in the factory set, but the curls in the back may have loosened some. She has original hairpins on the sides, but I think the ones in the back curls have been lost along the way. The wig is lacquered down like they did it at the factory. I never wanted to disturb her wig in any way. Her head will bob, but she can be manipulated to hold poses. She has a slight tendency to look down so I think the metal swivel in the top of her neck holding the hanger may have moved forward–maybe due to being in a box for long periods. I did not attempt to lift her head up to see as I didn’t want to stress the band. I think she probably has her original stringing judging from the rest of her. So Cissy is not perfect (nothing is), but I wouldn’t hesitate to call her minty. Since she was produced in 1956, she is now 66 years old and still looking grand. It would be hard to find a prettier example of this particular doll. She is from a smoke-free home and has no odors. A stand is not included. Available to USA MAINLAND BUYERS ONLY. For your consideration is a beautiful Vintage Madame Alexander. Cissy wearing the rare boxed extra Daisy Dress from 1955. The last 2 pictures are taken from. Shaw states in her second book. The Daisy Dress pictured is on everyone’s bucket list… Including the author’s! I’ve had this dress for many years – it came to me in a trunk with a Cissy and many beautiful clothes. I would not have known it was a Madame Alexander except for the tag. I surely did not know that it was rare until Ms. Shaw published her books – many thanks to her for these excellent resources. This dress still has the original flower corsage stapled to the bodice!! It has been carefully washed once due to yellowing from age and storage, but. Retains the beautiful body and sheen of polished cotton. The fabric is in excellent shape, including the gauze sleeves. Her dark brown hair appears to be in the original setting – I added dark pink vintage flowers for accent. Are blue with fairly full lashes which. Open and close as they should. Her eyes seem to be. A bit off set. I think this could be fixed; however, this is not something I wanted to try. Her original owner said she had been repaired in the past and possibly this occurred during or prior to that repair. Her complexion is beautiful and I do not know if she was repainted with the mentioned repair. Her stringing is very good. Otherwise, she is a lovely doll and would be an excellent addition to your collection. And gloves are Madame Alexander. One shoe has petals missing from the flower. I’m including 2 similar roses if you want to repair or replace it (see pictures 3 and 4 by hatbox). I’m unsure about stockings and ring, although ring is vintage. Her slip and panties are vintage, but not made by Alexander. The hatbox is a reproduction. I try to describe as accurately as possible but may leave. Something out please look at the pictures carefully. As they are the most important part of the description. Remember, this is a vintage doll over 50 plus years old. As a new doll would. For your consideration is a beautiful Vintage Madame Alexander Cissy. Her auburn hair is in the original setting. Are a pretty blue with full lashes which open and close as they should. Her stringing is very good. Has no flaws that I can. See just a beautiful doll. Cissy is wearing one of the Navy Polka Dot dresses, tagged, from 1958. It is made from polished cotton with white cuffs, and to my knowledge, has never been washed as the fabric is very crisp and retains a beautiful sheen. The last picture is taken from. Her panties and shoes are made by Madame Alexander. She wears a vintage slip made of flocked material. Her hat was made from all vintage material as a replica of the original. Her jewelry, pearl necklace, pearl earrings and gold diamond ring were added. I try to describe as accurately as possible but may leave something out please look at the pictures carefully. This doll is from 1955 – the First Year of the Cissy Doll! This Lovely Cissy came from original owner and was well taken care of. I know she was from 1955 because she came in the very minty navy taffeta dress and blue straw hat I have in separate listings. Hat being worn for many years caused some flyaway hairs. Cissy has her original hard curls in her tosca bob hairdo and all original blush on face hands and knees – NOT Retouched. Her Painted features are very nice with gray eye shadow which still remains. Lashes are nice on her lovely blue sleep eyes with gold highlights. She has luscious red lips and nice light pinkish flesh color which matches well all over. She has the older painted body which is one of the nicest for her age that I have found. There are barely any rub marks on neck with some paint rubs on inside legs at top, which are typical, and a few small knicks here and there, and one ink mark on back of one arm which I haven’t tried to remove. Her coloring is nice and a lovely example of the 1955 Cissy. This girl is clean with no odors. She moves and poses well, as she should. There are no knee splits. Inside one hip has very small crack, if you look way down inside, but does not show from outside nor can I get photo of it. Only other thing I see to mention is a piece of vinyl is missing on rim of right arm. It does not show when she is posed only if arm is pulled out. Her movement is not effected in any way. She will come to you wearing a replacement white lace chemise with pink bows and pink faux pearl necklace. She will be lovely displayed as is… Or dress her however your heart desires! This is the 20-21 Cissy by Madame Alexander. This Cissy is the cleanest Cissy I have ever seen. I lifted her head and looked and she is like a new doll. I love the material and fit and she also has a red rick rack can can slip that she is trying to show off in one of my pics. She will have panties and hose and a new pair of white shoes to match. She also will have a faux diamond ring that is NOT Madame Alexander. She just has a very pretty face with very blue eyes, all lashes and oh so clean. Golden blonde hair original wig. Her cheeks have been professionally blushed very lightly and sealed. She is a nicely strung doll with no issues. Since my pictures, I decided to give her earring holes, please see the last pic. For your consideration is this beautiful vintage Madame Alexander. From 1954 in a tagged pale blue organdy lace trimmed gown with puff sleeves and white pearl like buttons in the back. Under her lovely gown is a very lovely pale pink taffeta half slip with pale light blue ribbon woven around through the lace trimming and matching pantaloons. Both slip and pantaloons fit her nicely around her waist with elastic that still holds up well. She wears her original rayon socks and black velvety side snap shoes with fuzzy bottoms. Her straw hat has florets on the side and is tied under her chin with a pale blue satin ribbon. This lovely doll is shown on page 28 of Patricia Smith’s book, World of Alexander-kins. ” There are other similar Southern Belle variations or “types, but the others usually have a crocheted hat. This doll in my pictures has the harder to find straw hat and longer sleeves. She has sweet bisque like color to her plastic and original facial coloring with pale eyebrows and very rosy cheeks. Even more special are her bright clear green-eyes and soft brunette curls. – She has a tiny beginning of a crack at the top of each leg at the hip inside the cavity. Her walker mechanism doesn’t work. Her dress, slip, pantaloons and socks were very gently cleaned to remove years of settling dust that came with her when she was sent to me. She is marked ALEX on her back and her gown is tagged Alexander kins. She is a SLW or straight leg walker with her original banding. Her eyes blink and sleep as shown. Welcome to my auctions! She is pictured on page 49 in the Cissy Restoration and Rarities book. She has her original watch hanging from her waist. She has her original slip and panties and white straw hat. Her elastic on slip has had some repair and also her hat. The hat had to have a spot on the back repaired with glue, as it was starting to tear. But is not really noticeable. Her dress is crisp and stiff. I have steamed it to remove wrinkles and is in excellent condition. Her hat is white straw with tiny white velvet flower trim. The doll is clean with no odors, no splits, or cracks. Her arms are clean and even color. Her face is beautiful with matte finish, one stroke brows, blue green eyes, full lashes, nice cheek blush, and full red mouth. Her hair is a honey blond color pulled back into a tight cluster at the nape of her neck. It is held with a navy blue ribbon Her jewelry is a pair of pearl earrings, “diamond ” ring and signature rhinestone bracelet. To complete her outfit are her original nylons and black Cissy shoes.
