Madame Alexander Dolls

Cissy has had a Spa day with one of the TOP repair artists, Susan Wells Roberts. Susan’s dolls are pictured in the Cissy! Reference book by Kiley Ruwe Shaw. From top to bottom on this doll. Cissy’s hair has been Cleaned and restyled. There may be a loose curl or two when she comes to you, feel free to add a hair pin. Cissy’s face has been cleaned and brightened and sealed with a matte finish. She has an old neck split repair that Susan lightened up and matched. This split was repaired years ago at a doll shop, and was repaired correctly, and is very stable. Cissy has a split on her left leg above the knee, see pictures. She is so beautiful and high color, if I didn’t already one one from this era, I’d have kept her for myself. If you are looking for out of the box mint, this is not the doll for you. Let me know if you have questions! I do try to list and take pictures of all of my dolls and toys thoroughly. Unless specified, these dolls have been played with, stored, and may need cleaning. Vintage 1940s 21 Composition Alexander Dressed Margaret O’Brien Doll. S he’s a Beauty! Pretty Margaret faced brunette Margaret O’Brien wearing her original coat, hat and dress ensemble. 21 composition Margaret with mohair wig, clear blue sleep eyes and pretty painted features. She has a very nice condition body and pretty face. All composition, jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. Clear and sparkly blue sleep eyes with thick brush lashes. Highlighting her eyes grey shadow, single stroke eyebrows, and below long. Right cheek blush, and closed rosebud lips. Her wig is all mohair in the typical O’Brien pigtails, held in place with two blue ribbons. Margaret is wearing her original white organdy dotted Swiss dress with blue trim, full skirt and puff sleeves, blue corduroy coat decorated with white pom poms and matching hat. Underneath, eyelet trimmed one piece undies. On her feet nylon socks and black ankle strap snap shoes. MARK: Madame Alexander on her head and back. Because of her size, she will need a 24 box and the Post Office is now charging for volume as well as weight. Rates have gone up. Good, carefully played with condition. Her painted facial features are all in tack and appear original. She has working, clear sleep eyes with thick brush lashes. Her vintage wig is mohair in a nice set although her pigtails look a bit short. Even skin tone with original paint. Fingers and toes have had rough repairs on their tips – see pictures. She has light to moderate over all crazing. Paint wear to joints. No cracks, chips, lifting or flaking paint. Her costume is not tagged but is easily recognized and has working square snaps and serged seams. The coat and hat are in good displayed condition. The set has working snaps, original pom poms and light over all display soil. The dress fabric is thin and fragile. It has small rust stains at the neck, several rips – the one in front shown in pics and additionally several in the back of the skirt. All are about 1/2″ to 1″ in size. The one piece underwear appears to be original. It closes with a safety pin and is in good condition. Her socks and ankle strap, snap shoes are in good condition and look like vintage replacements. This listing is for the beautiful Sleeping Beauty doll in her original box with tissue paper! Only issued in 1959 and rarely found in this 20 size. I have decided to part with her as I just haven’t been able to display her as she deserves. Sleeping Beauty is in beautiful un-played with condition. Her outfit is in excellent condition and I believe retains all the original accessories! Doll is stunning, beautiful facial coloring. Clear eyes, clean body with no cracks or splits that I can see. (I will not remove her clothing as I do not think it’s ever been removed) Her stringing is good, arms are the one piece type, not jointed at the elbows. Her hair is bright and maintains it’s original set beautifully! The heavy slipper satin dress has begun the fading process which happens to these dolls but the affect is actually kind of pretty! I do not see any issues or markings on the dress. She has her full slip underneath as seen. Original crown has been wrapped in it’s own tissue paper and appears to be mint. Necklace and ring are original and I assume have never been removed. Her beautiful lace cape is present and i don’t think it’s ever been removed either as the tie under the chin is solid and does not look to have been altered or undone. Stockings and gold heels are present and minty. Tissue paper pieces include bottom box layer, a small wadded section which acts as a pillow for her head, the piece which protects the crown, and 2 folded sheets which cover the entire top of the doll. Original cardboard insert is also present. Box shows aging and wear. Several of the corners along the bottom are split but the upward corners appear to be sturdy as they don’t collapse or buckle. Lid is missing one side lip as seen. Original sticker on box is stamped SLEEPING BEAUTY. Original wrist tag still attached to wrist. It is foiled on one side as seen.. Both sides are quite beautiful! Around her neck, she has a Disney Alice in Wonderland watch on a chain with white rabbit and umbrella charms. Marked: Madame Alexander on her head and back. This beautiful lady was bought from her original owner this last summer. She said she was never allowed to play with it and the condition makes me believe that is true. The dress in NOT tagged, but fits well and is definitely made with attention to detail. There are applied sequins on the skirt, but one is missing on the shoulder. Her panty hose and shoes have seen better days. There are holes in the stockings and the straps are broken on the shoes. In the pictures though please notice the blush still rosy on her knees. She has on no underwear but the dress has built in slips. The truly remarkable part of this doll is her hair which is still in its original set. There are barrettes and the remnants of her original hair net. I found the flower head piece in the box with her, but it is in rough shape. It has some little stones in it similar to the dress so I thought it went with. Overall the facial coloring is just gorgeous. I hope the pictures do her justice and I hope someone wants to give her a new home for Christmas. A very kind e-bayer sent me the following information about her–She is #2097 from 1955, she is missing an ostrich fan as well as her undies! The flowers do go with the gown, she is also minus her necklace. Thank you for your interest. I will try to address your questions one at a time. There is a tiny “boo-boo” on the very end of her nose. It is about the size of a common pin head. Her dress is really pretty. The stone on the shoulder in the front is missing. Upon further examination, there appear to be some tiny stones at the seam lines on the front panel. There are no cracks, I checked her legs and body. There does appear to be a small dot of paint? On her lower left arm. I will try to add a picture of this to the description. I will see what I can do or message me and I will send it to you directly On her lashes, they all appear to be there I THINK. In the center of the left eye, there may be a couple of lashes missing? This is a wonderful rare Madame Alexander Cissy Doll named Creole Beauty. She is from the Portrait Series of 1960. Creole Beauty is a turn of the century model wearing a gown of heavy moire, ornamented with fine black silk braid and accentuated with a black maribou neckline on her overjacket. A full half slip lends support for the large sweeping skirt section of the gown. The gown is tagged Cissy. Stockings, panties, and black strappy shoes finish off her unders. Cissy carries a black velvet and sequin reticule and wears her “diamond” ring. She wears replacement earrings and hat. The gown has some slight discoloration streaks that is not easily seen in the photos. The discoloration has been seen on other examples of this outfit leading me to believe it is a product of the aging process of the fabric. However, there are also a couple of tiny areas that are actual stain spots. They are circled in one of the photos. Her cheeks have been professionally reblushed and sealed, and her face skin tone is slightly darker than the body. No seam splits or cracks. Her brunette wig is very clean and well coiffed. Lovely vintage brunette Cissette with original triple-zigzag stitched wig and flawless complexion! She has high-color rosy cheeks, pretty lashes and brows, blue sleep-eyes that open and close easily with peach eyelids. Cissette looks stunning in her blue and white polka dot ruffled dress, lined in white organdy and trimmed with a blue satin bow at the bodice. On her head, she wears the correct coordinating navy cloche hat trimmed with white flowers. Under her dress Cissette wears original seamed stockings, satin slip and panties and her original navy and silver scrappy sandals. This particular outfit is documented in. Marjorie Merod’s book on page 148, as one of the Mystery Beauties. Similar in style as #909 of 1957. Cissette also has her original pearl earrings and an added repo pearl chocker/bracelet. The doll is in wonderful, clean vintage condition and displays beautifully. A stand will be included. No odors, smoke free environment.
