Vintage Alexander Elise bride doll from the 1950s. Hard plastic with vinyl jointed arms. She measures approximately 16 inches tall. Veil headpiece shows wear consistent with age. Small split on the edge of the lace, as shown. Elastic on bloomers and slip stretched and pinned in place. Top snap of dress missing. Dress and veil have darkened with age. Vintage 1940s Margaret OBrien 18 HP Doll By Madame Alexander, Orig. This hard plastic doll is in excellent condition. She has soft brown hair in bundled braids with bangs. She has green glass sleepy eyes, painted lower lashes, single stroke brows, rosy cheeks and a closed rosebud mouth. She has a full set of real lashes and her eyes open and close as they should. She is dressed in her original untagged dress. It is a blue cotton short sleeved dress with a sheer white organza pinafore. Underneath she is wearing a netted tutu type petticoat, white eyelet trimmed panties, white socks and black shoes. Origin of the hat and shoes is uncertain if original. She is marked ALEXANDER on her head. She has all of her fingers on both hands. She has no visible marks, cracks or blemishes. Her finish is super. She can stand and balance independently. Doll is physically in great condition with all original joinings and mechanisms. However, her neck tilts to the left. Hair is in need of TLC, though it is quite full and does not appear to be missing much at all. Please view closeup photos of her wig cap. Her wig cap is securely intact against her head and isnt coming loose, however, there are spots where the wig cap is damaged. Doll cannot stand on her own. While all limbs are intact, her hip joints do not allow her to stand without a doll stand (not included). Dress has some sun fading on spots on sleeves, hem has come undone in one 5 spot on front right though it maintains its upward bend. Seam line tear on back of dress beneath snaps. Snaps are all snug and functioning. Beautiful doll with great bones and original dress, excellent for someone who can make her look shiny and new again! 20 Cissy Doll 1958 (Doll Only). I found her wearing her Flowery painted gown and hat (they are in separate listings). She can be seen on page 137 in “Cissy Reference Rarities Restoration” and page 39 of “The Cissy Files” by Kiley Ruwe Shaw. She is in non play, lovely condition. The only flaw is a separation on outside left knee. She has been restrung with new bands, otherwise all original gorgeous face, eyes and wig. Very clean and no odors. Lovely vintage 1950s Cissy doll by Madame Alexander. Marked “ALEXANDER” on the back of her head. She measures 20 inches tall. Blonde (reddish tone) wig with some tightly rolled curls on her right side of her face. Hair is a bit mussed and could use a bit of styling. She does NOT have pierced ears. Hard plastic body with vinyl jointed arms. Blushed hands and knees. Really pretty face paint and a lovely sweet expression on her face. She will hold a pose. She sits and can bend her knees. Her head is a little wobbly. He eyes open and close. Some of her right eye lashes are missing. Her left eye lashes are full. She has a brass doll ring on her right hand original to Cissy???? and when removed you will notice there is some verdigris (discoloration) on her right ring finger from the ring being there for a long time. I have not tried to remove the discoloration. She is wearing a cute Tulip Print cotton circle skirt and matching blouse. The blouse is missing the snaps on the back so it is pinned in place. She is wearing what I believe to be her original Cissy Can Can rick rack taffeta slip with her panties with lace trim. The slip’s waist elastic has stretched out some. There are a couple of spots on the slip and a couple of small tears. Panties waist is fairly tight. Did not notice any tears or spots on the panties. The skirt and blouse has been freshly hand laundered and no spots or tears noted. I did not wash the slip or panties. Comes with her seamed stockings with elastic at the top. Elastic is in good condition and stays up. There is a small hole on the back of one nylon stocking at the calf. And noticed a small hole on the heel of her left foot. She has some rub marks on both sides of her neck. Rub marks on both side of her inner legs. No cracks noted on her legs or body. Small mark on the back of her right leg at calf where I think her stocking has gotten stuck on her leg over the years. I have not tried to remove the residue from the seamed stocking on her leg for fear of doing damage to her body. Will leave that to the doll experts. Small mark glue residue?? on the back of her upper left thigh right under her buttock. Her soft vinyl left arm has a small tear near the underarm. It was noticed when I pulled her arm a little further out of the joint. No chew marks on her hands. PLEASE look at all the photos and fully read the description. BEAUTIFUL RARE “MAGGIE” WALKER 18 MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL! 1951 MAGGIE WALKER “ALL DRESSED UP” IN TAGGED PINK DRESS & TAGGED SWING COAT W/ MATCHING BLACK VELVET BERET HAT! I have never seen another Maggie Doll like this HARD PLASTIC DESIGNER DOLL! There is a photo on page 86 of the book MADAME ALEXANDER’S COLLECTOR’S DOLLS by Patricia Smith—of AN 18″ MAGGIE WALKER DOLL WEARING AN IDENTICAL DRESS with LACE POCKET HANKIE—but without the ORIGINAL BLACK VELVET BERET & DESIGNER “SWING COAT with MATCHING BLACK VELVET COLLAR & CUFFS! SCHWARZ, BLOOMINGDALE’S, NEIMAN-MARCUS, SAKS FIFTH AVENUE, and SEARS & ROEBUCK. These dolls often had elaborate designer limited edition outfits. THIS BEAUTIFUL 18″ HARD PLASTIC MAGGIE WALKER DOLL CAME TO ME WEARING THIS COMPLETE TAGGED MADAME ALEXANDER OUTFIT: HER BEAUTIFUL STRUTTING PINK DRESS with “white” FAILLE COLLAR & CUFFS, BLACK VELVET ORIGINAL BERET, and BEAUTIFUL MATCHING “SWING COAT with DESIGNER BLACK VELVET COLLAR & FLARED CUFFS (like dress) closed with TWO ORIGINAL COVERED BUTTONS—beautifully lined in SHEER PINK SILK! (some threads from seams have unraveled but the only way to get them out from under the sheer lining would be to unstitch a seam—the seams are so tight and beautifully sewn so straight with very tiny stitches, Maggie and I just choose to “not see” these stray threads). I JUST FOUND HER TAG ON HER COAT—IT WAS ROLLED UP UNDER HER VELVET COLLAR at the very back! I adopted SWEET MAGGIE from her ORIGINAL OWNER who told me MAGGIE IS DRESSED IN HER ORIGINAL HAT, COAT, DRESS, SHOES & SOCKS—just like she came to me. I have no reason to doubt her. THIS IS ONE GORGEOUS GIRL—A DESIGNER DOLL—A RARE BEAUTY! Perhaps this explains why this set is rarely seen today. As soon as Miss Maggie arrived in my Doll Room, she introduced herself to other Madame Alexander Beauties. And then she met my 1971 JACQUELINE PORTRAIT “GODEY” DOLL wearing a BEAUTIFUL BLACK VELVET BONNET with SILK FLORALS and WIDE PINK SATIN RIBBON TIES. Miss Maggie took one look at her and asked to “try on” her bonnet, looking in the mirror saying, THIS BONNET FRAMES MY FACE! I SHOULD HAVE WORN THIS! I didn’t have the heart to tell her that she would have had to wait 20 years for THIS “GODEY” BONNET TO BE DESIGNED. But I just happened to have this Vintage Bonnet in my DOLL BOUTIQUE (without the original doll). MISS MAGGIE SAW IT AND SAID THERE IT IS—IT’S MINE! And NOW IT IS! THIS BONNET IS NOT MINT—the silk florals have aged and there are some small dark marks like pen ink? On the ribbon—but Maggie just tied it so they don’t show and she is perfectly happy wearing it. BOTH HER ORIGINAL BLACK VELVET BERET & THIS 1971 GODEY VELVET BONNET ARE INCLUDED WITH HER. Her original belt was missing, so Miss Maggie chose “BLACK VELVET, PLEASE, WITH DIAMONDS” so “yours truly” designed the belt she now wears. SO IN ESSENCE THIS BEAUTIFUL MAGGIE WALKER DOLL is ACTUALLY A “ONE-OF-A-KIND BEAUTY”—with her NEW BELT & “NEW” BONNET! She wears original lace trimmed panties that tend to be caught inside her hip joints from “walking”. HER WALKER MECHANISM WORKS WELL with her head turning when she takes “steps”. IN HER ORIGINAL BLACK OILCLOTH SNAP SHOES with BOTH HEELS INTACT—her shoes have “worn with age”, at the back especially—I actually “stitched” one with needle & black thread to mend the worn cloth to keep the shoe “together”. The front of the shoes look quite intact. My best guess is in “walking” the back of the one shoe was “rubbing” on metal doll stand. I have tied only one foot to her doll stand, leaving her “worn” shoe free from rubbing against stand. I have not undressed this doll so I cannot speak to the quality of her torso or arms. But I believe her body has been “protected” by her original attire so it should be even color. One leg has very slightly less color than the other leg probably from exposure to light over the years being on display (nowadays we know sunshine is harmful to hard plastic). With minimal age marks from “wear and tear”. AND THIS DOLL SITS BEAUTIFULLY! HER LEGS LOCK INTO PLACE FOR SEATED POSITION, and the pop back into standing position. THIS DOLL APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN WELL LOVED AND WELL CARED FOR. HER DESIGNER “SWING COAT” IS A STYLE MADAME ALEXANDER USED FOR HER “CISSY” DOLLS IN 1955 AS “SEPARATES” OR “BOXED EXTRA” and are HTF (hard to find) or VHTF (very hard to find) according to Kiley Shaw’s newest book CISSY! ” (beginning on page 181 “By Year section). But NONE OF THEM HAD A BLACK VELVET COLLAR AND CUFFS like MISS MAGGIE’S—BEAUTIFUL IN BLACK & PINK! WHOSE SWING COAT, I STILL BELIEVE, IS NOT COMMONLY SEEN—BUT IS “HTF” HARD TO FIND these seventy years later. Miss Maggie is wearing a new custom made multi-tiered white nylon petticoat with pastel pink trim—for extra skirt strut. MISS MAGGIE HAS VIVID ORIGINAL FACE COLOR: RUBY RED LIPS, “FEVER” PINK CHEEKS, hand painted DOUBLE STROKE BROWS, & SIGNATURE LONG UNDER EYE LASHES. ORIGINAL PINWHEEL SLEEP EYES with FULL ORIGINAL BRUSH LASHES. ORIGINAL WIG with BANGS & CURLS framing her face, and peeking out from under her bonnet. Miss Godey wore her bonnet collar “down”. Miss Maggie wears it “up” to show her curls. Miss Maggie and I think the “FLARED BONNET” matches her Flared cuffs on both her dress and coat. But she has only been with her original owner and me. I have a hunch Madame Alexander may have released this Beauty with the intention of making her “Princess” outfits for years to come—but suddenly without warning—Princess Elizabeth becomes QUEEN ELIZABETH on February 6, 1952. It is a very intriguing possibility. IN ANY EVENT, I WILL LET YOU DECIDE IF MISS MAGGIE IS PRETTY AS A PRINCESS IN PINK! THE QUEEN’S JEWELS by Leslie Field, page 17. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REQUEST ADDITIONAL PHOTOS OF THIS BEAUTY—I have taken so many more that I could not included in this listing! One more tidbit: Madame Alexander did make a Rare “Glamour Girl” Maggie Walker doll in 1953—wearing A LONG PINK TAFFETA GOWN WITH BLACK VELVET BODICE & TRIM ON THE PUFFED SLEEVES. Could have very likely been a ROYAL DOLL—described simply as “VICTORIAN”, perhaps with QUEEN VICTORIA in mind. In 2006, Linda Crowsey valued this Glamour Girl Doll at 2,200—quite a Royal Price, page 188 of the book MADAME ALEXANDER DOLLS 1948–1965. PINK & BLACK VELVET—A ROYAL COMBINATION—USED SPARINGLY BUT VERY WELL by MADAME ALEXANDER. THE ABSOLUTELY LAST FACT: MADAME ALEXANDER “MAGGIE” FACE DOLLS were NEVER REPLICATED BY OTHER DOLL COMPANIES—the Margaret face was replicated by many—SO WHEN YOU ADOPT A “MADAME ALEXANDER MAGGIE DOLL” YOU KNOW SHE IS “ALEXANDER” THROUGH AND THROUGH—NO ONE WAS EVER ABLE TO RECREATE HER VERY UNIQUE FACE—ONLY MADAME ALEXANDER MAKES MAGGIE DOLLS!! Vintage 1957-58 Madame Alexander Cissette doll. Brunette hair, triple stitched part. Wearing tagged aqua blue cotton dress with lace trim. Woven hat with flocked flowers and veil. Presented here is a fabulous 1950′s Madame Alexander Cissette doll. Hair with a triple stitched part wig, still in the most of the original lovely curls, smooth with a nice sheen. The eyes open and close freely, hard upper lashes, painted under lashes, single stroke brows, coral mouth, lovely coloring. She has pierced ears with pearl embellished drop earrings. The doll is hard plastic, bent knee, good strings, holds a pose well, marked on the back; MME Alexander, no splits. She is wearing the original tagged dress, it is aqua-blue cotton with a full circle skirt, buttons in the front, trimmed with lace. She has a taffeta slip with net flounce and aqua-blue panties with lace trim, matching satin high heel pumps. Her hat is fabulous, woven cream color with wide shaped brim, it has a matching woven blue bow on top, covered with fine veil around the front. Lovely vintage 1950s Cissy doll by Madame Alexander. Marked “ALEXANDER” on the back of her head. She measures 20 inches tall. Blonde (reddish tone) wig with some tightly rolled curls on her right side of her face. Hair is a bit mussed and could use a bit of styling. She does NOT have pierced ears. Hard plastic body with vinyl jointed arms. Blushed hands and knees. Really pretty face paint and a lovely sweet expression on her face. She will hold a pose. She sits and can bend her knees. Her head is a little wobbly. He eyes open and close. Some of her right eye lashes are missing. Her left eye lashes are full. She has a brass doll ring on her right hand original to Cissy???? and when removed you will notice there is some verdigris (discoloration) on her right ring finger from the ring being there for a long time. I have not tried to remove the discoloration. She is wearing a cute Tulip Print cotton circle skirt and matching blouse. The blouse is missing the snaps on the back so it is pinned in place. She is wearing what I believe to be her original Cissy Can Can rick rack taffeta slip with her panties with lace trim. The slip’s waist elastic has stretched out some. There are a couple of spots on the slip and a couple of small tears. Panties waist is fairly tight. Did not notice any tears or spots on the panties. The skirt and blouse has been freshly hand laundered and no spots or tears noted. I did not wash the slip or panties. Comes with her seamed stockings with elastic at the top. Elastic is in good condition and stays up. There is a small hole on the back of one nylon stocking at the calf. And noticed a small hole on the heel of her left foot. She has some rub marks on both sides of her neck. Rub marks on both side of her inner legs. No cracks noted on her legs or body. Small mark on the back of her right leg at calf where I think her stocking has gotten stuck on her leg over the years. I have not tried to remove the residue from the seamed stocking on her leg for fear of doing damage to her body. Will leave that to the doll experts. Small mark glue residue?? on the back of her upper left thigh right under her buttock. Her soft vinyl left arm has a small tear near the underarm. It was noticed when I pulled her arm a little further out of the joint. No chew marks on her hands. PLEASE look at all the photos and fully read the description. Beautiful Madame Alexander 20 Cissy doll with aqua taffeta tagged dress. (few small stains) top snap on dress has one side missing, easy fix! She has necklace, bracelet and ring, shoes and nylon stockings. No cracks or splits. Her head is a little loose but poses fine. Doll stand not included!
