KAREN BALLERINA – MADAME ALEXANDER – 18 ALL COMPO VINTAGE. Condition is “Used” but Excellent. She has never been played with nor undressed. She is all original, her outfit is complete. Her stringing in her arms are loose, but can be re-strung. Owner will leave that to the new Owner. Although she has never been undressed, she has been displayed in a climate-monitored atmosphere out of sunlight. Only crazing is above the photo left eye. I have taken a close-up of that area. As you can see in the pictures, she is still in her original, untouched elaborate coiffure with braided coronet at the crown and floral-decorated coiled braids at each side of the face. Jointing at the shoulders and hips. She has her original, still stiff tulle ballerina costume with gold rick-rack trim, original panties, ballet slippers, velvet choker ribbon and wrist ties. “Ballerina” known as “Karen Ballerina” was offered in the Madame Alexander 1946 catalog. Hi everyone, here is a pretty vintage Madame Alexander Karen Ballerina composition doll 18in tall, no odors, her hair is in original set, composition to her face is nice, sleep eyes work well, strung & poses, but could stand to be strung a little tighter. See the picture of the composition on her back there are several areas that have good sized lines, but they are stable with no flaking. She is in her original dress, however at some point, someone has tried to ad blue color back into it & it is uneven, feels a little tacky, but does not come off when rubbed, the sheer netting has holes in it in spots, her shoes are original & her black velveteen ribbon on her neck & wrists are original. Despite someone trying to add blue color back to her dress, she is a very beautiful doll with hair in original set. What a GORGEOUS doll! Produced in 1948 & 1949, this beautiful & rare 15 Rosamund variation is rare. I’ve had her in my personal collection for many years, and I was lucky enough to acquire her from the original owner, well protected in her original box! Her lovely tagged costume is in outstanding condition, with only a few tiny breaks in the tulle skirt of the gown. I don’t think I could locate them again if I tried! The pale pink satin bodice is trimmed in ruffled pink tulle, which matches both the gathered straps and the full skirt. There are two layers of tulle in the skirt, the outermost & longest trimmed in pink satin ribbon and decorated with three scattered light pink cabbage roses. The innermost skirt layer is a very lightweight light pink taffeta. Her panties match the underskirt, and close at the back with one square snap. The gown also closes as the back with two square snaps. The original rose & velvet forget-me-not bouquet at the waist is complimented with light blue ribbon, a tiny velvet forget-me-not attached to the bottom of each streamer. Maggie’s headpiece, in perfect condition, is composed of stiff green woven straw. Rosebud trim is fastened. Across the middle, and light pink roses and green leaves decorate each side. She wears her original hosiery & satin center-snap shoes. This is an exquisite doll, with flawless features and all original coloring. Her blonde wig hangs in pretty curls dusting her shoulders, and she has clear blue eyes with full lashes. Maggie has no splits, cracks or odors. Her original box is in fair condition, with some old “tape mending, ” and some pieces torn from the lip of the box lid. NMIB, she doesn’t come along often. DON’T LET HER GET AWAY. This is Karen Ballerina, made only one year, between 1948 and 1949, by Madame Alexander. She is all original from head to toe. Her beautiful (Margaret) face has beautifully painted red lips, delicate stroke eyebrows, and her beautiful clear, amber sleep eyes have all their original upper lashes and painted lower lashes. Her hair is blonde, done in an updo braid across her head, accented with her original pink roses in her hair. There are 3 on each side. Her lovely dress is made with a soft vintage net fabric, that has started to deteriorate. The top is lined and is accented with golden braid. She is wearing her original “taffeta” blue panties edged with a ruffle. She wears her original black velveteen ribbon around her neck. Original black velveteen ribbons on her wrists are attached to the top layer of her dress. She wears her original pink ballerina slippers. Her dress IS tagged but has faded over the years. She is in beautiful condition with minor crazing, the thumb on her left hand is chipped. Please view all photos, as they are an important part of the description.
