This is a beautiful Madame Alexander “Godey Lady” by Madame Alexander. She is an early Portrait doll by Madame Alexander. She was documented in 1938 catalogs and then was documented again in 1946. This doll is in good condition – see photos. She has full eyelashes with brown sleep eyes, blue painted eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, fashion painted eyelashes, exaggerated painted eye brows and pearl earrings with pearl necklace. She has some slight typical craze lines on her face in the composition but no lifting. You might use some craze con-sealer on her. The doll doesn’t have any repaint and has been black-lighted. She has her original pink taffeta fabric and lace dress, purse and bonnet trimmed with Madame Alexander roses and a pink ribbon with bows running down the back all the way to her bustle! The original Alexander green and gold clover leaf tag is on her wrist. Her mohair wig is in it’s original set. She has her original slip, bloomers, socks and shoes that are still tied with a bow. Lady Windermere or Miss Renoir was marketed in 1938 by Madame Alexander as one of the desired Lady of Fashion Portrait dolls. She has deep crazing and I believe her dress has been reworked and the ribbon replaced. She has some kind of flaw/damage behind her ear (see pictures). Maybe touch up paint on her crazing? She has her original curled mohair wig with flower hat. She comes in shoes and undergarments, with a ruffled lace underskirt, pantaloons and stockings. She has beautiful golden eyes and full lashes with blue eyeshadow. She is gorgeous and sophisticated. She wears black lace gloves and a beaded bracelet. All fingers and toes. This is #491, Little Godey Lady, from 1955. She is 8 tall, made of hard plastic and is a straight leg walker. Her walker does not always work. She has a blonde triple stitch wig in a flip style, blue sleep eyes, perfect rosy cheeks and red lips. She is wearing a tagged, clean and crisp cerise taffeta gown, black felt jacket with black beading, matching hat with feather plume and rose, petticoat, pantaloons, rayon socks and black velveteen side snap shoes with fuzzy bottoms. She is in Pristine Condition and is Very Rare. She comes with her original Madame Alexander doll stand. Rare 18 Vintage All Original Madame Alexander Glamour Girl Doll Godey Lady. She is one of 7 gorgeous dolls from the Madame Alexander Glamour Girls series – produced only in 1953. Please reference page 57-58 of book “Treasury of Madame Alexander Dolls” by Jan Foulke, C 1983, Second Edition, Hobby House Press, where the seven dolls in the series are pictured and described: A breath-taking series of seven ladies created by madame Alexander in 1953. All are 18 hard plastic dolls with walking mechanism…. All the costumes are of the Civil War Period Gone-With-theWind type…. Full skirts, tiny waists and hoop skirts. This beautiful 18 Glamour Girl Godey Doll is all original and very hard to find. These were high end dolls when made, and since they were made one year only, all seven are rarely found. She has the Maggie face, clear brown sleep eyes with all lashes intact, and is dressed in full length gown having apricot red taffeta skirt with white bodice and sleeves, over this she wears a gray faux fur stole lined with matching taffeta, ribbon ties. Matching bonnet has wide brim and gathered crown. She has wired crinoline petticoat with deep ruffled hem, ruffled bloomers, white thigh high seamed stockings and black shoes. Dress retains “Madame Alexander” cloth label – retains crisp lettering. She is a walker, head is a little loose, but turns smoothly when legs move. She has nice coloring – bangs are feathered and a little uneven but I believe that’s how she was made. There is no box or wrist tag, and no hat box. Shoes and stockings are in near mint condition. Madame Alexander Lady Godey 14 Doll Vintage 1950′s w/clothes and tags. Hard plastic body; her eyes open and close. All original clothes and tags. The dolls is in good used condition for her age. Please see photos that show age-related? Spots on the right sleeve and the front and side of the dress. There also appears to be a slight split or pull age-related? In the front of the dress bodice. She was displayed but not played with. Like with many vintage dolls and doll clothes there may be occasional signs of prior use which contributes to the character of the dolls and their clothes. She can be seen on page 31 of the Cissette book by Marjorie Merod. Cissette is in excellent condition with no splits, breaks, or stains in her plastic. She has very bright and beautiful original facial coloring. Her hair is beautiful and in its original set. Her dress is in excellent condition with no holes, stains, tears or odors. The lovely color pink is consistent throughout the dress and has not faded. The flowers on the dress and on the shawl are in great condition as well. Under the dress she wears a long pink slip in very good condition and a pair of perfect bloomers. Her stockings look to be in good condition with no runs that I can find and her shoes maintain some original stretch and are not overly stretched out. The silver on the bottom of the shoes has worn off in a few spots but you will never see it when she is standing up. Cissette completes this outfit with a beautiful hat, triple drop earrings and gold bracelet. The hat is beautiful with absolutely perfect flowers on top. Under the hat there is a very small mark that I noticed when picturing and wanted to mention. The earrings and bracelet are both in excellent condition.
