LADY IN RED, is simply a stunning piece of art. This doll has a presence about her… She knows her place in the doll room! She is identified by her signature wig. It does not disappoint!!! Beautifully blonde with an elaborate sea of curls. Another feature is the high arched brows that are seen on certain dolls from 1958. Condition: Reblushed and lips are retouched. Slight cracks high in the hip cavity. Clothing: Original panties and hoop slip. It is made of a heavy taffeta and lined in the same fabric. Dramatic box pleats add to the fullness. Dress has some fading at the top of the bodice which is covered by the tulle stole. One water spot in front, also covered by the tulle. Doll is wearing a replaced tulle stole with flocked polka-dots. Accessories: She is wearing her distinctive and original pearl choker. She has her vintage snowflake pin. She is wearing her original Diamond ring. She has her original red velvet hairbow, but is pictured wearing a replacement one made from vintage ribbon. She will come with both. I believe earrings are replaced. Lady Churchill is a walker. I believe she is all original. Dress has some marks. Loop on skirt bottom is twisted-was hoping new owner will be able to repair. She has been in storage for many years. Nice doll, just doesn’t fit in my collection. She will need to be insured and signature required. She is a hard plastic walker. Wearing a pink satin coat trimmed with rhinestones around the neckline. Matching gown of same material and color. It appears that a rhinestone at neckline of dress is missing. 21 RARE Madame Alexander Composition Portrait Renoir Lady Windermere 1938 1946. 21 RARE Madame Alexander Composition Portrait Renoir or Lady Windermere circa 1938 WOW! It is not very often the elusive Madame Alexander Composition Portrait “Lady of Fashion” dolls come on the market. This is a 21″ composition portrait identified as “Renoir in the Alexander archive. It is more often identified as “Lady Windermere” as in “American Composition Dolls” Volume Two by Ursula R. See photo on page 25. The doll is in good condition with light crazing on her composition as seen in the photos. The facial complexion paint is vibrant and has not been retouched. The hand painted lashes and eyebrows are signature features of the portrait dolls, as are the blue painted eyelids, gray eye shadow and bright lip color. The full mohair wig is in the original set. This doll is wearing her original outfit with just the stockings, hat, and panties replaced. The composition 21 portrait dolls were originally marketed in 1938. They were discontinued during the WWII era, reappearing in 1946 when more characters were added to the group. Some of the original set were re-named in the later group. This is a beautiful Madame Alexander “Godey Lady” by Madame Alexander. She is an early Portrait doll by Madame Alexander. She was documented in 1938 catalogs and then was documented again in 1946. This doll is in good condition – see photos. She has full eyelashes with brown sleep eyes, blue painted eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, fashion painted eyelashes, exaggerated painted eye brows and pearl earrings with pearl necklace. She has some slight typical craze lines on her face in the composition but no lifting. You might use some craze con-sealer on her. The doll doesn’t have any repaint and has been black-lighted. She has her original pink taffeta fabric and lace dress, purse and bonnet trimmed with Madame Alexander roses and a pink ribbon with bows running down the back all the way to her bustle! The original Alexander green and gold clover leaf tag is on her wrist. Her mohair wig is in it’s original set. She has her original slip, bloomers, socks and shoes that are still tied with a bow.
