Here is a vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll from 1958. She is very elegant, in mint condition and all original. This is a high-end very rare doll and one of the most sought after among vintage Cissy collectors who refer to her as Evergreen Cissy. The doll has never been touched. Cissys hair is rich and lustrous. The lovely burnished auburn wig is in its original formal set pulled up and back at the sides and falling into turned-under curls at the nape of the neck. Her face paint is lovely and totally original with no touch-ups and no repainting of any kind. Her eyes are crystal clear blue. I have many Cissy dolls that have had their blushing and hair re-done. They are lovely and I enjoy them, but having an all original doll that looks like it just came from the Alexander factory is a joy. It is difficult to believe that she is so mint and so pristine. Of special note, this doll is featured in Kiley Shaws book, The Cissy Files, on page 43. Cissys gown is spectacular, tagged and very rare. The bodice is constructed of dark green netting over an ivory organdy lining. Evergreen netting is gathered at the neckline to frame the dolls face beautifully. The neckline is further accented by ivory cabbage roses. The gowns skirt is constructed of gathered layers of evergreen netting over an ivory organdy under-skirt. This skirt is very full, keeping with the high standards that Madame Alexander used in those days to costume her elegant dolls. Yards of fabric were used to ensure fullness and a beautiful drape to the clothing. The gowns skirt also boasts a twinkling of rhinestones and ivory roses. Cissy wear the original slip and panties that came with the Evergreen Gown. The slip and panties are constructed with ivory taffeta. The slip has an evergreen ruffle to give further heft to the skirt. The elastic in the panties and slip has relaxed over the years. I ran a silk thread through the waistlines of both. Cissy also wears nylon stockings and brand new silver high heels with silver elastic. Cissys accessories include the Evergreen Gowns matching stole, diamond earring with a matching bracelet, and a new lovely rhinestone lucite evening purse. Here for your consideration is a lovely blonde vintage Madame Alexander 21 Cissy Doll dressed in her minty tagged navy blue Cissy outfit from 1955. This outfit is often referred to as “Navy with Bolero 1955″. Dress (Mint): The dark navy blue dress and matching bolero are in mint condition. The taffeta is crisp. There are no rips, tears, holes, stains, or odors. There are five snaps running down the back of the dress and they are all present and attached. The armhole tulle is there. The little white grosgrain bow is attached as is the snap. Hat (Mint): The hat is in mint condition. The elastic that secures the hat under Cissy’s chin is present and not stretched. The wire within the brim of the hat is flexible and allows the hat to be molded. I dipped the brim in a bit just because I liked the look but I flatten the brim out when I removed the hat. Slip (Excellent) : The slip is vintage and there are no rips, tears, holes, stains, or odors. I took the waist band in a little bit because the elastic had stretched. This slip is exactly the length of the dress so if it is not tight on the doll’s waist it can slip down and reveal itself. The rick rack is a little larger than I’m use to seeing on Cissy’s slips. I don’t know if larger rick rack was used back in 1955 or if the rick rack was added later. Regardless, the slip is beautifully full and works perfectly with the dress. Panties (Not Original): Cissy is missing her original panties. She is wearing a sweet vintage girdle instead. (Perhaps she thought she needed the support). Stockings (Excellent) : The stockings are in excellent condition. They are vintage but were not made by the Alexander doll Company. I say this because the top elastic is brown rather than pink. The nylons have retained most of their elasticity. Shoes (Not Original) : The navy blue shoes are not original but they go nicely with this outfit. Gloves (Very Good): The vintage white nylon gloves are in very good condition for their age. There is a little staining on the seams of the fingers from the thread. Hat Box (Excellent): Pink Madame Alexander hat box with the. Fashion Academy Awards medallion attached to the elastic. The box is in excellent condition and empty. Two strand pearl necklace and two pearl bracelets. Doll (Excellent) : Cissy has beautiful facial coloring, full lashes, and crystal clear blue sleep eyes. Her blonde hair is thick and almost in its original set. Both of her knees bend with ease as do her arms. There are no cracks or splits. She will come to you wearing a hairnet so that her hair stays in place. Her only drawback and it’s minor is that her head has a tendency to tilt back a little when you lift her up but it’s easily put back into place and it will stay where you place it. With pink roses in her luxurious Brown hair and bouquet, and a movie star beautiful Margaret face, this stunning Princess Margaret Rose is a knockout in this 14 size. The gown, fashioned from yards of the finest silk organza, is the most beautiful shade of deep pink with a Madame Alexander tag attached. Trimmed with a silver braid at the hem. Delicate jewelry includes a refined beaded necklace and crystal drop at the center of the sweetheart neckline. A clover wrist tag is included. The golden era of the Alexander Doll Company was in full swing at this point in time. The company was working on all cylinders and had recently moved to their new factory building in Harlem. Here is the 1953 #351 SLW Blue Danube Alexander-kins… She is in beautiful mint condition, the only mark I could see was a pinpoint on her dress, as shown in the photo, and only visible at extremely close range. Her hair is lovely and her hat and muff are in near perfect shape. Her petticoat is a bit stretched at the waist and has been pinned. Her socks are a bit stretched out as well. These things are due to simple age. Her walking mechanism works but not vigorously as her string is a bit loose. I have included a vintage MA stand for her and she holds up in it well. For your consideration- A gorgeous Cissette in outfit #815 with Alexander booklet and in her original box. Perfect high color, mint blonde hair, pearl earrings, gold necklace. Crispy mint 50′s print circle skirt and black jersey sweater. Gold metallic belt slip, panties, nylons and black elastic strap shoes.
