1939-42 Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll , 18 tall, celebrity doll. Sonja Henie was an Olympic gold medalist ice skater and movie star, all composition, blonde curly replaced wig, brown sleep eyes, small amount of lashes missing on left lid, open mouth showing four teeth, dimples & minor light crazing. She has paint loss as shown in photos, toes are slightly chipped & she has chip under chin and right side of head plus filled crack. Her right hand fingers show repair. Letters M A is slightly visible under replaced wig back of head. Her replaced skating dress is made of black velvet & peach taffeta, skates are replacements & are in bad condition. Previous owner sewed blades to skates & left blade is missing front piece. The hang tag is a photo copy of an original. Although not a perfect Sonja, she is beautiful. She is truly beautiful. She is full composition, light crazing, very light, stringing is good, she does have the usual rubbing at leg and arm joints, She wears a lovely pink non-tagged outfit. She wears vintage oilcloth ice skates. Sonya has a gorgeous facial matte, lightly blushed cheeks, open mouth, teeth and tongue, rose red lips, cute little dimples, lower painted lashes, upper horsehair lashes clear root beer colored sleep eyes, and thin stroked brows. Here is an extremely rare , signed Madame Alexander, hard plastic, “Margaret Ice Skater” , doll with original, pink taffeta, tagged skating dress with pink marabou & flower trim. She has the Margaret face and stands, 14 1/2 tall with lovely sleep blue eyes, perfect inset eyelashes as well as painted lower eyelashes, eyebrows and closed mouth. Her soft auburn, full wig is in the original set in curls with thick bangs and adorned with pink satin ribbon and flower trim. She wears matching pink satin ribbon and flower sash and wonderful matching pink taffeta trimmed panties and original gold ice skates. Very Nice Vintage Madame Alexander SONJA HENIE. 18 All Composition, Very Good Condition. Sonja Henie was a famous Norwegian figure skater, Olympic champion in 1928, 1932 & 1936 & many times World Champion, who went on to be a film star. Alexander created her doll from 1939-42 in a number of outfits. This example is 18, wears an original, tagged outfit of ivory satin with rust red velvet skirt & cap & blue/multi-color braid trim. White skates with their blades intact (they’re thin metal & sometimes break). Blonde human hair wig in its original set & gold metal hairpins. Doll stand & photo of Sonja not included. Her composition is nice, with virtually no crazing/lifting on head or body. Eyes clear, no crazing or starring; full lashes & no chipping of lip paint. Brownish stain on front of her undies-I believe it will wash out. I must mention that there is so. Me fading of the front of her dress which shows up more on the skirt, also giving her face more of an ivory patina (which I find appealing). We offer for your consideration a 1930s composition beauty of a 14 Wendy Ann face Sonja Henie doll with a bright and unfaded face. Check out her stunning unclouded incredible eyes! Her face, stomach, and lower left leg show minor noticeable crazing. She shows no major cracking, or open seams on her torso or limbs, or anywhere. Her hair is beautiful, thick, and in the original style. —She is a beauty from the original family’s owner’s showcase. This doll was kept in the family of a vast doll collection from the 1920s through 1950s. She was created with real longevity and craftsmanship in mind. She is not well strung and does not pose. She is pretty for display, but will sometime soon need restringing. You can see the fingers, toes, and everywhere, is complete and intact. —Her brown eyes are STUNNING with dark eyeshadow and highlights of painted lower eyelashes.
