1939-42 Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll , 18 tall, celebrity doll. Sonja Henie was an Olympic gold medalist ice skater and movie star, all composition, blonde curly replaced wig, brown sleep eyes, small amount of lashes missing on left lid, open mouth showing four teeth, dimples & minor light crazing. She has paint loss as shown in photos, toes are slightly chipped & she has chip under chin and right side of head plus filled crack. Her right hand fingers show repair. Letters M A is slightly visible under replaced wig back of head. Her replaced skating dress is made of black velvet & peach taffeta, skates are replacements & are in bad condition. Previous owner sewed blades to skates & left blade is missing front piece. The hang tag is a photo copy of an original. Although not a perfect Sonja, she is beautiful. This is one of the prettiest, 14 1/2 tall, signed: Madame Alexander/Sonja Henie composition dolls we have ever offered with original thick, blond human hair wig in original set with original, flower & marabou headpiece and barrette, beautiful, clear brown, sleep eyes with sable hair lashes, painted lower eyelashes, brows, eyeshadow and knee blush. She has an open mouth with row of pretty teeth and adorable dimples. She is wearing her charming original, tagged: Genuine /Sonja Henie/Madame Alexander/New York, N. She is in excellent condition, holds a pose well and has no crazing, no cracks or chips, no repainting or hair trim. Her clothing has no stains, tears or fading and no odors as she is from a smoke free home. Originally advertised in “Playthings” magazine in 1939, she was made to represent this famous ice-skating champion who also became a movie star. 22 Madame Alexander Sonja Henie Composition Doll 1930 -1940s. This amazing doll comes with 3 outfits with accessories and the stand. Her face has brown sleepy eyes that work smoothly with perfect lashes, open mouth with 6 teeth showing, dimples &. Her wig is glued on and sport 2 hair pins. The skates look like leather with 6 holes up each side with laces. The blades even have a toe-rack on the end used for jumping. One blade has rust. Her arms, legs & head move (head is a little wobbly & her leg has a few marks). I do not see any Madame Alexander marking on her. The maroon skirt needs a snap & has spots inside, but do not show through. All others are in very good vintage condition. Everything will be packed carefully & insured. To me she is in amazing condition for her age, but review the pictures as they are a part of the description. She would be an excellent addition to any collection. This is an 18 Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll from the 1930s She’s made of composition and comes wearing her original tagged red velvet Olympic gold outfit, which is complete with dress, undies, skates and hair ribbon The skates are missing their blades and show wear and there are some sequins missing from her dress but overall her outfit is in very nice condition with no major issues like rips, tears, etc. The elastic is stretched on the undies and they’ve been pinned to stay up Sonja’s composition is in excellent condition with only a few small craze lines and no deep cracks, lifting or peeling; it appears to have been professionally sealed at some point to prevent crazing Sonja’s eyes are clear, her stringing is tight, and she’s not missing any eyelashes or hair A beautiful doll and the stand is included for display. EXTREMELY RARE 15-16 MME Alexander ICE SKATING Sonja Henie Doll, in presentation suitcase. It is not MINT, but she is NRFB. I did find a couple of issues, , first being that one of the blades on her skate has broken off and LUCKILY I found it in the box. 2, noticing the skis, I only see 1 boot as the blades are crossed. I dont know if there are suppose to be 2 boots or not. The dress does not have that crispness or luster in my opinion. Crazing is very minimal. Very rare item, I had trouble finding information on her under Sonja Henie, found out Alexander named her Skating Doll because it was after Ms. Henies contract expired prior to 1942. Suitcase in very good condition, no major damage other than age and storage, handle and clasps work fine. Thanks for looking, Sharon.
